How bout that Buccaneers’ defense!
After being humiliated for three consecutive weeks, the defense found its footing today, with an assist to a weak Arizona offense that moved the ball 396 yards on Tampa Bay.
SirVocea Dennis had the big pass breakup on fourth down to end the game.
Still, to hold the NFL’s top tight end, Trey McBride, to 17 first-half yards, and sack Jacoby Brissett twice and force an interception before halftime was a huge step in the right direction.
Joe was fired up to see Baker Mayfield looking completely healthy and Chris Godwin looking truly dangerous for the first time this season! Mayfield ran well and would have had a much better day if he wasn’t victimized by two horrendous drops (Godwin and Emeka Egbuka).
A Tristan Wirfs touchdown? Awesome. Where was the celebration, big fella?
Bucky Irving’s return was huge. Irving entered the game with ZERO red zone rushing yards this season on 7 attempts. That changed big-time, capped by an 18-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to almost put the W away. Irving added 20 yards receiving.
A tight end not named Cade Otton even caught a pass for Tampa Bay. And a hat tip goes to Chase McLaughling for the 57-yard field goal.
Yeah, the Bucs defense was too soft too often, but 17 points allowed is 17 points. That’s enough to win in the NFL most of the time, and it sure was today.
The Bucs crawled their way to a 7-5 record, exactly where they were after 12 games of the Tom Brady experience in 2020. The Panthers, however, shocked the NFL by taking out the Rams in Charlotte. They’re on the Bucs’ heels in the NFC South at 7-6.

The team continues to play with little energy or passion. Sure there are little bursts of it here or there, but overall they continue to look flat most of the time. If this Cardinals team wasn’t so bad, we easily would have lost. Sure, it’s a win, and a win is a win. I get that. But the Panthers just beat the Rams, showing they can take on anyone. The Bucs look like they could lose to anyone. This team needs to find their fire. Todd Bowles needs to inspire.

Glad I was wrong about us losing today.
But there is basically zero chance that we beat the Panthers twice at the end of the season, and the Dolphins will be a tough game too, so we need to win out other than 1 loss to the Panthers and a possible loss to the Dolphins and we should make the playoffs with a 10-7 record hopefully.

So what Carolina beat the Rams maybe like I said last week going a tossed the coast is very difficult for teams to do. Bottom line is we are better than the Panthers and will beat them twice.

What defense? Who called them off? Draft Kings? I better NOT see any “moderation” on here or I am done. I notice a lot of old time GENUINE fans don’t appear now. Except for a few like DR. I will always appreciate my Bucs winning, but this one was something else. And Grizzard was just either muzzled or he hasn’t advanced that far on learning OC. I also circled WIN on this one. I notice the Panthers are right behind us. The Bucs are such a good team that they deserved to win better than this joke. Still 7-5 is what it is. Plus, I can’t pick up Bucs Radio anymore. The team has made sure of it. Or more like the Glazers for whatever reason. Oh well.

These kind of games happen all the time with the rams and panthers. Even though the Panthers are playing well, this was basically a trap game. The Panthers are no where as good as the rams. In the next three weeks we play these guys, hopefully we can get healthier and better in that time. Yes the Panthers have been on fire but I’m really concerned
about playing these guys because they beat the Rams. We’ll see how they play then. Anything can happen, in the NFL, but y’all know how we are lol.

Can’t lie… I’m done with coach Bowles. This defense is cooked man. I called 12-5 on the season and still standing on it. I admit it’s not much to stand on but Baker and the boys keeps us in games despite Grizzard. Trash playcalling. Damn.

I’ve said this months ago and I’m going to keep on saying it …..Josh Grizzard is the WORST offensive coordinator in the NFL!
Josh Grizzard is not an NFL caliber offensive coordinator…….he’s not creative, he calls improper plays for the situation and players, and lastly– he doesn’t correctly adjust to the defense on the field.
It’s 100% True the players are having to get creative and make plays on their own because the called players are just bad…..

For the ppl stating “a win is a win, be happy” I get it. When you’ve been thru a lost decade and a lot of losing with a few championships tossed in, sustained division crowns are nice.
But, we’re supposed to be over that part and into the next phase with this regime.
We are not there and in some of our opinions (certainly mine) there’s one reason why – in this era of football an aging defensive HC is not the way to get where we want to go. It’s nice that he’s built a nice culture, but some of us believe the young offensive play caller that was in house was the correct guy to keep.

The Rams blew us out of the water last week and just lost to Carolina.
Does that mean the Panthers are 40 points better than us?

I’m disappointed with the defense but I’m thrilled with the win and the returning players. I’m concerned with Egbuka’s drops but happy for Godwin and Irving. I still think Baker is playing hurt, but he played smart. I remember legendary coach Dungy taking us to the playoffs multiple seasons but not advancing far. Cost him his job. Can history repeat itself?

Down playing Carolina’s win isn’t wise. They beat a quality team and are peaking at the right time during the season. We struggled against a trash team at home with multiple starters returning to the offense. Both sides of the ball are too inconsistent for the Bucs. At some point ownership will have to decide if the objective is to contend or merely hang around. The team lacks focus, discipline and routinely comes out flat. Bowles in particular plays too often to “not lose” vs playing to win. It’s not going to suddenly change. This team might back their way into the playoffs but we’re not going to be a contender under Bowles.

Fools Gold is a great acknowledgment to the direction this team is heading! Why would you invest in a bad investment? It’s real, but it is only a false hope! See between the lines and understand. Its a win, but exposed a lot that is wrong still with this team, specifically, the defense. It blows and there is no cure for it other than to make changes with the scheme, which requires a change in thinking and approach with the coaching staff. The NFL is an adapt or die league. Eventually, the other teams figure you out. We saw it with Kiffin’s defense back in the 90s and through the 2000s. One day it was the best in the business, the next day it was yesterday’s lunch meat. Bowles needs to adapt or retire.
