Jalon Daniels’ Passing Chart Against Steelers
October 21st, 2026
Jalon Daniels searches for a receiver.
This is tough to look at.
And folks wonder why Bucs receivers have such a paltry number of receiving yards. This chart is all you need to know.
Joe gets it: an undrafted rookie at quarterback was making his third start. So in a way, Bucs offensive coordinator Zac Robinson was limited.
Still, of the 43 passes Jalon Daniels put in the air Sunday against Pittsburgh, he had only four completions with the ball traveling more than 10 yards past the line of scrimmage.
Daniels had 22 completions and about 25 percent were complete passes well behind the line of scrimmage. A total of 17 completions were within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage.
What is this, pee wee football?
Joe isn’t sure how an offense is going to muster explosive plays with a dink-and-dunk offense on steroids.

This is pretty much a wasted season…thanks Todd. But…Jalon is getting meaningful reps for the future. I can see him being Bakers back up for the next few years.

Check down passes can become your best friend!
October 21st, 2026 at 9:06 am
Doesn’t look that much different than our $165M dollar man Baker.
The kid hit 2 passes out of 4 over 20 yards – that is still way better than BM’s percentage of completions over 20 yards.
The rest is dink and dunk just like BM.
I honestly don’t see much of a difference between these two QBs.
October 21st, 2026 at 9:08 am
Daniels missed an open Egbuka on a sure TD pass that would’ve put the Bucs up 17-0. Instead, they had to kick a FG.
Then in the 2nd half, Daniels was missing on easy swing passes.
The coaches need to focus on his footwork and accuracy and temperament under pressure. It may take time.
Mayfield has many of the same issues.
Is it coaching? or the players?
Seems like Coen and Canales have fixed Lawrence and Young.
October 21st, 2026 at 9:09 am
If you dont see a difference it’s because the offense we run is the same for both of them. 1st down run, short pass, screen punt. Rinse and repeat.
October 21st, 2026 at 9:16 am
Marine Buc. Baker Mayfield threw 95 touchdowns and 37 interceptions his first 3 years in Tampa. His worst year was tied for first place in the division.
Three playoff games, 8 touchdown passes against 2 picks. Marine Buc, I was gonna say that you know better than that. But you donāt.
October 21st, 2026 at 9:16 am
Can we start doing TE over the middle more often?? Seems to work pretty well against our D….
October 21st, 2026 at 9:17 am
Same thing, from different QBs with the same OC. What we need is a QB who can see, function, and execute from the pocket that doesn’t need to be on the move as frequently as either of our current QBs. Someone who can threaten defense with the deep ball and actually help a guy like Hurst develop into the downfield threat we current do not have.
Get me somebody like Mike Denbrock or the other Mike Shanahan, somebody from the college ranks with a more innovative style and a history of putting togethering and presiding over explosive offenses. This pattern of having a different OC every year has put the development of alot of our young talent on offense to stagnate and I do not trust Zac Robinson or our QBs to make the most of what/whomever we have.
October 21st, 2026 at 9:23 am
Marine Buc,
You must have missed the 1923 through 1925 seasons when Baker had the second most TD passes in the NFL. Many of these were seam ropes 35 yards for TDās.
Quit posing as an analyst and admit that you were in the same high school band as Rod Munch. Easy to spot the type who was neither an athlete nor a marine. You arenāt fooling anyone. Tell us your Marine Corp rank and unit in which you served.
October 21st, 2026 at 9:43 am
This is common for young QBs. But we should expect to see some improvement over the next few weeks. If we don’t, then well…..
October 21st, 2026 at 9:43 am
Keep playing him. 1. We arenāt winning the Super Bowl anyway. And by him continuing to play it should send a giant machete right in to the hearts of all the dweebs and dorks that a far less talented man is somehow the better option than Baker. 2. Iād rather be in position to draft a Jeremiah Smith.
October 21st, 2026 at 9:44 am
all this talk about bakers stats but never a peep about WINS lol….
baker is average at best….he’s 27-27 as a bucs starting QB….pipe down lol
GO BUCS!!!!!
October 21st, 2026 at 9:48 am
More like dink and dud.
October 21st, 2026 at 9:50 am
@ Gipper
I actually like Baker Mayfield…
Best fullback the Bucs have had since the A-train.
Stop talking about “1924 & 1925”.
What has Baker done in 2026?
So far JD has a higher % of completed passes over 20 yards.
Calm down.
Let’s talk about the draft… Who do like with the #1 overall pick?
October 21st, 2026 at 10:00 am
To be fair, Baker canāt throw the deep ball accurately either.
This is a west coast offense without the QB or playmakers to run it.
And itās terribly conservative which is easy to game plan for.
Itās almost a mirror reflection of the Todd Bowles defensive scheme.
Bland, boring, and lifeless. 1-5, howād we ever win one?? Itās a miracle.
October 21st, 2026 at 10:05 am
“You must have missed the 1923 through 1925 seasons when Baker had the second most TD passes in the NFL. Many of these were seam ropes 35 yards for TDās.”
