Maxx Crosby Fears Baker Mayfield

July 16th, 2026

Has Maxx Crosby’s respect.

Hey Maxx Crosby, if Baker Mayfield gives you such a problem, pretty sure if you squeeze John Spytek and Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager enough, they might swing a deal so you can avoid a headache the rest of your career.

But first, you’d have to beat out Chris Braswell.

Crosby, the All-World pass rusher for the Raiders, did some sort of team-sponsored stunt — or gave a nondescript Vegas podcaster some of his time to talk ball.

The video is by someone who goes by the handle of “n3on” and the website is a complete trainwreck. Not sure what the guy’s speciality is (vlogger, maybe?) but good luck trying to find Crosby’s appearance on this guy’s site.

But on TikTok, someone by the handle of “viralclipperrr69” has the clip of Crosby. He was asked who is the hardest quarterback to sack.

“I would say the sleeper one is Baker Mayfield,” Crosby said. “He pissed me off, bro. I had two of ’em. I should have had on him. He low-key ducked down and got out of it.

“I was f’ing livid! But Baker is tough, I love Baker.”

Crosby is right. If defenses think they have Mayfield penned up, all Mayfield needs is a crack and he finds ways to squirm out of it.

And sometimes, Mayfield will make his own crack in the defense. Just ask the 49ers, Vikings and Texans.

I have a feeling some well-qualified commenters are going to tell Maxx Crosby just how wrong he is.

  2. BA’s Red Pen Says:

Baker is good enough to win with, B talent A++ intangibles. The biggest problem the Bucs have is we still have the same defensive coordinator.

  3. 3.28.Evans Says:

Sure. Maxx is afraid of Baker. Yes. Probably petrified.

BA’s Red Pen … ‘The biggest problem the Bucs have is we still have the same defensive coordinator.’

You’re obviously not alone in that assessment, and I’ve long deplored Todd being ‘dual-hatted’. But just as ‘fans’ look back at Baker’s best year here (2024) and say ‘THAT’s the REAL Baker’, I look back at our defense’s performance in 2023 (#7 ranking only allowing 325 pts … 19.1 PPG) and HOPE that THAT defense was led by the REAL Todd Bowles. But then again, every year for all players and coaches has to stand on its’ own merits.

Strange thing about that 2023 defense though, it used the ‘typical’ Todd Bowles defensive schemes … and succeeded. We emphasized stopping the run (ranked #5), but sucked at pass defense (ranked #29). We had a horrible stretch after our early BYE week, losing 6 of 7 games, before recovering to end the season 9-8 by winning 5 of 6 games. ‘Typical’ Todd Bowles year?

You know who led that late charge? Yup, our DEFENSE (allowed only 98 pts in those 6 games … 16.3 PPG). We won the NFC South crown on the last day by beating Carolina 9-0 that year, and even beat Philly 32-9 in the 1st playoff game.

What stands out to me though about our 2023 defense is that when it REALLY COUNTED … in the Red Zone … our defense stiffened BIG-Time. They ranked #3 in the NFL that season in Red Zone TDs allowed (surrendered 23 TDs in 54 Trips into the Red Zone, for only 42.6% Allowed). Compare that to 2025 when our opponents made only 43 trips into the Red Zone, but scored on 30 of them … 69.8%). THAT’s the biggest difference in the 2 seasons: Can you keep your opponents out of the Red Zone?

I tend to believe that when your back’s against the wall like that (in the Red Zone), TALENT makes a much bigger difference than coaching strategy. It’s much more mano-a-mano IMO … and winning the 1-on-1’s. Bigger & nastier counts for a lot in those instances. With our new additions, I’ve become a lot more HOPEFUL about 2026 regarding our defense.

No defenses fear Baker. There’s only a handful of QBs left in the league who have that respect, Baker is not one of them. He certainly acts and has the swagger of one of them, but he’s not one of them.

  6. 813bucboi Says:

baker can definitely be slippery at times and does have some unique escape ability….

hope he gets down more and works on his footwork…under canales, his footwork was elite in the pocket…its definitely gotten sloppy since dave left

    GO BUCS!!!!

  7. BuccoMarty Says:

Wait… WHAAAAAAAAT?! You found a way to mention San Fran-nutso and not mention the ship jumper that you’re still obsessing over even after he left us without even the courtesy of a polite “good bye?”

  8. ChesterCopperpot Says:

Baker has averaged 9 wins and 8 losses in three years as a Buc in the regular season.

He’s 1-2 in the postseason after winning two division titles. Making him 28-26 overall.

And his record of 1-9 in prime time is just atrocious. Definitely not clutch.

Put all the lipstick you want to on that pig. But it’s still a pig.

No teams are in fear of Baker. He’s just a mid tier QB. At best.

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  10. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

I know Mosty Boyyz like to throw around the term Baker hate but because we’re not like them but thing to love about him is his Harry Houdini disappearing acts he creates when a sack looks like a sure thing and then poof he’s squeezed out of it like a grease pig with a new shade of lipstick on. That play against Crosby will alway be memorable as well as his blocking for Bycky 20 yards down field. If only his passing ability wouldn’t do the same act between quarts 2&3 where he’s forced to get a little frivolous with his passes and push the envelop too hard which leads to disasters at times.

  11. Obvious Says:

I watched the episode. I didn’t get that sense at all.

  12. Lokog Says:

Its doesn’t matter if baker can break tackles he’s just not a winner and everyone knows it

  13. Attaboy Says:

Ha ha ha!! I can remember so clear 3 years ago the haters saying Baker is slow and can’t run. How hilarious. He has proven them wrong at every turn. Baker IS our franchise qb!!!

  14. Attaboy Says:

Zoo ask the Seahawks if their defense is afraid of Baker. Ask Houstons defense about Baker?

  15. 3.28.Evans Says:

Sober Bucs fans are the only ones afraid of Baker, in part due to his head coach and defensive coordinator.

  16. #99 The Big Fella Says:

I knew you had it in you ,good job.! actually posted something without bashing.

  17. #1bucsfan Says:

This is what made me a baker fan. He never gives up even when he should sometimes. You gotta love his fight that’s in him

  18. Simple T Says:

Baker was filmed doing reps with 480+ squats in training. He’s got an armadillo move where he ducks under and gets compact giving opponents nothing to grab onto.

Definitely not an easy QB to get on the ground
