Bucs Weren’t Much For Coming From Behind

July 13th, 2026

Scapegoat or just plain goat?

The Bucs, despite their firepower, didn’t have a great offense last year.

There are all sorts of reasons. And Joe is pretty confident that whatever excuse you can think of why the Bucs offense too often sputtered could be linked to two root causes:

An inexperienced offensive coordinator and/or injuries.

(Joe mentioned the following the other night to acquaintances: You didn’t hear much whining about former Bucs offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard prior to last year’s bye. And remember when the Bucs rang up 38 points in Seattle? Didn’t hear whining about Grizzard then, either.)

Per noted handicapper-turned-stathead Warren Sharp, the biggest deficit last year the Bucs overcame was a touchdown margin.

That’s not saying a whole lot. The Bucs had games in which they were down by more than that and, for whatever reason, couldn’t muster the energy to take that hill.

That needs to be fixed. At some points in the season, a team will find itself down two scores.

That shouldn’t be insurmountable with quality weapons.

“An inexperienced offensive coordinator and/or injuries.”

Maybe, just maybe there are starters on this team that aren’t really good. Maybe its an execution problem due to a lack of talent. This roster is average on its best day.

Special teams giving the opponent the ball at the 50 probably has something to do with the inability to come back.

That photo is quite the foreshadowing for Grizzard’s tenure as OC. The “inspire change” logo and ownership looming in the background waving goodbye, gulp.

Maybe a third reason can be attributed to the team’s inability to overcome a deficit, lack of character/leadership. They pouted and quit when things started to go sideways

It is also obvious this putrid Defense had something to do with these deficits. If this team can’t find commonality this year with all three phases of the game this year, we will be singing the same tune as last year. The offense will be better, although our backup quarterback is extremely questionable. The defense, I think, will gel much better and shock some so called experts. And special teams, as I have heard might have some more juice this year with our new coordinator. Just don’t allow this so called NFL linebacker John Bullock make any boneheaded plays.

We lost something like 5 of 6 after Bredeson went down. You can have ONE grocery-bagger at guard, but not TWO

Grizzard really needed to cut down on those 4th quarter INT’s he threw after the bye.

As well as those overthrown WR’s on 3rd and 10+. Grizzard had trouble throwing passes in key spots.

Mostly shocking was Grizzard’s inability to shut down QB’s with his defense, notably the Falcons and Dolphins. His scheme was terrible. Where was his pass rush???

Thankfully the Glazers and Licht saw this and cut the drift wood out into the Bay.

Bowles can now set his championship run in motion without the weight of the guilty party for 2025 off his back.

    🤣🤡🤣🤡🤣🤡🤣🤡🤣🤡

This article is directly related to a previous article about Bowles having too much faith in his defense.

It’s all connected and it lands at the feet of Todd.

Everyone talks about scoring points but Todd is so conservative and oddly, mistakenly, more confident in his very average if not poor defense than he is a top 5-10 offense.

It has cost numerous games. Code turtle vs Atlanta couple years ago, taking the ball from Brady, playoff game vs Wash…. Well Joe ran it down with examples in that previous article I mentioned.

A poor OC and poor QB play will absolutely doom you, injuries across the offense certainly don’t help so it’s obviously not all Bowles fault but his lack of faith in aggressive offense has a been a huge problem throughout his tenure.

A go for the jugular, confident, impose our will mindset/philosophy when we have the ball is the only way to reach your potential. Look across the entire sports landscape, conservative, protect a lead play … ends in losses.

As soon as Todd shows me his will to win with aggressive game planning and offensive football I will stop ragging on him and I will put the blame to the players for not executing and performing well enough. Until then, Todd is to blame cause he inspires nothing out there.

Stop the decline. Fire Todda the Hutt.

Injuries not the oc were the issue

Didn’t Todd Bowles “help” the offense last year? You mean to tell me he isn’t an offensive guru, too?

  11. Rod Munch Says:

So, wait, Baker blew a double digit 4th quarter lead vs the Falcons with his awful play – including THE worst INT I can remember, and missing a wide open receiver for a 1st down pass that ends the game. BTW, Winston never threw an INT in the 4th quarter of a game where the Bucs had a double digit lead, that’s a Baker exclusive stat.

Anywho, while blowing that game, he was never able to overcome a 7 point deficient? And people want to make him the 3rd highest paid QB in all of football?

Another conspiracy theory with zero evidence. Todd intefering with the offense is more fan fiction (troll fiction?) just repeated by people with an agenda or pushing a narrative imo.

Most forecasters use last year’s numbers to forecast for 2026. The Bucs were injured severely last year. These guys are too lazy or knowledgeable and are literally STUPID. They don’t know what they are talking about. Many of them barely know about evaluating player performance.

If I was a bettor, I would take the over on the Bucs and make some 💰

Munchesinfitsandstarts has a question, “And people want to make him the 3rd highest paid player in all of football?”
From “middling munchkin” to that, Rod. Dangdest thing I ever saw. Hehehehe.