8 TDs & 10 INTS on throws of 20 or more air yards since 2023 to now. On 1,025 pass attempts. Jared Goff actually leads all QBs in passes >20 air yards with 21 TDs on deep passes in the same span.
Overall deep ball completion percentage in that time frame he’s thrown 219 deep passes and completed 69 which is 31.5%
Mayfields’ EPA on deep balls over the course of his time in Tampa is -0.28 per play and cumulative EPA on passes of 20 air yards or more while in Tampa is at -33.63 overall.
89 of his TDs thrown as a Buc have been on passes of 19 yards or less, and about 41% of his total TD pass yardage in that same span was generated by YAC.
Also, sure this might look par for the course for a rookie, but what’s that say about our vet QB who was posting passing charts just as dismal as this one. Did you guys know we are 1 of 4 teams right now w/more INTs than Pass TDs?
5TDs to 7 INTs. All offseason, I’d point out how pathetic our offense was down the stretch last season. All I heard was the OL and Baker have to be healthy, we don’t need Mike Evans, Purdy isn’t better than Baker or Baker is a top 10 QB
19 ppg through 6 weeks and waiting the efforts of our defense by not giving them points let alone a “lead” to protect
October 21st, 2026 at 10:06 am
Marine..
i see your making friends 1st thing this am!
The kid had a wk and and a half to prepare
Under 50% completion rate. No improvs with legs??
Switching gears
Where the phuck is Gainwell!
October 21st, 2026 at 10:07 am
I said the day Bowles and JL decided to make JD the backuo it was a big mistake and they both proceeded to piss on our legs and tell us its raining. This team needs a new GM and HC at this point. You can’t trust a word that comes out of anyones mouth at OBP. That is a franchise in serious decline and the Glazers need to wake up. If Malcolm was still here he would ve chewing their arses right now.
October 21st, 2026 at 10:07 am
The problem with fans who have decided they don’t like someone is that human nature often makes it nearly impossible to change their mind. Baker is obviously not everyone’s cup of tea. Frankly, he wasn’t mine. Landed here and he immediately became my favorite quarterback. Just a fan /homer thing I guess. But clearly not all fans think like that. And then every positive thing that player does is minimized, and every negative thing is amplified. Again, human nature. Unfortunately. Guys like Munch and Marine would have a hard time liking Baker. Even if he won a super bowl. It simply goes against their nature for some reason. The evidence is there. We’ve all seen way, way more criticism about the bad things balanced against nearly no kudos at all for the positive ones. Yes, I’m talking about you.
Of course this runs in both directions. There are Baker fans who seemingly can’t see the negatives and go overboard, presenting and reiterating the positives. And then there are the facts. There’s a win-loss record. And there are statistics. Again, the haters will pump up the stats that point toward their narrative and the fans will do the same. Both can make their point this way. But at the end of the day, I personally have never felt the desire to criticize the quarterback of my team more than I deem necessary. I hated jameis as a player but rooted as hard for his success as I did for TB12. And was never interested in going overboard criticizing him. And as we all know, there was a lot to criticize. Munch’s Messiah will never be more than a backup. Quarterback, no matter how hard he tries to convince us otherwise. Which makes him a great example of this phenomenon. Loves the int machine. Hates the current guy. Strange world.
October 21st, 2026 at 10:08 am
They had Irving bottled up,Gainwell should have been Daniels best friend sunday
October 21st, 2026 at 10:14 am
Gipper. You bringing up the Marine Corps gave me an idea. My best friend was a Marine in the 60ās and 70ās. We rode together and most of the time it was to do things for Vets that needed help.
Since Tom passed, I have taken my Super Glide out of the shop 3 times- to ride down to the car wash and knock the dust off. I just told my wife I am taking a ride today. Iām ready. Life is for the living, thatās what Tom would have said. And heād have said- keep her between the ditches. I will, Tom.
I sure enjoy my JBF- but I reckon itāll still be here when I get back. Thanks Gipper, thatās just what the Doctor ordered!
October 21st, 2026 at 10:15 am
What happened to all the hype?
October 21st, 2026 at 10:17 am
Daniels is a rookie. Rookie quarterbacks need time to develop. Mayfield is really good when healthy. It’s his live or die mentality when injured that has tanked the Bucs. Todd Bowles is a good defensive coach. As a Head Coach, he’s not. That’s not an indictment, it’s just reality. Finding a good HC is not easy. The next couple of games will determine how the season ends. So far it’s not looking good.
The Bucs day of reckoning is coming soon.
October 21st, 2026 at 10:17 am
Well, if the WRās could get open, maybe then he could throw the ball down the field, and how about the WRās catching the ball, when it does come to them??? I know that the INTās are his fault, but You canāt blame him for everything!
October 21st, 2026 at 10:18 am
Rod Munch needs help.
Baker goes away and he has nothing to say anymore…
HELP!
October 21st, 2026 at 10:20 am
@ Steve V
I never said the kid was “good” nor did I say he was better than a healthy BM…
Nothing beats a healthy BM first thing in the A.M.
Anyways – what really troubles me is there isn’t much of a drop off between our $165M dollar fullback and the UDFA JD who is making minimum wage.
Blame it on the OC.
