New Bucs Injuries Emerge

November 26th, 2025

Baker Mayfield on Sunday night.

Good news, bad news and no news at One Buc Palace today.

First, the good news, Joe would wager Baker Mayfield will play Sunday against the Cardinals.

Mayfield’s non-throwing shoulder is injured but it’s not a major injury. Mayfield himself said today it likely will be a pain-tolerance thing. Does anyone in their right mind think Mayfield’s going to say, “It hurts too much. I’m out?” Joe doesn’t. Expect Mayfield to find a pain management regimen for Sunday and give it a go.

Mayfield did not practice today during the Bucs’ walk-through. If there was a real practice, edge rusher Anthony Nelson (ribs) wouldn’t have been able to go.

New on the injury report is Tristan Wirfs with a shoulder injury. That could explain his shaky snaps against the Rams. Wirfs was classified as “limited.” Bucky Irving was full-go. The complete Wednesday injury report is below. Yes, the Bucs have a full practice on Thanksgiving.

I really wish we had a better backup so he could take the week off. In no way do I believe Teddy can win a game.

  2. OneAndThree Says:

It’s too bad no other NFL team has injuries to use as a crutch for failure.

Surprised no one else has caught on to this approach in order to fool their fan base.

No matter who the QB is on Sunday, we will lose.

The defense is so horrific that Jacoby Manning will be dropping dimes all day.

    35-17 Cardinals. Fire Bowles now!!!

  3. BucsFan2001 Says:

Big contract Wirfs is a big disappointment

  4. Defense Rules Says:

Joe … ‘The good news, Joe would wager Baker Mayfield will play Sunday against the Cardinals.’

Sorry Joe, I don’t consider that to be good news at all. Baker is a wounded duck, and if he plays, every defender will try to take advantage & knock him out of the game. If Teddy can’t handle the backup role, then they need to ship him back to high school coaching & find someone who can.

  5. Defense Rules Says:

And just to clarify something, I would’ve preferred having Kyle Trask as our #2 over Teddy Bridgewater. There were plenty of backup QBs available earlier in the season, and Licht had to go cheap & find on who was coaching HS football. Of course, if someone offered me $1.3 mil to sit on the bench for a season, I’d take it too. Don’t blame Teddy one iota.

For once will one of you ultra negative “fans” put your money where your mouth is and put something at stake with your bets?

like if you are wrong we don’t see you posting for a month?

  7. ChiBuc Says:

Indeed, Teddy cashing in on the sideline. Teddy: Play? Who me? Uh, I’m just here to collect a check just like McCullen, AWJ, Reddick, etc. Isn’t that the Licht formula? Hope 10% of the cap can cover for the other 90% once they’re paid.

  8. ChiBuc Says:

I don’t wanna hear about your loser gambling issues. I have supported team in hostile territory, spending over $800 to witness losses in Detroit their last 2 visits inc. playoffs ,fly into Tampa 1-2x/yr to try to fill the stands while local whine about the heat, own Jerseys for every player I think worthy of Canton, and pay the freaking pay wall weekly to watch crap. Why don’t you shut up and show up before you blast your foolishness about placing bets

  9. Scotty Mack Says:

Bridgewater could definitely win a game and this game is one of them. Friggin’ Trevor Lawrence turned the ball over four times last week and the Jaguars still beat the Cardinals.

I said yesterday that Baker would play, but I don’t know if I want him to. Ideally, I would have him suit up and ready to play, but start Bridgewater and if the train goes off the rails early, put Baker in. If things go relatively well with Bridgewater, I’d let him keep playing unless the Bucs fall behind and need a Baker comeback.

  10. Tony Says:

If only Bowles would pop up on this list one day.

  11. Ryan Says:

Wirfs was on the injury report last week with the same shoulder injury.

Yes, and he was not good against the Rams.

I do put my money where my mouth is sir. Every game that is in prime time and/or versus a playoff caliber opponent, I bet big on the opponent.

That’s because I can see a mile ahead what is coming.

A huge embarrassing failure from a defensive guru who has the same prescription after every loss.

This is the same mid-season lull we get every single year, ever since the the Bruce Arians regime took over in 2019.

  15. #99 the big fella Says:

Teddy looked uninspired. He looked like he wanted to be back coaching high school football. It was a bad decision making him the backup.

