The current mess is worse than Jon Gruden crapping the bed and finishing 9-7 after starting the 2008 season 9-3.
That got Chucky fired a few weeks after the final whistle.
Lots of Bucs fans are feeling all things Bucs history after watching the ew Raise The Flags documentary on Amazon Prime chronicling the team’s entire history over 10 episodes.
Joe’s feeling historic, too, and feeling damn sick about the Bucs nosediving from a 5-1 record this season to now being 7-8. This is Lost Decade kind of stuff, even worse than Greg Schiano leading the Bucs to a 6-4 record in 2012 and then finishing 7-9.
At least back then, the quarterbacks in the NFC South were Drew Brees, Matt Ryan and Cam Netwon. That trio was among the best ever in a division. The Bucs and the Todd Bowles defense just lost to weaksauce rookie QB Tyler Shough, broken down Kirk Cousins and below average Bryce Young in successive weeks — not a winning team among them before kickoff.
It is that bad.
Yes, Joe knows the Bucs can make the playoffs with a win in Week 18 against the Panthers at home, if Carolina loses next week to sizzling Seattle.
At this point, the playoffs would barely be a consolation prize for what 2025 Bucs fans have experienced.

Again, this team can’t get off the field defensively when it has to. It’s punishing to watch them. Don’t want them to lose, but if the payoff is, that Bowles will be gone and this defense will have a different philosophy. I’m all for. I can’t take much more of this. They didn’t play bad like Atl or NO. Thy just did not play well.
It was poor and predictable play calling by Grizzard. Poor tackling. Goedeke seemed like he was on the take. Pass rush virtually nonexistent. Dean got beat in a predictable situation.
Dungy and Gruden were fired for less than this.
Bowles will be gone. Licht built this team. He should be feeling heat.
Baker is not capable of winning big games.
It’s strange. This is an almost .500 team, but I think less of them than some of the years they went 2-14.

The defense sucks, the play calling sucks, Baker is ineffective because of poor o-line play on passing downs, and the special teams suck (particularly kickoff coverage). Other than that, I think we’re in pretty good shape. I was late to the mob, but I think I’m joining the fire Bowles crowd.

Terrible defensive play call to blitz with like 15 seconds in the 2nd quarter, and then terrible offensive playcalling to put the ball in Baker’s hand end of game when you’re already in field goal range… why stop running the ball then? Game changing and game losing playcalls.

Because I’m a Bucs fan I want them to win out and even make the playoffs no matter how I believe they’ll play if they get there. These Baker fans only love him and don’t belong up here. Unfortunately the injury bug bit harder on the Bucs than any team except maybe the Lions. My opinion, Mayfield is hurt worse than he let’s on. Reminds me of his season in CLE before they released him. They need some major upgrades on D though, when losing Kancy turns your whole defense into a turnstile

The cracks in this team begin to fester before the start of the regular season! As the season progressed, the folks in control were using baling wire and grey tape to keep it manageable. Fans were gaslighted into believing the slump will end, it always does, but this slump started on day one of training camp.

A few things:
1. Baker is not being used properly. Late in the 4th quarter and you have your QB 14 for 18 for 118 yards. That’s a huge problem. Most teams have that by the 2nd half. That’s on coaching staff.
2. Inability to wrap up and tackle on crucial downs. I’d say that’s on players, but after several weeks of seeing it happen, it’s on coaching staff.
3. Luke Goedeke continues to screw up at the worst times, but neither fans nor coaching staff seem to notice this. That’s on stupid fans, and once again, on coaching staff.

Remember Bowles said he wanted to run the ball . Win the time of possession and it will reflect on the scoreboard eventually. Ok but what if the Panthers or any team scores more points. Oline, and ST screw up. Defense cannot get off the field. Baker screws up.

A few things:
1. Baker is not being used properly. Late in the 4th quarter and you have your QB 14 for 18 for 118 yards. That’s a huge problem. Most teams have that by the 2nd half. That’s on coaching staff.

Did Baker screw up? Sure he did. But..If our Defense would get off the field here and there and stop opponents, there would be no need for drama at the end and relying on our Offense all of the time. Todd Bowles Defenses really suck bad. I’m finished with these clowns. I hope we lose the remaing games so the Glazers will Finally fire Bowles. Fire Licht too. Blow it all up. Baker had a few mistakes, and the defense gave up the lead like they always do. But I actually don’t think the defense was too terrible, other than the missed first tackles and the deep bomb we gave up before the half. It was all on the bad play calling on offense. Grizzard doesn’t belong in this league, and Bowles has done a terrible job of taking over as a leader to correct these problems. He’s just too passive. Again, your QB should have more than 118 yards in the 4th quarter, so obviously were not throwing the ball enough. Especially since he was 14 for 18 at that point. This isn’t rocket science.
Again, I know it’s easy to blame Baker because of the last play. But all you brainstems need to look at the game as a whole. Baker was in another pressure cooker situation with 2 minutes left because of the inability of the coaching staff to call the right plays in crucial situations. Should’ve been up by a score or two, instead of down one at the half.

This team and season is a death by a thousand cuts. Did anyone see the bench on Baker’s big run? They weren’t jumping up and down encouraging the team but rather, there they stood like they were watching a parade. No leadership players are on this roster. This team has no identity other than their mediocrity. Glazers have never hired a coach with full control and you wonder if this is the time to do it. If the coach you want believes in the roster Licht stays but if they don’t believe in the roster they’re not taking the job or Licht isn’t the GM. Keep him around for something else. I heard Bowles say he lets Licht take care of finding players while he coaches. So this is either a roster issue or coaching issue or both but it can’t be neither. Because if it’s neither, they both may be gone.