Blame it on the HC.
Or as my friends Milli and Vanilli would say – “Blame it on the rain”…
That’s all I’m saying fellas.
Peace out homies!
October 21st, 2026 at 10:21 am
Marine Buc,
You are so full of it that not even those daily enemas administered by you pal Munch will solve your problem. Keep fantasizing about Daniels. You and Munch keep enjoying your shirtless Tom Brady posters hanging up in your bedrooms.
October 21st, 2026 at 10:25 am
Lol Marine! On to wk 7..Maybe we’ll see Stick?? He knows Robinson’s incredible offense!!
October 21st, 2026 at 10:27 am
@ Steve V
I forgot.
The Gainwell thing.
Wow – ask our GM… Why did he waste $7M on this resource?
Seems like a case of misallocated funds to me.
October 21st, 2026 at 10:44 am
Marine Buc,
The closest you ever got to the Marine Corp was watching Jim Naborās as Gomer Pyle on TV reruns
October 21st, 2026 at 11:14 am
@ Gipper
Become a master of debate.
And stop the hate…
I love all Buc fans.
October 21st, 2026 at 11:48 am
1. Anybody that puts BOI in their name is…ill say very questionable.
2. Won/loss record is not a quarterback stat
3. Even in Bakers BAD year last year – it still 10x of anything Jalon will do in his
life.
4. Keep Jalon, you wanted him, you mfers got him, you all can die a miserable
death on that hill. He absolutely does NOT have the talent to be a starter here
or anywhere whether its a year from now for 4 years from now.
5. Classic, stupid football fan move to default to backup quarterback like hes
going to be the savior, and he never is. ESPECIALLY in THIS case
October 21st, 2026 at 12:04 pm
IT’S THE COACHING ….. Grow up and stop trying to blame one individual player. We have talented players. What we don’t have is an inovative OC who can scheme players open. Even with my limitted football IQ I know whats coming next just tell me the down and distance. And we need a HC that can fire the troops up in the fourth quarter and stop blowing fourth quarter leads. Bad coaching leads to bad results
October 21st, 2026 at 12:06 pm
Marine Buc,
I donā have to lie about my background and numerous post graduate degrees. The closest you ever got to Parris Island was at a barbecue in Bluffton, SC.
Suggest you spend $9/month and subscribe to all access NFL on YouTube TV. If you do, you can see the many magnificent TD passes that Baker has thrown for TDās in his career as a Buc. You wonāt because you were the kid who was never picked to play on any kind of athletic team. As a consequence you became an unbridled critic of everyone who has had athletic success. Mayfield is at the top of the heap when it comes to athletic success as his #1 draft pick status suggests.
October 21st, 2026 at 12:11 pm
But , but , but Jaylon in better than Baker⦠(sarc)
Heāll make a decent backup, thatās it. Stop with āheās betterā . Get back to me when he throws for 4000 yards and 39 touchdowns in a season.
October 21st, 2026 at 12:46 pm
lol 1987, Munch hit too many rods last night….probably needs a stomach pump, poor thing š
October 21st, 2026 at 1:20 pm
Dink and dunk is the way to go when being blitzed. It’s up to the QB to read the defense and determine if he’ll have time in the pocket. Dink and dunk is an effective way to stop blitzing if used properly
October 21st, 2026 at 1:21 pm
Aside from the dink-and-dunk passing scheme, what happened to his accuracy? He was on fire the first half, and couldn’t hit anything in the second half.
October 21st, 2026 at 1:43 pm
Lol. Look at you guys upset at zac robinson. Our fans no Nothing! Lets not forget Mike Mcdaniel was the #1 choice for 99.9% of you guys on this site. Lets go and look at the old articles. And fun fact, that guy is currently averaging 15ppg and less ypg than us. Complaining by our fans is one thing, pretending like you all are geniuses is another!
You wanted Mike Mcdaniel and you wanted baker resigned! Ha.
October 21st, 2026 at 2:03 pm
i’m leaning toward playing jalon this sunday…
just my gut instincts on this one…
i’m just thinking jalon vs carolina…then make the switch to baker (aka tom thumb) for atlanta the following week…
let that thumb rest for an extra week…
i also like young jalon, and i do think he would have a good performance if given the chance…
i’m sure when he finally hits the pine for the rest of the season, he’ll want to show as a 2-2 starter, rather than a 1-3 scrubbbbbb
October 21st, 2026 at 2:07 pm
Robinson had Daniels in a position to win. Jalen simply melted down in the fourth quarter with 2 picks and numerous off target throws. The owners are to blame by not bringing in Garropolo to back up Baker. Vikings and bears c had good veterans and look at them now. .
October 21st, 2026 at 2:19 pm
Turtle todd and his D scheme lost this game, just like the GB game….it will never end until he’s gone, which will be soon.
October 21st, 2026 at 4:52 pm
Take away his completions over 10 yards, and it looks like Baker’s chart… just for a guy starting his 3rd game ever and at 1/65th the cap hit.
October 21st, 2026 at 5:01 pm
Gipper is stuck in the 1920ās. Perhaps, he is confusing Baker with Knute Rockne?
