Rueben Bain Key Figure In “Jurassic Park” Environment

April 25th, 2026

New Bucs edge rusher Rueben Bain.

Joe enjoyed listening to University of Miami head coach Mario Cristobal on ESPN TV today. His takes on new Bucs edge rusher Rueben Bain were uplifting.

The Bucs picked the Miami Mauler on Thursday night in Round 1. His availability surprised Bucs officials and they pounced.

Cristobal was asked how Bain cranked up his game to be a postseason monster. The premise was rejected.

“If you studied his film, that’s what he is. And he is that all the time,” Cristobal said of Bain.

Cristobal said the Miami practices were “Jurassic Park every day” with Bain workign on Giants first-round draft pick Francis Mauigoa (No. 10 overall) and others with fellow Miami edge rusher Akheem Mesidor.

“It was like the old school days at Miami,” Cristobal said. “…They sought each other out all the time. There were completely intent on perfecting their craft by going good-on-good at every opportunity.”

Joe loves how Bain gets to walk into Bucs training camp and push himself against Tristan Wirfs and Luke Goedeke. And Joe fully expects Todd Bowles to order Wirfs and Goedeke to deliver Bain their best.

Hey, T-Rex might have had short arms, but was still eating good lol

  2. Erik with UniqueModernArt.com Says:

A smaller Adrian Clayborn. Hopefully he ends up being good, but I think we might have been better off with Mesidor

  3. BA’s Red Pen Says:

What’s the O/U on how many practices before Bain Jr. and Goedeke throw hands?

  4. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

Whaaaa – I wanted this other player instead of this loser – said every troll of every pick ever picked.

How about, I would have preferred player A instead of selected player B and here is why. Followed by, yet I support player B and wish him well – welcome to Tampa.

Whaaaa – I hate our coach and want a new one, instead of – I would prefer coach A instead… you get it. Can’t change coach now so support our coach, players, and team.

Constant whining is boring, tiresome, and so lame.

    Go Bucs!

  5. Bucamania Says:

    No one.
    And I mean no one
who watched Miami play thinks 25yo Mesidor is better than Bain.

  6. MadMax Says:

Get his teammate Anez Cooper in the building (G)…maybe 7th or udfa

  7. Lakeland Says:

I’m glad Jason Licht didn’t pass in a pass rusher with 83 pressures in 2025

If you can find a better pass rusher, good luck

  8. Lakeland Says:

    “”pass on

  9. SB~LV Says:

Dumb luck…Great to have him on the roster

  10. DS Says:

Film don’t lie kid is a problem and is bendy

  11. Lakeland Says:

Jason Licht about to work his magic

  12. MadMax Says:

open 3rd day of the draft somewhere?

  13. ChiBuc Says:

Funny analogy, Jurassic Park environment, considering Bain’s “short” arm T-rex comparison

    ——
    one!

  15. MadMax Says:

    Joes, hi, open thread? 🙂

  16. MadMax Says:

Mccoy to the raiders, who traded up.

  17. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Spytek took McCoy off the board, smart move. First round talent/potential for a day 3 pick. That’s like buying a car with a bus pass

  18. ChiBuc Says:

    @74,
How about you put down some unique critical thinking content, instead of ironically whining about how ppl share their opinions on an opinion driven site. You may have noticed, ppl come here to talk bucs, layman style….hence the name, “joebucfan.” Maybe you should start your own site that reflects your preference for buccaneer info consumption…. “thelichtminionfanclub.”

  19. MadMax Says:

Im one of those, i welcome all opinions….everyone as long as the name calling is minimum.

  20. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Joe is probably getting drunk right now, lol

  21. Steven007 Says:

Chi, I could be wrong but I think 74 was reacting to Erik who mentioned he would have preferred another guy without mentioning why. And I think somebody upstream mentioned it, no one really thinks mesidor would have been better than Bain. Cool thing is we get to see it all play out this fall and in the future.

  22. David Says:

    Eric
    A smaller Adrian Claiborne?

Only by 1 inch and 10 pounds
BUT…. stronger, faster, more attitude, and relentless. A lot more similar to Dwight Freeney.

  23. Sal Volatile Says:

Let’s not forget that the draft isn’t the only vehicle for improving the roster. The unknown factor is who Jason may bring in or trade for after the draft. More veteran help is likely on the way.

    Seven OT’s Two DT’s One G were deemed 1st round talent .

There will be O and D linemen available for hire.

