CBS: Bradley Chubb To Bucs Is A Better Version Of Haason Reddick

February 18th, 2026

Better gamble than Haason Reddick?

Same move; better chance of success.

The sentence above sort of sums up how Jared Dubin of CBS feels about the Bucs making a run at signing ex-Dolphins edge rusher Bradley Chubb.

The Dolphins announced Chubb would be one of several players slashed for to add salary cap room and begin a possible rebuild.

Dubin thinks Chubb is sort of the same player Haason Reddick was. The Bucs signed Reddick a year ago in free agency but it appears the downslide to his career began before the Bucs signed him.

Chubb has more gas in the tank than Reddick did, or does, per Dubin.

The Bucs tried to juice up their pass rush last offseason by adding Haason Reddick. It didn’t work out. They could take a similar flier on Chubb, who has at least been productive more recently than Reddick, who was coming off a lost season in New York and Philadelphia when Tampa signed him last year.

Joe had no problem with the Reddick signing and still doesn’t. To be fair, Reddick has a significantly better body of work than Chubb. But it is clear now that Reddick has seen better days.

In his first season after knee surgery last year, Chubb started all 17 Dolphins games and had 8.5 sacks. That’s more sacks than any Bucs player has had since Bucs sacks king Shaq Barrett had 10 in 2021.

Sure. Why not? It’s going to be hard to get elite FAs to sign here. So if he’s willing, bring him in.

Is he better than YoYo? Yeah. Better than Reddick? Can’t be worse.

    And he won’t cost picks.

  2. miken Says:

The question is, can he cover backs and receivers thanks to the genius scheme our awesome coach runs. Also, Reddick is a bum.

There was another article on another site that did a really good job of exploring, the Bucs cap – how much money Mike Greenberg could free up, but how extremely misleading it is. The Bucs absolutely cannot sign a Trey Hendrickson, and sign Devin Lloyd. Forget it. We cant sign Trey Hendrickson and retain Mike Evans – for those of you with small town inferiority complex that can bear the thought of Evans somewhere else for a year. The bucs are in a spot – they will have much more flexibility in the next year or 2. Like it or not – its gnna be some PATCHWORK, hoping the draft picks hit, and hoping no one gets injured. the latter being hilarious, considering in today’s NFL people get injured more often than not. Absolute best case, is their offense is 2024 level – have some competent linebackers that dont get lost in space, and they could certainly be frisky. Make no mistake, theyre running it back with mostly the same roster and banking on they wont have the same injury luck. Best of luck with all that

Two of those 8.5 came against the Bucs. But always be wary when teams let players like him walk. They might know something. If it was really just about money they can always make moves to fit them under the cap if they REALLY wanted to keep them. Smells like another Reddick trap to me.

  5. Lol Says:

I really hope the Bucs bring in 2 top shelf (or close to it) guys. They truly need it. Chubb would be a great START and a depth piece. I would want them to draft a guy early or sign another to bolster the ranks.

No more depending on late rounders who still need to learn how to drop in to coverage so Bowles can play his genius games. Bowles wants all of his edge guys to be LT but thats just not feasible

  6. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    No!

Bradley Chubb is 2-6 for healthy seasons. He is extremely injury prone!

How about some susgestions who are reliably healthy???

  7. Tony Says:

If they don’t go out & try to do something on D in FA then nobody wants to hear about their moaning & complaining about things. They need to get out of that stupid scheme, too!

  8. Mhystc Says:

Players come to Tampa, and forget how to rush the passer.. happens every time.

  9. Toddler Bowles Says:

    Intriguing option, Joe.

Did you guys watch the film of his sacks? Were they hard fought or easy pickings against 3 string linemen (you mentioned 2 sacks were against the Bucs)? Can you look at the film and let us know your opinion.

  10. Tony Says:

SIGN TYREEK & MOVE HIM TO CB! HE’S SUPPOSED TO BE FAST LIKE A CHEETAH. So why not.👍😁 PUT HIM BACK THERE WITH ANTOINE!✌️

  11. Bama Rich Says:

Kayvon Thibodeaux would be a better option. He’s younger and just completed his first contract.

  12. HC Grover Says:

Do not waste money or picks on the Bowzo Defense. Go for offense players.

  13. Bojim Says:

I’d check it out. Take some pressure off YaYa. And in turn YaYa would take some pressure off him. Two double digit sackers.

  14. Truth be Told Says:

Yes he can Fog a Mirror and Rush the Passer. Sign him!

One question though-how is he in Pass Coverage? Lol

  15. Zoocomics Says:

Chubb to Reddick comparison is dumb.

Reddick is an undersized pass rusher, was drafted in the first only because he was listed as an ILB, would not have been drafted there if ID’d as OLB because of his size. IMO, any successful OLB at 6-1 in the NFL has a vast array of pass rushing tools, using speed and quickness, vs. being a physical mauler. After 30, much like Shaq, the tools aren’t enough to overcome the physical decline that comes with age.

Chubb is built like Michael Bennett, 6-4, 265lb, which is prototypical size for DE. A healthy Chubb gives you a true 4-3 hand in the dirt DE role, and yet you hope he’s athletic enough for his role as an OLB. Even at 30, due to his size, he still has value. If we get him, I think we can count on consistent pressure, and at least 7-8 sacks.

  16. Winny Testaverde Says:

If the bonus Chubb received for his late season sack(s) vs the Bucs counts towards a signing bonus…then maybe. The Bucs helped Chubb earn a million dollar + incentive in that late last season debacle vs the Miami Ewers.

  17. Teacherman Says:

    He’s a mercenary not a champion!

  18. Bradinator Says:

Teacherman- “He’s a mercenary not a champion!” How so? Only played for 2 teams, Denver and Miami and he was traded to Miami.

  19. Bucamania Says:

Licht really can’t evaluate edge rushers AT ALL

  20. Fred McNeil Says:

I think Chubb would be perfect for us. The Dish were going to pay him $18.5 mil. Comparably to what we paid Reddick. I could go for that.

  21. Fred McNeil Says:

Chubb turns 30 just before camp. Not bad.
