If Mike Evans returns for the 2026 season, there is no doubt in Joe’s mind that Chris Godwin and Evans will go down as one of the greatest receiving duos in NFL history.

If Evans returns, the two need only 56 yards receiving to surpass Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne as having compiled the fourth-most receiving yards for a pair of receivers in history. And reaching third-most status would also be in easy reach so long as both Evans and Godwin can stay healthy.

Evans and Godwin have combined for 17,100 yards receiving. That’s 55 behind Harrison and Wayne (17,155). Currently at No. 3 is Mark Clayton and Mark Duper, the 1980s Dolphins stars who have 17,512 yards receiving combined.

At No. 2, Jerry Rice and John Taylor are probably out of reach, as they combined for 18,224 yards receiving.

Joe never would have guessed before reading this from the Bucs’ media relationship department.

Evans and Godwin have been together nine seasons. Clayton and Duper needed 10 seasons to accumulate their numbers, the longest a receiving duo has played together.

Aside from Evans (13,052 receiving yards), only Justin Jefferson (8,480) with the Vikings has more receiving than Godwin (7,626) when it comes to receivers playing for the team that drafted them.

If Evans comes back, remember that Godwin has two seasons remaining on his contract. And Joe fears that may end the golden age of offense for the Bucs franchise.
