“You Like To See The Violence He’s Playing With Again”
October 20th, 2026
It seem Miami Mauler rookie edge rusher Rueben Bain has had a breakthrough.
That seemed to be the message from Todd Bowles about his prized first-round draft pick during his chat with Aileen Hnatiuk this week of WFLA-TV.
Bowles referenced how great it is to see Bain healthy. He battled shoulder and groin issues early this season.
“You like to see the violence he’s playing with again, like he played with in the spring, like the guy we drafted,” Bowles said of Bain’s performance Sunday against Pittsburgh. “So, you know, great things on the horizon for him.”
Bain had his first sack against the Steelers and smartly got his hands on a short Aaron Rodgers pass that led to an A’Shawn Robinson interception. That was his first career pass defensed, and Bain had his first three-tackle game.
Joe’s more interested in the eye test. Bain looks like a very different player than he was early in the season. Joe can’t help but wonder what the Bucs’ record might be if Bain had taken the first couple of games off to heal.

At least the next defensive coordinator will have a couple pass rushers to work with.
October 20th, 2026 at 11:10 am
Anyone else surprised Evans is going to miss time with an achilles?
He is who we thought he was.
October 20th, 2026 at 11:12 am
It doesn’t matter if Bain played or not. We would still be a terrible team because we have terrible coaches. One rookie, healthy or otherwise, is not going to change that.
October 20th, 2026 at 11:16 am
I can’t help but wonder why I didn’t invest earlier in Amazon. Hindsight is an extremely common malady of fans. Again I wonder, in looking forward, what the pass rush might look like with Walker and Bain rushing with Scott following behind Bain. Still haven’t noticed it. I did appreciate how quick Diaby got in the backfield for his tackle for loss.
October 20th, 2026 at 11:27 am
Bain is a rookie. He’s learning.
Kancey and Yaya … Head scratchers.
October 20th, 2026 at 11:36 am
i would have liked harbaugh or monken to come here…john harbaugh is a seriously good head coach…monken seems pretty nice too…
harbaugh must be going thru it in new york with jameis, because jameis simply can’t be reeled in…lol…and harbaugh’s system isn’t loosie goosie…
coen was interesting for sure, but the timing was off with todd’s 10 win season…
i’m not feeling tomlin or mcdermott at all…all this tomlin and mcdermott talk just seems off to me
October 20th, 2026 at 11:37 am
Weak sack. JTS could of done it. Now hw is the JBF Mauler. LOL
October 20th, 2026 at 11:38 am
I didn’t see too much of him out there until he got his sack. Is he on a pitch count?
October 20th, 2026 at 11:38 am
But is he covering well. You know pass rusher is just half his job. He has to make Todd proud. So he needs to get better!
October 20th, 2026 at 11:41 am
is kancey on injured reserve and the active roster at the same time…?
🙂
i think that’s really what’s going on…
half man half myth…
half of him is on injured reserve and the other half is on the active roster…
when you go in a pizza shop and ask for a half pepperoni, half cheese pie…the guy says “oh you want the kancey, 20 minutes pal”
October 20th, 2026 at 11:46 am
Adam, if we hired a defensive coach it would be the first time we hired two of those in a row. The owners like to flip flop with coaches. As far as the side of the ball they specialize in. I like Tomlin for a few reasons but generally don’t want him here. The only way I would take him is a guarantee that he doesn’t meddle with the offense and hires a strong OC. No way we want anything like Artie Smith over here.
October 20th, 2026 at 11:47 am
It would be the same joe because Todd can’t manage a game to save his life you are welcome.
October 20th, 2026 at 11:47 am
As an addendum to my previous post about Tomlin above, what’s his record like without Big Ben? Exceedingly average. Very todd-like.
October 20th, 2026 at 11:49 am
Vsluk, he already has done more this season to get the 49rs to 6-0 ..He and Purdy have been co-mvps for them. Name me a Buc that will help the Bucs get to 6 wins total this whole year.
Your grapes are too sour to eat. You try them!
October 20th, 2026 at 11:52 am
before brady this team was not a playoff team and that was with a better coach and better players . the thing that this team is missing is what brady brought with him fournette, gronk and brown. That is exactly what this offense needs now. Give baker something to work with
October 20th, 2026 at 12:02 pm
Wow, Bain sacked an elderly QB who got hemmed in by the other DLinemen…..Joe’s are breaking out cases of champagne…
October 20th, 2026 at 12:06 pm
The record would be 1-5.
October 20th, 2026 at 12:22 pm
Bain on one side and walker on the other. Let yaya and Q rotate for them. Need walker on the field more
October 20th, 2026 at 12:28 pm
You really think the Bucs record would have been different due to Bain??
Joey, this team has lost every game they have due to a piss poor offense and QB play.