  16. Lightningvinny1 Says:

Bucs 34 – Cards 20 ,,,, book it Danno ,,, Bucky is gonna run hog wild

  17. Mobucs Says:

Let Baker start, get us to a big lead, and then sit him down. Let Teddy work on his handoffs with our three-headed running game —the hot hand, of course–and run out the clock. Once Baker is out, though, he’s out for the game. He won’t be able to re-warmup.

  18. Outrigger Says:

Lots of needs going into next year:
Defense: Every single LB we have (ILB and OLB) needs to be replaced. DC needs to be replaced. Need more corners for depth and another interior DL since Cancey is always hurt.
Offense: OC and Otten needs to be replaced. Need to find a competent backup QB
Other then that we’re fine lol

  19. FortMyersDave Says:

This game will tell us if the team has quit on Bowles. If the Cards boat-race the D, we will have the answer. On offense, I expect Grizzard to show his inexperience again. Bucs are only favored by 3 and that is just because the Cards are 1-8 in their last 9 games. Hard to see the Bucs winning this one, perhaps the Cards lose it like they did when they let the Titans get their only win. No faith in Bowles or Grizzsard whatsoever, we have seen this movie before, reminds me of the D quitting on Chucky and Kiffen when Monte said he was leaving and also the last rah season when the team tuned out Rah. Bowles is a fossil, he has to go.

  20. Bucs Guy Says:

    FA – Get a proven DE/OLB and a LB
    – Who is the last DE the Bucs drafted w/10 sacks?
    – Marcus Jones in 2000 I think

Draft in order – DT, LB, G, CB, DE, RB, P

  21. Rod Munch Says:

That is the most healthy injury report I’ve seen all year.

Baker needs to be out there on Sunday, it’s a non-throwing arm, take the needle and play. The team MUST be 7-5 at the end of the day, if so, all the negativity will go away, and with the Saints up next, they could be 8-5, and everything feels different.

Lose this game, and the negativity is then justified as you’re no longer losing to better teams.

  22. BucDaddy Says:

I’ve had time to reflect on things and mature a bit. While, this team’s defense looks horrendous, especially the secondary and outside contain on runs, a lot of it is to blame on missing pieces not only the defense, but also on the offensive line.

I’m hopeful that if reports are accurate, and we do get Kancey, McMillan, Evans, and Reddick back healthy towards the end of the year, we could make a run at it. Heck, I forgot Mauch was out as well.

If you can’t get sacks, or at least pressure in a timely fashion, that creates a tall order for the corners, safeties, and linebackers on coverage. I believe that’s where Kancey and Reddick will benefit us big time. Also, Godwin just came back, as well as Irving, who is set to make his return this week. And then, if McMillan and Evans return, our receiver room will be absolutely stacked. That should free up guys, especially when defenses can’t figure out who to focus on.

Then we could make some REAL NOISE. GO BUCS!!!

  23. PriMech54 Says:

perfect PR/MVP talk opportunity boost here with how bad the last few weeks have been, to have Baker come in late and lead a comeback after Teddy B looks lethargic (probably)… LFG! Half a game’s rest! lol

  24. BucaneroJim Says:

Sit Baker, he has been hurt the last 4-5 games. Now more hurt, another shoulder. Bowels always wanted Baker and Teddy, well now you have them. Put Teddy out there, again. Succeed or fail, I rather have watched Trask step in.

  25. Saskbucs Says:

It would be great to get Dean, Brederson and Reddick back.

He’s probably not ready but get Wisdom at S or Izien and move Tykee into the nickel. Put Dean on Wilson and let Parrish dog Harrison Jr. Zyon to the bench!

Baker, I don’t know about. If Wirfs and Brederson are ready to go, prolly let him play but if it’s dicey go with Teddy. Run the offense through the 3 healthy RBs. Routes out of the backfield off play action and check downs… forget the screen crap that hasn’t worked.

  26. infomeplease Says:

Sunday has to go better than the LA trip. If not… there’s always next year! Maybe things improve by then…start with a new HC!!

  27. Optimistic Says:

When Baker first got hurt and went into the blues tent, what did Bridgewater do? He didn’t grab a ball and start warming up like any other backup would do. That tells me right there that Teddy doesn’t want to play. If Baker can’t play or gets injured again the Bucs are doomed.

  28. Kenton Smith Says:

Baker has hurt that shoulder before. AC’s can be a little tricky and I think he knows that. There’s the chance he needs another week. Bridgewater has won lots of NFL games. Bucky and Tucker and White running and catching the ball and playing some small ball and I think we can win without Baker. And it’d do the team and Baker alot of good.
