Daniel Jeremiah Lists A “Fun” Pick For Bucs At No. 15

So this was a fun exercise. And to be consistent, former NFL scout and current NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah offered up a fun pick for the Bucs at No. 15.
Mina Kimes hosted Jeremiah (they’re now co-workers thanks to BSPN’s hostile takeover of NFL Network) on her podcast and she had a twist on a schlock draft.
She gave Jeremiah an either-or pick when a specific team was on the clock.
When it was time for the Bucs at No. 15, Kimes gave Jeremiah, playing the part of Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht, the choice of Auburn edge rusher Keldric Faulk or Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq.
Both Kimes and Jeremiah noted how badly the Bucs need an edge rush. But weighing Faulk and Sadiq, Jeremiah sided with a “fun” pick of Sadiq. Jeremiah said he based his choice on past conversations with Licht, not necessarily because he thought Sadiq was a no-brainer.
“I’m gonna surprise you,” Jeremiah told Kimes. “I’m gonna take Sadiq. So I have a much higher grade on him [than Faulk].”
Jeremiah said Sadiq would be a sneaky good pick because no matter how deep the Bucs’ wide receiver room is, there’s still a hole left by Mike Evans.
Sadiq, who could be used as a slot or out wide, could help fill the gap, Jeremiah said.
“Mike Evans goes out … you kind of replace [him with Sadiq’s skillset],” Jeremiah said. “You got some balls and some production to replace. They’ve got a deep room, still a solid receiver room, but this, this is fun [with Sadiq].
“And again, [with] Baker [Mayfield], I think that would be a good combination there, run after catch, let him go.”
Then, Jeremiah offered insight into Licht’s draft-day thinking. He said Licht is suspicous of edge rushers that didn’t produce in college.
Faulk at Auburn had 10 sacks in 37 games, and just 2 in 12 game of last season.
“The other thing is, Jason, when I’ve talked to Jason Licht in the past over the years, we’ve talked about edge rushers. He mentions production a lot.
“The pressure percentage [with Faulk] is low, the win percentage is low,” Jeremiah said. “He’s one of the more tricky players for me, because I love the body, I love how hard he plays. He’s all the stuff [you want] off the field, great kid. He doesn’t play with a ton of snap or urgency.”
Jeremiah did admit he had Licht picking Miami beast edge rusher Akheem Mesidor in his schlock drafts on NFL.com. Unlike Faulk, Mesidor does have production. But that was not the choice Kimes gave him.
“This Joe” would be on board with Sadiq. Joe gets all the reasons why the Bucs may draft Sadiq. And “this Joe” does not want an edge rusher at No. 15 — after the first round, great! — because “this Joe” doesn’t want to see a first-round pick thrown away.
The next double-digit edge rusher Bucs coach Todd Bowles develops will be his first. And Joe does not like high-stakes gambling against never.

A 1st round TE is a 1st round thrown away.
Blowing a 1st in order to bench Godwin/Egbuka for all these 2 TE sets and still not have a real outside guy on the field.
Everyone thinks the WR room is so great as is (it’s not) yet the fun fantasies include never allowing a WR to sniff the field.

Fun? It would be fun to watch McDonald caving in the middle of the line of the line of scrimmage and watching those young NFC South QBs deal with that. It’d be an awful lot of fun watching JRod creating a turnover dang near every game and if we should somehow get both of them, well, I don’t believe their could be anything more fun than that- at least with your clothes on.

Sadiq is definitely a far better choice than Faulk, who in my opinion is worth a 4th round flyer, at best.

Of those players are worth a 15 pick.

Less valuable player at a more valuable position vs a more talented individual at a less valuable position.

Faulk looks like a good option and can play the run very well too. Would be a great addition to the D line. Sadiq has some question marks and may not be the prototype size for TE but has record speed and would add a new element to the offense.

Im not sure drafting, or not drafting players because of Bowles should come into play. You draft these guys for the future and Bowles may or may not be a part of that future.
News just came out about Bain being in fatal car accident for reckless driving, maybe that causes him to fall to 15? Doubtful, but that would be the biggest no brainer pick if it were to happen.
If not, and the Bucs cant trade down, im beginning to think they go CB or DT at 15.
Fun to me would be watching a defense that can get off the field more often on 3rd downs.

