NFL Stripped Bucs Of A Spring Practice

June 11th, 2026

NFL commisioner Roger Goodell

Uplifting stuff from Todd Bowles this afternoon after practice.

The Bucs didn’t practice yesterday. Why? The NFL canceled it, Bowles said, because the league reviewed the Bucs’ first spring practice and decided “we had too many guys on the ground.”

Remember, all practice video is reviewed by the NFL and hitting his not allowed. It’s supposed to be glorified flag football with helmets.

Joe applauds this reality. The Bucs tried to get a little tougher through offseason personnel additions. They also brought it in a bunch of new assistant coaches and, Joe has been told, Bowles is all in favor of edgier practices.

It seems the Bucs went a little overboard. Bravo!

The ghost of Ray Perkins Three-A-Days will haunt Goodell for this – wait and see…

  2. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Would rather have to reign in it, than motivate to even be an element of practice.

    Work hard, play harder

  4. 3.28.Evans Says:

They’ve proven they don’t learn anything in practice, so might as well avoid the inevitable injuries.

Best team update I’ve heard all off-season. Although I have a funny feeling the Bucs might wanna sign Baker before the season starts. Gonna be a fun year to be a fan of the team stays healthy.

  6. ModHairKen Says:

    Well, follow the damn rules.

I like what I hear. Week one I want to see the bucs bully the bengals in the trenches.

  8. Bee Says:

So teams pay players more to practice less. Ok. Seems the NFL doesn’t want a better product. Plus ive heard many former players say the extra hitting prepared their bodies for the season. Oh well.

  9. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I’m not happy about it at all. Get a day off, come back and get injuries.

This commisioner is garbage it’s why we have soft bored players and everyone is hurt all the time Pete Roseland and Paul tagliabu were so so much better! This idiot wants to turn the nfl into a world flag football team. I pray for a new commisioner soon maybe then we can get back to real football and excited players and fans! Not to mention the crap halftime shows at the superbowl every year another topic for another post lol

  11. Jake Been there since the beginning Says:

Sounds like crap to me Joe. ESPN, NFL Network, and the NFL always hating on the Bucs. This looks like we might be feeding them the old crow, with some luck wouldn’t it be nice to do it again? Maybe 3 rings could shut their mouths for a while. Let’s Go Bucs!!!! Goodell wasn’t the greatest pick for the role 😕

  12. LynchMob50 Says:

It’s practice folks. Not a game, and not the regular season.

    We’re talking about practice??? Practice???

It’s like watching the out takes of a sitcom in pre production.

Absolutely meaningless and a waste of our time.

September 13th is just three months away. Then we can talk turkey.

  13. Bucscoott Says:

This league is so soft almost unwatchable, what a joke football has become

  14. Bartow Buc Says:

Rules are Rules as long as all teams are required to follow the same rules

    Go Bucs !!
