Todd Bowles Just Wants A Win

October 24th, 2026

Needs a win.

Joe often tells this story because it is a reminder for fans of what goes through the minds of NFL coaches when a team begins to crumble.

Back in 2018, when then-Bucs coach Dirk Koetter benched America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, it was the beginning of the end Koetter. When a coach benches a quarterback who was a No. 1 overall pick, that’s often a kiss of death.

And that’s just the way it played out.

But in his first media appearance after Koetter’s move was announced, then-Bucs offensive coordinator Todd Monken put the move in perspective for his coaching colleagues.

“We’re trying to save jobs,” Monken said.

The Bucs are currently 1-5 as they prepare to play at Carolina tomorrow. KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles and the Bucs are 3-12 since they hammered the slimy Saints in that tomb blocks from the French Quarter over a year ago.

The Bucs then went on a bye week and haven’t been the same since.

Going 3-12 in his last 15 games, Bowles let the local pen and mic club yesterday in on what was going through his mind.

He was asked about how beginning division play tomorrow and maybe getting a few quick division wins could get the Bucs back in the playoff race. Bowles noted he’s not thinking playoffs in any way.

“We’re just trying to win the game on Sunday,” Bowles said.

“We’re trying to save jobs.”

Bowles knows if he doesn’t win in the next week or two, his retirement will come in January, sooner than planned, if he chooses to retire.

Lousy Lovie Smith, Raheem Morris, Greg Schiano and Koetter all had better records in their last 15 games with the Bucs than Bowles now has in his last 15 games.

Bowles is saying ‘one game at a time’ and that’s understandable.

  2. MadMax Says:

Nope, too late, let go, ITS OVER!!! YOU KNEW WTF YOU WERE DOING DUDE!!!

    STFU!!!!

    SEASONS OVER MTHRFK!!! LOSE OUT!!!!

Not putting players into positions they can win…relying on schemes THAT WOULD PUT the other team in positions to win….NA DUDE!
It has to be on purpose! Theres nothing else that can explain it.

  3. ProffeserVonBrainStorm Says:

Problem is Todd doesn’t know how to win a football game unless it’s against an even worse dreck than his own team.

When you have zero consequences for failure why should you care what the record is at the end?

There’s no pressure at all to even make the playoffs or win if you back into the playoffs.

The bag has already been attained without the required effort or qualifications.

Bowles has the complexion protection plan.

Dungy got fired after a 9-7 season
Gruden got fired after a 9-7 season
maybe if Bowles goes 9-7 the Glazers will fire him

Play Offs PlayOffs, Each week we are hearing this game is critical, and yes I guess this game is if you believe a turnaround is going to happen. Baker is back. Yes we all hope. However, was there much difference between Daniels and Baker before Baker was hurt?, to me not really. Is the offense suddenly going to find Chris Godwin, or Eubuka. Well Godwin not likely, Eubuka is out. Maybe Bucky carries the day and the O Line with a fill in will play better. Well for one more game we can hope. However odds are better we will be in line for a top draft pick. I think Ira hit the nail , this team is broken, but yes one more game is critical right
I guess we are all hoping just win this game..

  6. Permanently Moderated Says:

Off topic, but has anyone heard anything from the Munch Man? He’s been missing from the comments.

    How is this barely
.500 lifetime winning head coach still in town!

  8. Kenton Smith Says:

ProffeserVonBrainStorm. You’re a racist. In case you needed the morning affirmation.

  9. MadMax Says:

Sir Munch got his stomach pumped from all of the rod munching….he barely showed up last night but he’s here….slowly recovering from 20 D’s in a glory hole, lol

    @Ownership

Bowles calls himself a defensive guru, yet his defense can’t stop anybody! Horrendous clock management, zero adjustments, and endless excuses. Licht’s overpaid veterans aren’t producing either! CLEAN HOUSE, dump the deadweight, and bring in Udinski or Kubiak!

Bowles isn’t the solution. HE’S THE PROBLEM! This team is one more collapse away from sending me straight to an insane asylum! 🤬

🔥 BUCS FIRE SALE! All 31 NFL teams welcome! Buy one overpaid veteran, get TWO underachievers FREE! Everything MUST GO!

There are 16 names in the Bucs ROH – by era :

    Kiffin-Dungy-Gruden-Glazer-Rice-Barber-Lynch-Alstott-Brooks-Sapp
    1993-2012 best years were 1997 -2002

    McKay-Williams-Giles-Selmon
    1976-1986 best years were 1979 – 1982

    Arians 2019-2021 best years 2020-2021

    Gruber 1988-1999 best years 1997-1999

Licht will only get into this group .. because politics

  12. BA’s Red Pen Says:

This garbage is totally on the Glazers, keeping Bowles was a horrendous miscalculation on their part. The day he was retained was the day this season was over.

  13. can-we-get-rid-of-Licht-for-godsake? Says:

someday new names will be added to Bucs ROH –
we had the McKay-Williams era and the Kiffin-Dungy-Gruden era
the Arians era was only 3 years – who would be honored ?
Brady Gronk AB ? hired guns – Evans ? turncoat –
    Wirfs Winfield Godwin ?
maybe – LVD probably – these latter names feel like Gruber though –
all about longevity rather than glory

  14. Bosch Says:

That is the wisest and most sincere answer he has ever given.

  15. Buddha Says:

Defense is ranked #6 in DVOA. This is a team that will be attractive to prospective head coaches. If you think things are bad here, imagine what it’s like in L.A.

  16. can-we-get-rid-of-Licht-for-godsake? Says:

so we gonna get Godwin-Hurst-Tez at 1-2-3 ? that should be interesting –
that “questionable” designation for Baker is intriguing – I still think he might not go or plays only part of the game – that would be final admission of a lost cause

  17. MadMax Says:

^ Yeah, we have our weaknesses, but we are right there.

And QB Mestemaker climbed so fast….man i wanted him in the 2nd….oh well, he’s a top 10 now.

  18. Winny Testaverde Says:

While coaching not to lose. It’s over, T. Bol. The rest of the NFC South has improved while the “good” players on the Bucs roster are overpaid, old or both.

VV and Baker’s Dozen of turnovers hoodwinked the organization into a complete financial heist. It’s the worst scam we’ve seen since the Nigerian Prince email one.

  19. can-we-get-rid-of-Licht-for-godsake? Says:

@Buddha – yes you are brilliant – everyone would agree :
    Vita Vea > Aaron Donald
    Baker Mayfield > Matthew Stafford
    Chris Godwin > Puka Nacua
    Todd Bowles > Sean McVay
    Cade Otton > Tyler Higbee
and even if Davante Adams and Myles Garrett get off IR by Week 17, the Bucs are going to clobber them

  20. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Kenton

    “You’re a racist.”

    Easy does it there Tex…

Calm down just a tiny bit here now.

Don’t be throwin round that hard “R” unless you got sum proofs…

  21. SummerofGeorge Says:

Todd Bowles is a horrific HC\DC. One of the worst ever in the NFL.

Why in the world are the Bucs sticking with this absolute loser?

It makes zero sense to anyone with an above 60 IQ.

All we can hope is that there are only 11 Sundays left with Bozo the clown.

    Just gotta franchise it better.

  22. Slacker Says:

Fans want a whole new coaching staff and regime. One that will rid the toxic atmosphere.