Real draft can’t get here fast enough. Number 15 needs to be an every down defensive player. For me that’s Rodriguez.

If they must.. it would give another dimension to the offense… my preference would be to trade back into the 20’s, net a 2nd and some change and grab ILB Jacob Rodriguez of Texas Tech. He gives me Luke Keuchly feels. Keuchly was a production monster at BC and I absolutely loved his tape. GMs and scouts didn’t think he would test extremely well and then he showed up big and way faster than people realized. At that point, I wanted him at #7 overall, we traded back, Carolina grabbed Keuchly, we got Mark Barron, which was still better than the two schmoes most Bucs fans wanted, RB Trent Richardson or CB Mo Claiborne… well, Claiborne was a toss-up… either way, I saw Keuchly as can’t miss, I see the same in Rodriguez. Maybe not quite a Keuchly style dominator, but definitely a David-style disruptor and key cog for years.

Not fun, dumb. Great way to tank the Bucs for another season. I would go with Faulk over Sadiq. Faulk is big, fast and strong. 6’5”. 276-288 pounds. He was used inside a lot by Auburn as a run stopper, but I think he can be developed as an edge rusher. Bucs have the coaches to do that right? lol.

Faulk is like Logan Hall to me. A goofy tweener with no set position. Too tall and slow for an edge and too light to put his hands down. If we go edge, its gotta be Mesidor or Bain if he falls.

Licht can claim he’s focused on college production, but Braswell didn’t have much in 3 years, and JTS & Diaby only needed one decent season to pique his interest enough to draft them. Watch what people do, not what they say.

The first 3-4 picks should ALL be on defense, anything other than that it is a firable offense
Bucs lack talent on the defense at ALL levels, which is wild since the “celebrated GM” has been here for over 10 years and the team has more holes than a Trump speech

Agreed Kenton Smith. If we can nab DT McDonald and LB Jacob Rodriguez, that would a huge step in bringing our defense back into prominence. If Licht can pull that off we’re cooking with gas!

Personally I would want one of the following three guys if we can’t trade back:
McCoy at CB
Mesidor at edge
Ioana at G
If we don’t get edge in round one then there are a bunch of guys that at least one of them will be there in round two:
Young, Lawrence,MasonThomas,Parker ,Moore,Howell
If we do go edge in round one then in round two it is no brainer to take best inside linebacker available. Rodriguez or Hill would be my targets.
My third round pick if I wanted to go offense because I went defense in the first two rounds would be Eli Stowers. To me he is a better all-around tight end and also crazy athletic and not as costly as Kenyon. Also if you look at his size and his performance at the combine he has very similar and in some areas much better than Mike Evans was.
If he isn’t there then I would look at defensive tackle out of Florida State or Josiah Trotter at inside linebacker.

If we can trade back say with Pittsburgh and grab an extra third round pick then I would want to go McDonald at defensive tackle in round one
Round two would go for either Rodriguez or Hill depending on who was available
In round 3 would go Stowers and ? Ndame Tucker?

Offense in the 1st round at a position we aren’t in high need of is a waste of a pick. To spend the second year and not feel the holes we have on defense would be a failure by the front office. Probably should have hit the free agency Bill a little bit harder if they wanted to think they were in a position for luxury picks.

If Saqiq is there at 15 I would take him. Immediate impact player, he is being compared to Trey McBride and George Kittle has elite speed, athleticism and a willing blocker. At 15 I don’t believe we get an impact defensive player unless Styles, Baine etc. fall which ain’t gonna happen.

We kept losing as we got healthier.
Blame Grizzard, Blame a hurt Baker, or other injuries, but that is the single biggest red flag for Bowles you can have.
This team flat out sucked to end the year and Bowles couldn’t fix it.

If his first pick is Faulk, Licht becomes a laughingstock. I agree with SMack. No higher than 4th round.
