Will Jalon Daniels Be In Sunday’s Game Plan?

October 24th, 2026

Bucs backup quarterback Jalon Daniels has proven to be very dangerous with his legs. He’s also young and fresh and sharp after three consecutive starts.

Will Bucs offensive guru Zac Robinson find a couple of snaps for Daniels tomorrow in Charlotte?

Joe is curious. It seems obvious that a creative playcaller would see an opportunity in Daniels. Maybe a “wildcat” option or using Daniels as a decoy against the Panthers? Or having him line up under center for a couple of snaps to completely confuse Carolina?

Joe’s football mind says this is a no-brainer. But will it happen?

With Baker Mayfield rushing back to start injured on Sunday, it seems the Bucs are in full desperation mode, which makes sense considering their deplorable 1-5 record. So that tells Joe that Todd Bowles should be demanding every weapon be maximized.

However, that philosophy seems almost an anathema to Bowles given his limited usage of his most dangerous defensive player, edge rusher David Walker.

No plan for Daniels would be another red flag for the current administration.

    I hope not.

One and sixteen is really keen!

That is my motto for this dumpster-fire season unfolding before our eyes.

Make Baker play every freaking POS game until he finally retires in shame.

I was thinking the same thing but I realize now that it won’t happen. Using Daniels would require creativity. That’s a big ask for an offensive coordinator who isn’t even creative enough to get the ball to his wide receivers consistently. Then, when I considered who the head coach is, I heard “no Zac, we don’t need to do that, we are up a score, so don’t take chances.”

    Stop deflecting.

Your boy toy is a failure and our GM is the total laughing stock of the “NFL elite”.

    JK amigo.

You are one of the few that are somewhat realistic here…

At the least, one would think that a coach would WANT QB2 primed and down for whatever – – it could only take a quick “bonk” of that thumb to knock BM out of the game with a re-aggravation of that throwing hand injury.

Let’s see JUST how dumb/unprepared this coaching staff is.

They could surprise us and do the right thing…wonder what the over/under is on that?

hee hee – Bowles does not know whether to &$@t or wind his watch – Tyrannosaurus Baker Mayfield or UDFA Daniels – Baker is not even CERTAIN to start – I am guessing Baker gets banged-up somehow in the first quarter and Jalon finishes the game

Poor Joe. Everything is pretty much black and white. Your efforts are noted. With Todd in charge is going to be a long season for you. Hang in there.

    Go Rays!!!!

Zero chance, unless he comes in to replace an injured Mayfield. We all know creative is the last word that comes to mind when describing Vanilla Robinson.

The only flashes of decency we’ve ever seen from ZRob’s Bucs offense is when Daniels was at QB. 💯

  13. Erik with Unique Modern Art Says:

A Baker-led Bucs Offense will be lucky to score more than 10 points tmrw.

  14. Erik with Unique Modern Art Says:

With Baker at QB and not even fully healthy, I put our ceiling at 13 pts tmrw. Most-likely, we score 9 pts and lose.
