Nevin Shapiro Strongly Endorses Bucs’ Pick Of Rueben Bain

April 27th, 2026

Nevin Shapiro geeked over Bucs drafting Rueben Bain.

So let it be written, so let it be done. The selection by the Bucs of Rueben Bain will go down in NFL history as the 21st century version of the Steelers drafting Mean Joe Greene.

Who said? The notorious Nevin Shapiro, that’s who.

Will all the accolades Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht has received in the days after picking Bain to come to Tampa Bay and save the Bucs defense, none hold the weight of Shapiro’s words.

“I love this pickup for Tampa,” Shapiro said on TikTok. “He’s going to be a 10-15 sack guy.

“I love this pick for them. Great to see, man.”

Few men know talent like Shapiro. For those who are unaware of Shapiro’s power and influence, he ran a massive Ponzi scheme in South Florida, using much of the proceeds to bankroll those powerhouse Miami football teams around the turn of the century.

You know, those Ed Reed/Sean Taylor Canes along with Andre Johnson, Santana Moss, Clinton Portis, Frank Gore, Reggie Wayne, Jonathan Vilma, Bryant McKinnie, Kellen Winslow and more. Absolute juggernauts, largely thanks to Shapiro.

Even after doing time when he was pinched by the feds for securities fraud and money laundering, Shapiro returned to South Florida to host a popular podcast, mostly dealing with the Canes and South Florida sports. He’s still synonymous with Miami football, even if he’s kept at arm’s length from the program now.

But those monster Hurricanes teams never happen without Shapiro’s recruiting. So this man knows talent.

So we can put it to bed: Licht hit a 500-foot home run to dead center drafting Bain.

Nevin Shapiro said so.

Rueben Bain gets selected at the 15th position of the first round to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers For Tampa, this is a steal! Rueben Bain could’ve easily been a top 10 pick if all of the things in the media did not come out A lot of Miami Dolphins fans are very upset that they did not choose him before Tampa did Is Rueben Bain the best defensive end in this year’s NFL draft? Should the Dolphins have drafted him?

What’s Shapiro think about all the other stuff he will need to do to become the Jack of all trades Bowles demands? What does he think about B-Rex’s coverage skills?

  2. Rod Munch Says:

Has Bowles said anything yet on how the team plans to use B-Rex? Are they thinking he might put his hand in the dirt on 3-down? Him and Kancey playing on both sides of Vita, that would be a heck of a combo I think. Watching his tape, I do think he might be a better 4-3 style DE, but I think he’ll do well standing up or as a DE.

The picture you chose for this story is not it at all

Navin Shapiro puts out some of the best content in the space. Genuinely solid dude, with real knowledge—if you’re not following him, that’s on you.

  5. Sal Volatile Says:

WOW ! Excellent ! I don’t speak much at all if at all about the players because I’m not a talent evaluator nor am I plugged in to all things college football. I pay attention to the rankings and highlights and that’s about it.
As far as NFL ball goes it’s about the same. Regarding the Bucs I just call it like I see it. This fellow Bain, in my opinion, comes across to me as one serious professional dude. There is no BS with him at all. He strikes me as a Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde type. Off the field a nice guy but on the field a serious badass. I suspect that he will be the tone setter for the defense and that Bowles best wake up and pay attention. He may play the part of the next #99. I certainly hope so. Something tells me that when he gets his first preseason sack he’ll be off to the races. If Bowles moves him around just enough to keep offenses on their toes watch out.

    @Sal Volatile

He’s our James Harrison (aka DeeBo)

  7. LUVMYBUCS Says:

One can only hope he savors that role.

  8. LUVMYBUCS Says:

This is the type of player the Steelers always find — and the exact reason they’ve been the most dominant franchise of the last 50 years.

  9. LUVMYBUCS Says:

Offense is cute, but without a physically dominating defense, you’re just another flash in the pan. BlitzBurgh has had 7 losing seasons in 50 years — and the hallmark has always been DEFENSE. Now riddle me that.

With Bain’s footspeed, I think he’ll probably end up being another ‘pressures’ guy with alot of pressures and not alot of actual sacks.

I mean he didn’t have double digit sacks in college.