Maybe someone could use a bored corner.

  24. 3.28.Evans Says:

Hey Rod Munch, there’s the Jurassic Park reference to help lunch your B-Rex line of merchandise. While the rest of the defense is standing around in empty zones waiting from someone to run by them, at least we can’t watch B-Rex ingesting ankylosaurs and bronts.

  25. 3.28.Evans Says:

    *can watch

  26. MadMax Says:

    There goes OG Nwaiwu

  27. MadMax Says:

lol Bonzai, or really hung over from last night

  28. firethecannons Says:

Bucs needed an asshole as edge. now they got one. Hope they let him do what he does best.

  29. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

If Bain ends up being great…he’ll likely embrace the T-Rex nickname…just to rub it in people’s faces, lol.

  30. DrunkInYbor Says:

Did I really see somebody at the top say a smaller Adrian Clayborne. Then write I hope hes good. Clayborne played hard but wasn’t (good). Stand on your ridiculous statement. You see what Noone else sees. Your a football savant.

  31. 28.3.Evans Says:

Nice, let’s start another nickname that our player learns to hate (Muscle hamster anyone). Real great fans here in Tampa bay

  32. Sal Volatile Says:

That T-Rex/B-Rex is great but may face licensing problems for merchandise.

  33. Capt.Tim Says:

I’m excited about Bain! The B-Rex will soon be the emperor of the line of Scrimmage!
I would normally worry about arm length, but Bain is an exception. It gets in close to o-linemen’s Chest, then explodes away. It turns a potential weakness in to a strength.

Jason Licht has wasted so many picks on just stupid selections of D-Linemen. This pick is a Home run!
It wil help us forget Noah Spence, Joe Tryon, Logan Hall, And Kancey, among others.

    Bain is legit

  34. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    28.3.Evans, we didn’t start the term Muscle Hamster…or T-Rex.

  35. MadMax Says:

Getting close….cb Lee 3 still there

  36. MadMax Says:

lee the third is getting taken to the hold chamber for some reason, but hes still there

  37. Sal Volatile Says:

We/they need a very serviceable veteran DT backup for Vita that’s a few years younger and can play both roles in case Kancey gets beat up again.

  38. MadMax Says:

just watch…commercial break when we pick….been this way for years lol…..no respect!

  39. MadMax Says:

Nate Robinson dt, i got you Sal….one of our 5ths

  40. MadMax Says:

    Landon robinson….sorry

  41. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

So, positions of need right now are?

    G
    CB or Safety
    DT

    Am I right?

  42. Sal Volatile Says:

Why abuse yourself with the TV broadcasts ? Just keep 3 tabs open; NFL, 4letter and JBF. By the time you look in on each the “on the clock” is done.

  43. MadMax Says:

    yep….throw a te in there.

  44. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Tubi is a constant pick behind…but at least they’ll show film after the pick. I don’t have cable, so…

  45. MadMax Says:

oh i do that now Sal, learned about 5 yrs ago.

  46. Sal Volatile Says:

With all the OT’s going this year surely quality veteran backups will be found.

  47. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    There’s the CB

  48. Sal Volatile Says:

    There’s the nickel. Goodbye Zyon.

  49. Sal Volatile Says:

It appears the message for “refreshed thought” on defense was received loud and clear. So if Jason and Mr. Bowles like the makeup of that Miami defense maybe someone pointed out the coaching as well.

  50. Mveal2006 Says:

We won a super bowl because alstott Lynch sapphire brooks and ronde really liked to hit people.
Sapp was not nice about it either.

I know they changed the rules to make it more acceptable to people the nfl marketing dept added to the fan base. But hopefully the league quietly realized their error
We may finally be getting some hitters like champion bucs instead of Hassan jts hall etc

    I sure hope do

  51. ToesOnTheLine!!! Says:

Damn…’Phins snag Rodriguez last night and now Louis!!! Not like JL was likely gonna draft either, but it’ll be interesting to see how the LB’s Licht passed on compare to Trotter over the next couple years. I do have faith in Licht to find an OG in the draft (or if a vet gets cut), so I guess I can now just chill watching how things play out for the rest of the draft?

  52. GetBucInHere. Says:

28.3 Evans constantly complaining about everything the coaching staff and management has done this offseason but decides to call out the fans for coming up with silly nicknames? But creates silly nicknames for the coach and GM? Oh and the metaphors, there’s a name for people like you which I can’t post…everyone knows what it is tho.
