YaYa Diaby Stands Up For Todd Bowles

October 29th, 2026

Lots of love for embattled Bucs head coach Todd Bowles in the Tampa Bay locker room.

Speaking to Kay Adams on Up & Adams yesterday, Bucs edge rusher YaYa Diaby answered a question about Bowles. Adams wanted to know if there’s a, ‘Hey, don’t talk that way about my coach’ mentality among Tampa Bay players.

Diaby said there is — he was just having a conversation about that with Bucky Irving.

“We really love Coach Bowles,” Diaby said. “It just feels so good when you get a win, just to see the excitement for Coach Bowles. Just how he carries himself around the building and uplifting all the players, just being that great leader, great head coach that we have — it’s just getting win for him means the world.”

Joe gets that players love Bowles. He’s a players-first kind of guy. He’s steady. He serves as a father figure to many guys and Bowles has eight years at One Buc Palace with a clearly defined culture and expectations.

However, the Bucs are 4-12 in their last 16 games. Something isn’t adding up.

  2. First Last Says:

We were due for a winning streak. I think it is time. We just had two Todd Bowles annual slides back to back. Now we will be undefeated going into the Superbowl

  3. ProffeserVonBrainStorm Says:

The players love him because he expects very little from them while praising them as if they won the SB while losing home games.

What isn’t adding up are the wins. What continues to add up are the excuses.

And the Glazers are loving the culture of regression. It’s like catnip to them.

Todd cost them millions in revenue when he lost to the tanking Dolphins.

The Glazers doubled down and asked for more. Todd said hold my beer. #Success

  4. Crazyhorse54 Says:

If you love the guy, win for him, play hard for him, unite to dominate the opponent. No excuses, no whining. Get it done

    Thoughts!

    1. Then win for him!
    2. Sometimes people love a boss who doesn’t work them too hard. (Or hard enough)

  8. MattBucs Says:

You can love him, but do you respect him?

  9. ModHairKen Says:

Prove it with your wins, not words.

  10. Steve V Says:

When you stick together, you come out with a defense thats tops in the league

    Who cares

  12. Joe Says:

    Who cares

Obviously you do. If you didn’t care, you wouldn’t have wasted the time and effort to comment. 🙂

  13. 50yearbucfan Says:

The players that love toilet bowels will be gone with him in the end! Go bucs 2027!

  14. SpaghettiandMeatballs Says:

That’s right, we get a win here “we are so back.” Back to 8-9. Why this is acceptable in anyway year over year is really beyond me. Being worried about the now only are not good markers for success in general as it pertains to life. The best decisions are the hard decisions.

  15. ProffeserVonBrainStorm Says:

Steve V is going down on the ship that Bowles is captaining.

Let’s see if it works out…..

  16. Obvious Says:

    “Subpar player defends subpar HC”

    That aligns.

  17. Saskbucs Says:

Most of the players in that locker room have only had Bowles as their NFL HC.

    So what do they know?

He’s a great guy, he’s good to his players, he runs a complex scheme that some of them can’t fully grasp. Best coach ever!

  18. Deez Nutz Says:

In other words I’m about to get paid by licht and the glazers and i must say that that toilet bowles is amazing and the best coach since parcells

  19. Steve V Says:

    Its just a game!

  20. Steve V Says:

And we gotta good one coming Sunday !!
    Go Bucs!

  21. can-we-get-rid-of-Licht-for-godsake? Says:

There is an amazing story in the Athletic about Bo Nix and Tez Johnson – they are like peas and carrots – very cool – Tez is a bad-ass hombre for sure – the players on this team are not the problem – at every position there is potential and superior if inconsistent play – I have already blasted the GM and owners ad nauseum so it really comes down to the coach -,it really does – at Brandon High School outside Tampa they have had a stellar championship wrestling team for decades ? why ? because the kids in Brandon are special ? No – they had a coach named Russ Cozart that led the team to glory – the Bucs need a Russ Cozart (or Tony Dungy or Tom Brady or Monte Kiffin) that can lead this team to glory

  22. Boycotting 26 Says:

“clearly defined culture and expectations” aka a LOSING culture where there is no accountability (beyond words Joe, accountability requires ACTION) for poor play or bad coaching (Diaby & bowles respectively). Where guys play soft and come out unprepared multiple times a season. Where the expectations include an annual 4 game losing streak, celebrating 8-9/9-8 seasons like they’re some kind of accomplishment, using injuries as an excuse for bad seasons (even though EVERY team has injuries EVERY year and most routinely do more with more injuries than the Bucs), a curb stomping wildcard weekend, and let’s not forget a draft pick in the mid to late teens. Whomp whomp. Culture & expectations are some of the main reasons bowles should go. He’s made this team soft & complacent FOR YEARS.

And of course Diaby is running his mouth again after his big game. Just shut up man. Let your play do the talking. Have a 10 sack season and people will talk about you on their own accord. bowles would even get some credit for that from Joe & others. Stop acting, talking, and playing like a rookie. MAN. UP.

Bottom line, both these clowns can go. As far as I’m concerned, anyone who vouches for bowles can go. You’ll remember Wirfs declined to go this far in defending bowles, as has Baker multiple times. A lot of these guys have been indoctrinated to accept mediocrity and if they can’t snap out of it, they need to go. I don’t remember a bunch of players coming out talking about how much they loved playing for Belichick. That’s a team that had a culture to brag about and expectations that mattered.

  23. Pops Malone Says:

The only way you evaluate a coach is by his won/lost record. I don’t care if he is a father figure to his players. I don’t care if everyone in the locker room loves him. I care about how many games we win and with this guy, especially since our bye last year, its nowhere near close to being enough. So while everyone can love him and call him dad, barring some miraculous turn around that puts us in at least the NFC Championship game, he needs to be fired. His own game management will cause a couple more losses in itself. Bye bye Dad….oh, I meant Coach.

  24. jimmy Says:

employee publicly professes love for boss and how great boss is, shocking!!!

I know, right ? When are you players going to start listening to ice cream eating Joe’s and his merry band of dummies, when they cast shade on all things Todd, instead of people in the building.

Congrats on a big day Yaya and happy for coach too.

Sorry for the fans who find something wrong, or bad, or insincere about Yayas statement. 😭