Steven007:
i like tomlin too, don’t get me wrong…he is good for sure…
i just want a great offensive mind, and a guy who at least has the potential to think outside the box…and him to bring in a terrific DC as well…
more open to tomlin…really not feeling mcdermott in tampa tho…
the new OC thing every year here is getting crazy too…let’s get some continuity & fluidity going here…
just gotta somehow chalk it up that the timing was off for coen, harbaugh and monk…
new candidates shake loose every year or so…gotta stay positive in rough waters by the bay
October 20th, 2026 at 12:43 pm
No to Tomlin, who didn’t do anything in Pittsburgh without Big Ben. We need an up and coming offensive mind. I also wouldn’t mind Cignetti, but who knows if he can relate to all these multimillionaires. But then again, college kids are becoming multimillionaires, and ruining the game, with all this NIL money.
October 20th, 2026 at 12:46 pm
what if:
we are simply deflating and coming down off the “brady high” and the “culture high”…
could that be what’s happened or going on here…where it took a few years to come back down to earth or something…
big mike knew…he was otti like john gotti
October 20th, 2026 at 12:48 pm
Todd is bringing him along slowly, like the rest of the other things. It’s a long season, Bowles plays the long game. Smart.
October 20th, 2026 at 12:50 pm
Oxymoron! Wrong!! Why do you think Brady came here,The team was stacked ! If Winston didn’t turn the ball over, like this team is doing now ,the outcome would be alot better..Exactly what Brady didn’t do Commit turnovers
October 20th, 2026 at 12:51 pm
Geez, Joe’s…. Proofread! I’m going to start a daily typo count on this page. It’s just lazy. You guys make Reddit look like professional journalism.

mike is 6-0!!!!!!
he is who we thought he was…..a winner!!!!!
GO BUCS!!!!!
October 20th, 2026 at 1:08 pm
Go get another ring Mike. Deserves to be coached by an offensive mind. Sour Bucs fans are too emptional

If we had Evans we would have 2-3 more wins. I’d be happy to have ME13.
October 20th, 2026 at 1:13 pm
How can a defensive minded coach have this issue with the edge position. We can point out JTS, and really Diaby is the pressure guy till now with someone to learn from. At this point this is the worst position we’ve been in for a while. Come On Glazers it’s time for a new coach,
October 20th, 2026 at 1:14 pm
big mike is banged up…ribs and achilles…
achilles not too serious they say…
he will most likely sit out the next game vs atlanta, and then they get the bye week…
mike will most likely be back up and at ’em in the game after the bye…
or worst case scenario, the week after…
so he will miss a game…maybe 2 games max…
dr. adam knows
October 20th, 2026 at 1:19 pm
Commanders 1-4-1…+5 respectfully in the turnover ratio ..Worst defense in the league
Buccaneers 1-5…-3 turnover ratio ..Top 5 in defense
Food for thought..Is it coaching. or players not doing their job???
October 20th, 2026 at 1:20 pm
Evans is old and frail. Bucs made the right decision for once
October 20th, 2026 at 1:25 pm
Dr.Adam …I got a quarter ,Thats for joe49erfan.com

The long game huh? Like planning to win in 2029?
October 20th, 2026 at 2:09 pm
What’s this? We have another guy who can actually rush the passer? Bowles you better cut his snaps way back because we can’t have guys actually get sacks because they don’t really matter, only pressures matter.
October 20th, 2026 at 2:11 pm
You got 5 sacks Sunday! To bad the turnovers showed up
October 20th, 2026 at 2:35 pm
Mike is certainly frail, it’s too bad cause if his body was holding up better he would be a top 10 WR still.
He is still getting it done when out there though, as evidenced by his 211 yard, 1 TD line over the last 6 quarters he has played!
Hopefully the 49ers are smart and sit him this week. Give him 3 weeks to get healthy for their post bye games.
Mike and the 49ers will be giving me something to cheer for in January. Thanks Glazers, Licht and Bowles.
October 20th, 2026 at 2:48 pm
ME 13 is out for 49ers? Down go the 49ers, the losing will begin now.
October 20th, 2026 at 2:49 pm
Hopefully Bain will make a difference against the stinking Panthers!!
Go Bucs !!

Talk like that is cheap. No QB succeeds without a good head coach, and no HC succeeds without a good coach.
But to answer your question? He’s never had a losing season, even without Big Ben. So your point is moot.

Tomlin has a history of hiring lousy OCs – Artie Smith, Matt Canada. And firing good ones (Arians).
Nope on Tomlin…no no no

This is +really+ good news. I expected the real Bain to show up at some point, but my positive expectations have been pretty iffy this season.
October 20th, 2026 at 3:34 pm
Steve V i said the players were better in my post but who were the stars of the super bowl fournette gronk and brown had the tds. This team has noone on offense for baker right now was my point . I see posters calling for rams offensive coordinator to be bucs new coach here why? Who cant call plays with Pacua Adams Stafford kyren williams and corum and they still struggled against a bad cards defense .
October 20th, 2026 at 3:38 pm
Flying my own flag here but I called, out loud, Bains sacks. I said, Bain needs to bull rush and throw his guy wide, cut inside and hammer Rogers. He did exactly that on the next play.
Bain will continue to come on as the game slows down and he starts freelancing a bit. Bowles D is way overly complicated and has guys thinking instead of reacting.
