Hamstring Injury Shuts Down Mike Evans

No catches this preseason for Mike Evans

The Bucs play the Titans in 19 short days, and Mike Evans has a new hamstring injury.

It’s unclear what happened in tonight’s game against the Bengals.

The Buccaneers announced Evans left with a hamstring injury and would not return.

The injury  appeared to come on a deep route in which Evans was well covered on the throw from Jameis Winston. He didn’t catch a pass tonight and didn’t have one against the Vikings in Minnesota.

Evans was just fine after an early hamstring injury last year, but that was in May. He tweaked his hammy this spring, too, and recovered.

Of course, Joe will share any updates from the Bucs, but that might not come for at least another day. Teams are not required to report injury specifics during preseason.

Like all Bucs fans, Joe will keep fingers crossed — and hope the Bucs keep Evans out of Saturday’s preseason game against the Browns. No need to take any risks with a franchise-caliber talent.

Ouch that hurts but i was pleasantly surprised with Murphy and Shepard. Hall has been doing some nice things. Still waiting for Kenny Bell to show up. Either way we need our #1 back ASAP, can’t replace Godzilla.

reason to worry about his lack of catches so far in preseason?

2nd year of Tampa 2 is right on track!!!

It was nice to see passes just beyond the 1st down marker rather than short of 1st down marker as we seen the past decade!!!!!!

We finally have a true Offense of Coordinator.

In Lovie & Licht I TRUST!!!

Hall made some good catches down the middle for his 1st NFL game, only had one drop on which the D was called for holding

Evans obviously is subject to hamstring problems, the two long passes to him he ran all out tweaking the same area again. He should rest and not play the balance of preseason and hopefully be ready when the games count.

Good news. At his post game press conference Fameis said that ME is OK and that it’s preseason and so the Bucs were not going to risk anything. He made the same remark about his own ankle.

But because of his history I get that we are all gripping anytime says Mike Evans and hamstring in the same sentence.

Wait until the adrenaline wears off and we find out Winston has. A stress fracture

A lot of receivers who had break out rookie years follow it with a sophomore slump. Hopefully that will not happen and I hope that the injury is a minor one that will not cost him a chance at playing in the home opener vs the Titans. Last thing the Bucs need is to lose their #1 wideout like the Panthers did when Benjamin went down…

rest up, mike. last thing you need is to overwork jack up your knee or ankle as you try to compensate for a hamstring problem. let’s use the reps for the likes of Kenny Bell, Louis Murphy and the rest of the surprisingly deep pool of options we have for the bottom of our WR depth chart.
