Slowing Down Drake London
November 1st, 2026
Big matchup today.
It’s not like the Bucs haven’t faced Dixie Chicks wide receiver Drake London before. But today, the Bucs’ secondary will have its biggest test since facing Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to open the season.
In a report by Sara Walsh of NFL Network, she was at One Buc Palace last week and spoke with Bucs corner Zyon McCollum. The Bucs’ corner confessed to her that London may be his biggest matchup headache in the league.
“He knows Drake London is going to test them,” Walsh explained. “He told me that with London, even when you got him covered up, you still have to fight him afterwards. He said if he’s going to pull you, you got to push him back. If he’s going to push you, you got to pull on him.
“[McCollum] knows what kind of game he’s in for, and he called London [a player] unlike any receiver he has seen so far. He said because of how big he is, how strong, how aggressive he is.”
London is a good receiver, no doubt. But Joe would take Chase and maybe Tee Higgins over him. Hell, perhaps even Cee Dee Lamb.
And McCollum has experience this season fighting a bruising, physical guy like DK Metcalf, too.
Joe also believes McCollum and the Bucs will get some help from Mother Nature. With so much rain expected, that ought to slow down London, at least a little bit.
95% chance of rain here in Tampa Sunday, expect a ton of handoffs, and why Bucs cb Zyon McCollum told me Drake London is unlike any receiver he’s seen. #bucs #falcons #insiders #nfln pic.twitter.com/tjkMGVs4rZ

DK is bigger, stronger, and faster than London. Justin Jefferson is no slouch either. The Bucs have already faced a gauntlet of excellent receivers and largely have shut them down or at least dramatically limited them. Our secondary is playing way better than I expected. McCollum seems to be getting so much more out of his incredibly elite athleticism than he has before (#1 all time RAS for a corner). The sky is the limit on his potential as long as he never turns into a head case and maintains consistent effort playing within his abilities.
