Quit Making Excuses II

December 25th, 2010

LeGarrette Blount 1031Earlier in the week Joe got the impression Bucs coaches were reaching for excuses not to play LeGarrette Blount in the fateful loss to the rebuilding since 1957 Detroit Lions.

It seems Joe wasn’t the only one who smelled this stench.

Video star Anwar Richardson of the Tampa Tribune nearly blows a gasket in this TBO Bucs vlog, co-hosted by his colleague Woody Cummings, railing on the same thing Joe took Bucs assistant coaches to task for.

Richardson, too, believes the Bucs coaches should just man up and admit they, in so many words, dropped the ball in keeping Blount on the bench in critical situations.

Check out Richardson’s point-by-point breakdown and see if you agree.

they’ll never admit that because they have too much respect for caddy to throw him under the bus like that.

  2. Tommy Boy Says:

I’m thinking they are sitting him like this because he is probably close to a performance bonus or escalator in his contract.

  3. Bucnjim Says:

Went against his own theory by not giving the ball to the player who was hot the whole game.

Merry Christmas everyone! Have a frosty one on me! Let’s all wish for a Christmas mircle that at least puts us in position to make the playoff’s next week.

Anwar you go! finally a sports guy who knows what he’ talking about.

Roy are you auditioning for a job with team Glazer? You almost sound like JimBuc or Joel Glazer with those talking points! If you want to use that reasoning then rookie LG Hartman needs to be taken out of the lineup when the Bucs are in the redzone because he caused a fumble – right?

Finally I noticed that the vlog had 102 views since 12-22-2010! I wonder how many of those views came as a result of people reading JBF.com and clicking over to the TBO site? Let’s just assume that 50% were from JBF.com So that means the thieves at JBF.com are contributing to TBO’s viewership and marketing plans right Phil in Palm Harbor?

While I LOVE a good conspiracy theory thinking that LaGarrett Blount not getting his number called because he’s close to a bonus number is just a CRAPPY conspiracy theory. The guy was a practice squad signing that the Bucs did great to obtain. I highly doubt there were any performance incentives in his contract and if there was the amount the Bucs are responsible would be peanuts compared to the elephant man’s new deal!

Let’s face it Raheem/Olson did one thing – they are over thinking themselves. First by getting too conservative and then pulling the plug on the main engine that’s driving this Buc’s ground attack.

Please coaches – STOP OVER THINKING and start making those GUT DECISIONS that enamour you with the players and actually contribute to some wins. Like the onsides kick, Like the Donald Penn TD play, like more WR screens.
