Does Mike Evans Want A Two-Year Deal?

March 2nd, 2026

If Mike Evans tests free agency when the dinner bell rings next Monday, he’ll surely find at least a team or two willing to give him a two-year contract.

How a team would value the 2027 version of Evans at 34 years old is unclear, but there will be a club willing to put a price on securing Evans for 2026 and 2027. Joe has no doubt.

Heck, coming off a major knee injury (ACL), receiver Stefon Diggs signed a three-year, $63.5 million deal with the Patriots last March. Diggs turned 32 in November.

Last March, Rams receiver Davante Adams signed a two-year, $44 million contract — at 32 years old.

Joe supposes there’s a chance Evans might only want a one-year contract, but that seems unlikely.

There’s great confidence at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters that Evans will re-sign with Tampa. And man, it would be a lot of fun if Evans commits to two more seasons. That could turn out to be a questionable decision by the Bucs if Father Time tackles Evans from behind, but it feels like a gamble worth taking.

  1. Truth be Told Says:

I said it at the start. ME is not going anywhere. Why would he? To chase a SB ring? He already has one. Oh, and YES Buffalo is just beautiful this time of the year. And maybe Mike needs to be reminded that city is Snakebit. Winning a Super Bowl in Buffalo is never going to happen.

    Fire Todd Bowles

  3. Stpetematt Says:

I grew up a Bills fan and moved here in 1997. By 1998, I was a Bucs fan. The Bucs rewarded me with 2 Super Bowls which was something I suffered through in NY. I sincerely doubt the Bills win anytime soon- especially if they never pick up receiving help.

  4. gbobucsfan Says:

Let this year be LVD’s last year and 2027 be Mike’s last hurrah. Yeah, it’s a gamble but those guys earned it. Yes, there needs to be backups but I’m not ready to let them go…..yet!!

  5. ModHairKen Says:

If they re-sign him straight up, without the tag, it sends a great message to FAs. That Licht thinks they are close.

If you want to change the view of the Bucs, get Maxx. Honestly, even if it costs two 1st Round picks. Then get a ILB in FA. And a G.

  6. Hodad Says:

Don’t care what he does anymore. Stay, go, we’ll be .500 either way.

  7. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Hodad, that’s a pretty positive outlook you have there. Eoes that carry over to the rest of your life?

  8. Hodad Says:

BB, what have they shown to make me feel different? You think signing Evans, David back equals championship? We’ve been running it back since Brady retired to no avail. It ain’t happening this season either.

  9. Football 1 Says:

Well Joe I definitely agree. Hopefully you saw my post earlier mentioning that your competitor thinks Evans is more leaning toward leaving than staying based on his info. I like the 2 year deal for a few reasons, believe the Bucs would too.
Anyway sure hope you are correct Joe

  10. HC Grover Says:

He too old let him go.

  11. HC Grover Says:

Hodad catches the wave. Hangs 10.

  12. Fanofdabucs Says:

Mike’s agent is just doing is typical agent dance to get Mike the deal he wants..that’s his job and he’s pretty good at it. Evans isn’t going anywhere. The Bucs will figure out a deal that works for both sides.

  13. Teacherman Says:

    Mike Evans is a Hero!

    Unlike many posters on here!

    2 more years. Fully guaranteed.

    Go Bucs!

  14. Ash Says:

Gonna be sad with that confidence joe when he leaves Evans is looking for a three year deal.

  15. Davenport Says:

    Evans isn’t worth 20m+ a year.
Time isnt kind to receivers over 32 and Evans is already breaking down – he’s slower, pushes off more than ever, and is missing more games than he ever has.

Just like with D. Brooks before him, its time to move on.

  16. View from 132 Says:

Hodad is correct. Mike Evans doesn’t make you a Super Bowl contender. He disappeared in the Super Bowl while Gronk and Brown took over. He’s a fantasy stats hero.

  17. JA Says:

It remains the same until he decides to sign. And that is … none of us know Mike Evans personally.
Family first — do they wish to relocate, or would they mind him relocating and commuting, when possible?
Does he want to go after another ring with a team with a better chance to reach the Super Bowl or remain here and cash checks?
Our winters are nice, but summer camp and the first few weeks of the season are brutal. We rely on AC for comfort where northern teams rely on heat.
Bottom line: I think most of us want Evans to conclude his career here. But no matter what he decides I think he deserves our respect. He’s earned it.
From Manning to Farve to Randy Moss, Jerry Rice and closer to home Tom Brady, many HOF greats finished their careers with a new team.

  18. Doooshlarue Says:

I like Mike but it’s time to let him go.
    The funds are needed elsewhere.

  19. LynchMob50 Says:

Licht will overpay to keep ME, his first and best draft pick.

Always tough to say goodbye to a clutch player of his magnitude.

Baker would not last long without that safety valve.

Plus we will be playing from behind all year thanks to Bowles defense.

Offense will be a premium. Might as well go all in and try to run up the score.

With Dennis and LVD coming back it will only get uglier.

  20. Confido75 Says:

I think ME13 would sign a 2 yr deal to stay in Tampa, if JL adds the right FAs and depth to the roster to make this team a contender again. Lets be real, if this team was stacked and ready to win a SB, ME13 would have resigned already and for a team friendly deal. ME13 is making it known, “You want me, then get the guys needed to win a SB!”.

  21. john Says:

same deal as davante with the perception of winning it all while agreeing to trade to contender if team falls flat before deadline.

  22. JimBobBuc Says:

Joe will always get lots of website hits talking about Evans. But there are other Bucs FA’s to talk about:

Jamal Dean Spotrac Market Value $12.5m
    Logan Hall $8m
    Cade Otton $7.9m
    LVD $7.4m
    Haason Reddick $4.9m
    Sterling Shepard $3.3m
    Raashad White $3.0m

  23. BuccinBaker6, Says:

I’d Take Mike for 2 years he just keeps balling lock him.up.Buc for life

  24. #1bucsfan Says:

It’s worth the risk. Shoot this past training camp he looked the best he’s ever did. Does that look like someone bout to be tackled by Father Time. That’s a negative. He broke his collarbone. If it was one of his knees or ankles then I’d see why fans wouldn’t want him back but that’s not the case. Hes still a baller. The offense runs thru him. Evans with a healthy Godwin and the rest of our WR this offense is so dangerous. Biggest question mark is if Zac can get us back to when we had coen. That offense was nasty.
