Todd Bowles: Jalen McMillan Will Get On Practice Field This Week; Mike Evans “Possibility,” Too

December 1st, 2025

Good news.

Todd Bowles confirmed Ian Rapoport’s report yesterday that Jalen McMillan will get on the practice fields behind One Buc Palace this week.

However, his return to the active roster is still murky. What the Bucs want to do is get McMillan moving on a practice field and see how strong his neck is and what he’s able to manage.

“He’s been running,” Bowles said today of McMillan. “It’s just a matter of him putting on the helmet and seeing where he has strength with his neck.

“He’ll start doing more this week, and we’ll see exactly what, whether it’s individual or whether certain [other drills] this week as well. But he will start moving around.”

Bowles was then asked about Evans returning to practice this week. “That’s a possibility as well,” he said.

So the cavalry is coming. Just a matter of time.

At the end of the day defense needs to be better. If bowels stays he should give up play calling duty

  2. WillieG Says:

Sometimes the cavalry doesn’t arrive in time to save the day. After what I saw yesterday, my confidence in the Bucs is at a season low. I don’t think they will win the division. I think they get swept by the Panthers. I hate saying that, but that’s how I see it.

  3. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

I think as fans we got the injury information mixed up with J-Mac knowing he suffered a neck injury in the preseason, but getting the details on the injury later made it sound like it was still hindering him from playing when it was publicly reported.

From the sounds of what’s been reported since the window was reported to be opened back up, is the time spent in the brace was for the ligament damage than it was the actual fractures themselves. Better late than never again, hopefully JMac is feeling good and ready to make some things happen when he’s back on the field.

  4. Coconut Doughnut Says:

I was thinking Mike was close when we saw him with the cool shades on yesterday. He looks ready to go!

  5. James west Says:

    I agree with Willie g

  6. newbie Says:

Its great that we are getting back guys but the reality is our defense still stinks. Any update on Kancey?

  7. SC Bucs Fan Says:

Thinking all neck fractures are the same has led to a number of people making very stupid assumptions about this man’s future

  8. buc4evr Says:

    Any news on Kancy?

Yeah, it may be too late. Next couple of weeks will be critical, both from the play on the field and Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan’s progress.

“I think they get swept by the Panthers. I hate saying that, but that’s how I see it.”

Since its rarely ever spelled out for you wanna be fans

We don’t care how you see it. you always act like your opinion means the world so you have to apologize. You don’t because no one cares enough about your opinion beyond mild annoyance.

  11. Tucker Says:

Where is the Calvary for the defense. Can someone put a rush on it an apb put it on milk cartons send the smoke signals we need a hero for the defense.

  12. ocala Says:

Biggest problem for the Bucs is not talent. It is the head coach. Coach Bowles is a great guy, but his defensive scheme does not work anymore.

  13. Buc1987 Says:

I think the Panthers are going to sweep too.

  14. Smarter than Joe Says:

It doesn’t matter how good the offense is with this awful pass defense and Todd Blows in charge

  15. Aqualung Says:

Let’s face it. You could draft a team full of Hall of Famers in their prime. Put them out on the field for Todd Bowles. You wouldn’t see any different results. Evans, McMillan, Jerry Rice, Randy Moss. Wouldn’t matter.

Sapp? Todd would have him playing 3rd safety position.

Rice? Todd would have him in an empty zone covering nobody.

Deion Sanders? Todd would never let him play man to man, he’d have him in that no man’s empty zone between Rice and Sapp, covering nobody.

What a load of rubbish this Coich is.

  16. jcscycles Says:

Not seeing the Panther sweep. They are too inconsistant. At worst it will be a split.

I do see them losing to the Seahawks at Seattle. 12th man will be too much to overcome.

And they could lose to the Saints. Thay already have this year.

As more players return, Bucs will get better. We have a real chance at 12-5.

  17. Dom Says:

This offense can start looking really good if the cavalry comes back and CG doesn’t have any issues with his fibula. The Bucs could be getting healthy at the right time

  18. When is enough ENOUGH Says:

Regardless of us getting healthy on offense and we end up 12-5 at best, will still lose in the first round. Bowels gives us no chance. He is a Temu version of Tony Dungy.

  19. Zoocomics Says:

I didn’t watch the Panthers game, I’m really an outside observer with that team, but what exactly do they do well?

  20. Colonel Angus Says:

If we start scoring points, maybe Bowles stays aggressive in his play calling. I’’d rather we live and die by the blitz than die a slow death in a passive zone.

  21. Outrigger Says:

Don’t see either of them playing until the first game against the Panthers at the earliest

  22. Bucs Reality Check Says:

Bucs need a coaching overhaul. It’s just that simple.

Other teams have figured out how to beat Bowles’ core defensive scheme using screens and other passes quickly thrown underneath the 10 yard cushions the corners use.

Bowles is a nice guy but just doesn’t make for a great head coach. Bucs need to go in a new direction.

  23. Frank Pillow Says:

It will be a struggle to win 10 much less 11 or 12. The O is putrid and the D is worse. Only thing making ‘em look better is our kick-off team.

  24. Jeffrey Becker Says:

not sure the Saints want to win though

  25. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“Not seeing the Panther sweep. They are too inconsistant. At worst it will be a split.”

We don’t have to sweep the panthers, we win our next 3 games we clinch the south automatically. A sweep would be nice, but our ticket can be punched w/o it

  26. Juju Says:

Mike Evans comes back next week! 200 yards a game…the streak continues!!

  27. Aqualung Says:

You can’t win 3 or 5 in a row when you can’t stop the Saints. And Bowles won’t. The team will set a new standard for flat. They look like they’re playing for the season to be over. Watch Tyler Shough go all prime Aaron Rodgers on Todd. Bank on it. And with no intervention on the offense (and who really thinks we have a head coach who knows he needs to do that), the broken record will continue to play the bad song over and over and over.

  28. Joaquim Valente Says:

While the game yesterday was frustrating I had to keep in mind that the Cardinals have played very good teams closely all year. I have watched them go down to the wire while watching red zone this year. Sometimes we as fans have to step out of the vacuum and look at the big picture. This doesn’t negate the fact McColumm is a running garbage can, Bowles seems to be completely disconnected from the game at times and is scared to coach to win vs not to lose.

Also l, everyone is harping on Griz, this guy has had a makeshift oline the majority of the year, has had a rookie and a bunch of 4th, 5th, practice squads receivers, lost his starting RB. Anyone who has called plays especially for the first time and a slightly different playbook will tell you that is damn difficult. I am cautiously optimistic for the remainder of the year. Go Bucs

  29. Pewter Power Says:

Downside to this positive news the defense is healthy

  30. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Joaquin is 100% correct

Cardinals & Griz aren’t that bad.

Think JMac & Mike will be back for falcons game.

  31. Let em bake Says:

5 games. @ 850 yards. Doable for Mike.

  32. Buc king Says:

You just know when we get up by points Todd can predict the game no more on defense..he goes into a shell of a soft defense and coaches keep it infront of you ..the kill the clock style.. get the ball on offense run it twice and bake 3 n 5 over throws it back to soft defense zone that qb sit back there and chew up

  33. SMH Says:

I wouldn’t have minded a blow out win, but at the end of the day, the defense held them to 17 points and Godwin looked better this week than he did last week. Let’s hope he and Bucky can ramp up these next two weeks and get ready Carolina. For those that want to harp on the Cardinals missing a field goal as the only reason we won, by that logic, if Godwin hadn’t dropped a touchdown pass it wouldn’t have mattered.
