Rueben Bain Says “Get Your Popcorn Ready”

June 10th, 2026

Rueben Bain

The Buccaneers’ first-round pick is full of optimism.

In true Rueben Bain fashion, he had just the right things to say after throwing out the first pitch at the Tampa Bay Rays game on Monday.

On the scene was Joe’s friend Rock Riley of WDAE radio. Riley spoke 1-on-1 with Bain, who said he wasn’t really nervous because he had a similar experience in college.

“Down the middle, straight gas,” Bain said of his pitching approach.

Yes, Bain and Riley talked football. The Miami Mauler edge rusehr said what sticks out for him at One Buc Palace is team cameraderie. He said the entire defensive line has been very welcoming to him and all rookies.

Bain also said his new Bucs teammates have impressed him with their focus.

“The next-play mentality. People don’t really dwell on the past,” Bain said when asked about what’s impressed him. “They’re where their feet are.”

The rookie didn’t hesitate to tell fans a special season lies ahead.

“It’s going to be a great year,” Bain said. “Get your popcorn ready. Get your tickets ready.”

Bain was joined at the game with all other Buccaneers rookies.

Alligator arms will have trouble covering WR’s 25 yards downfield.

Bowles is going to wreck this kids abilities to sack the QB.

This Guy is the Main Reason to be excited about the Bucs this year and changing the culture and improving that Putrid Pass Defense of recent years past. Go Bucs!!

  9. Knothead71 Says:

I want to see that young man hit quarterbacks so hard they start seeing ghosts.
I think YaYa’s play will be elevated if Bain can be rough. And if Kancey can stay healthy and if ……Lot of hope here but it’s that time of year.
GO! BUCS! Let’s see the Bucs win their third Super Bowl!

    Snotbublers for the knothead!

  11. Duane Davis Says:

I saw his first pitch. High and outside at high school speed. Don’t give up your day job.

  12. Allen Lofton Says:

Playing in the NFL is a whole new level compared to College football. Hopefully he can back it up in the Pros. If he is as good as he claims to be the Bucs should have a big turnaround season. We will know the outcome within the first four games of the season. GO BUCS

  13. Knothead71 Says:

    @Steve V
I don’t know what snot bubblers are but I am not opposed to seeing a quarterback piss his pants when faced with a Tampa Bay Buccaneer rush.
To quantify that, I don’t want anyone hurt but I DO want every opposing offense to fear our pass rush. A LOT!

  14. Dewey Selmon Says:

Thank you Duane Davis. Was wondering about the pitch, would have thought a journalist would of found out.

There is no game to play yet you dullard.

Man, what a d-bag to get upset at someone not being boring.

The hype is overwhelming. If this guy turns out to be a Bowles Bust then so many of you are going to look foolish.

I am hoping against hope that he performs up to 90% of the hype. If so, you got a star in the making.

No kidding, what he should do is to tell everyone that he hasn’t even made the team yet, so Riley shouldn’t get ahead of himself. Then he should say that he hopes with hard work and some luck that one day perhaps he’ll have a chance to play and then when he does he’ll give it 110%.

Any player who says more than that is a punk in my book, just a show boater who doesn’t understand that the NFL is a business – not entertainment.
