Zac Robinson Won The Press Conference
January 28th, 2026Yesterday, the Tampa Bay community got to meet Zac Robinson for the first time. And from Joe’s perspective, Robinson is a made-for-TV coach.
Robinson commanded the media studio at One Buc Palace like few others. He strode briskly to the podium, and with hardly any pleasantries, jumped right into who he was and why he was in Tampa Bay and what he planned to do.
Strong. Confident. Articulate. Almost forceful. Smooth. The room was Robinson’s.
To Joe, Robinson looked and audibly sounded like Bruce Almighty. And sort of like a savvy politician (which Bruce Almighty’s brother was), Robinson deftly slid away from subjects he didn’t want to discuss.
When Joe directly asked Robinson if he talked to Mike Evans (Robinson’s son, Conner, wore a Mike Evans creamsicle jersey to the press conference), Robinson smoothly dodged Joe’s question, saying, “I’ll kind of leave that out.”
Responding to another question from Joe if Liam Coen, who Robinson admitted being very tight with, sold him on the Bucs’ job, Robinson said no sales job was needed. He wanted to come to Tampa Bay.
Robinson said this with Mayfield standing in the back of the room, trying to be inconspicuous.
Then, Robinson confirmed he was at Tampa International Airport to catch a flight back home after his sitdown with the Bucs, and the Bucs called him before he could board the plane, offering him the job.
Also, Robinson spoke glowingly about his NFL mentor, Rams coach Sean McVay and how he earned a master’s degree in football from McVay.
Honestly, Robinson instilled a lot of confidence in folks. He certainly did to Joe, even if he was evasive in some of his responses.
For Joe, there was no doubt Robinson won the press conference. You know who else won his first press conference with the Bucs? Former Bucs commander Greg Schiano.
No, that’s no knock on Robinson (or Schiano). Joe brings that up because winning the press conference has absolutely zero to do with winning games on Sundays (or Mondays, or Thursdays).

I like the hire and think this will go really well

I agree it’s the best hire we could make after McDaniel.
Hopefully he learned some things in Atlanta which he eluded to.
Way more horses in Tampa to execute.

Which dumpster gets filled faster? There’s a winner of sorts in a contest like that, too.
The Sewer of Shame already stinks and only getting more ripe every day. Of course, no 3rd and 28 talk.
Loserville. Stinks.

I agree with this Joe. The proof is in the pudding.

Poor guy.
January 28th, 2026 at 5:05 am
Am I the only one who thinks he kinda looks like Elvis?

His best moment was when he spoke about offensive energy. His predecessor brought none. With just an ounce of energy, this offense will fly.

We’ll see what Robinsons got. Covered a lot in the presser, as always Bucs media pound found ways to ask the same questions with different wording lol
-Like that he’s obviously a little familar with our personnel
-mentioned tempo and emphasized energy.
-made a few comments that’d lead me to believe he’s been hands-on with the draft process
-Sounded like a less full of it version of Liam Coen in terms of tone. When he said they talk everyday, I believed him because you can hear it
-Called our TEs “Stable & Steady”, I could see him seeing potential in Cade that needs some unlocking
-Lit up a little when he mentioned the WR Talent(what OC wouldn’t?)
I’ll be on the lookout to hear more. Want to hear specifics about what he may want from our OL in terms of our blocking scheme. I’m hoping we keep it hybrid and maybe base it out of gap runs, but also lean into some zone fits up front.

He has a pulse.
That’s a huge plus over Bowles, our Chief Stoicism Officer.
We like heartbeats.

Never liked Schiano, from the beginning.
Zac brings in some strengths. However, on the way to work this morning, 620 radio mentioned that Zac talks to Liam Coen everday except when they play each other. Didn’t realize how close friends they were. Interesting because, he must have talked to him at the time when Liam left suddenly for the Jags.

Maybe we can win more than just press conferences instead.
January 28th, 2026 at 7:07 am
Question is, could you see him as a interim head coach?

*Cooper
Kids name was cooper, I don’t know why I remember that

“Kids name was cooper, I don’t know why I remember that“
I’d bet Kupp inspired this name, Robinson was one of Cooper WR coaches with the Rams.

3rd and 28. Cooper Kupp.
Both are references that immediately evoke Buccaneer failures caused by Toodles Bolwes.

Sounded exactly like Coen, nothing like Arians Joe.
January 28th, 2026 at 8:28 am
You know who else won the press conferences early on — Jameis Winston.
Some guys are very good at it.
In the end, we will access them on their ability to deliver — not win press conferences.
