The Sad NFC South

November 26th, 2025

Here comes another hot QB.

When Bucs fans hear the hollering shows or reach national media outlets mock the NFC South, well, they should. You may agree after reading the following.

After this past weekend’s games, there is but one division in all of the NFL where every team has a negative point differential. You guessed it, welcome to the NFC South.

The Bucs (for the time being) lead the NFC South. The way the Bucs are playing defense and with Baker Mayfield being hurt, Joe wonders if that distinction ends Sunday? Anyway, the Bucs, after losing three straight, now have a point differential of -25. That’s the best in the division.

The rest: Dixie Chicks -30, Stinking Panthers -53, slimy Saints -109.

This is a bad division, folks. And the Bucs, the way they played Sunday in Los Angeles, is currently a very bad team.

And here comes Jacoby Brissett of the Cardinals who has thrown for a total of 1,027 yards in his last three games combined.

This Cards game is NOT a gimme. We could very well finish at 9-8 the way we’re playing. I’d take the bet against all these people acting like we’re gonna finish 11-6. Lose to the Cards, drop one to Carolina, Dolphins had enough to beat the Bills (before they mollywhopped us) and played the Pats tight… I can only hope that kind of record and a first round drubbing would be enough for us to cast the bowles anchor off our necks.

  2. purplebeard Says:

Well, according to Mr. Bowles, the coaches need to coach better and the players need to play better. So, IMHO, the team will pivot on a dime from his analysis and become the Superbowl team we all expected it to be….
    Hahahahahaha!!

  3. dbbuc711 Says:

Don’t think they win the division or make the playoffs.

  4. bob in valrico Says:

I watched the cardinal game last week. They were competitive and Bucs better be ready. Our high priced corner needs to step up or be benched until he gets his head
out and plays up to expectations. Watched one play where Diaby was at least as close to receiver as McCullum was. How and why does that happen?

  5. Permanently Moderated Says:

It’s a disgrace and the bigger disgrace is nothing will change.

  6. bob in valrico Says:

^^^Above play was near the endzone^^^.

  7. BucsNoles Says:

Relieve Bowles of HC duties – he stays as DC (maybe he can do a better job just taking care of the defense (?), Hire Jon Gruden as HC, he can light a fire under Griz/Players.

  8. heyjude Says:

It’s definitely not a “gimme” this Sunday. Never know which way the refs will lean, injuries, preparedness, mental thinking, and so much more.

The NFL standings were riveting seeing all that red, mostly in the NFC South. Bucs need to win this Sunday. Go Bucs!

  9. Lt. Dan Says:

All is not lost Bucs fans. Take heart. I just read an enlightening article that gave me great hope. Coach Bowles has a plan to fix his defense. He said, “we’ve got to coach it better, and they’ve got to play it better. “

  10. BucU Says:

This team has absolutely destroyed any expectations I had about what could be this season. The players have absolutely quit on Bowles. The offense gets a pass from me with WR1/WR2/WR3/RB1 out for months. But the defense has played like THEY’RE the ones with injuries all over the place. Todd Bowles is an utter failure as HC of this team. I’m tired of his excuses and lousy schemes that the rest of the NFL has caught on to for about 3 or 4 yrs now. I EXPECT this lousy team to lose Sunday. No reason whatsoever to think otherwise.

  11. BPBucsfan Says:

I agree with BucU. Bowles is still living off the “holding Mahomes to 9 points in the Super Bowl “. Great accomplishment, no doubt. That was ions ago, and other teams have figured out the “defensive guru”. Also had better players at that point with Suh, JPP, Barrett. Now that lies squarely with Licht, we’re to worried about saving all those draft picks like Bowles would hoard those timeouts. Having all those picks to draft next JTS, or Chris Braswell, or Kyle Trask. We could’ve picked up a potential replacement for Reddick for a 3rd round pick by getting Jalen Phillips from the Dolphins. If he would happen to leave in FA, next year, we would’ve mostly likely got that 3rd round back as a comp pick. Even using the receivers group as example, Brandin Cooks was released last week, with our group still uncertain because of injuries, did we sign him when he cleared waivers? Nope. Didn’t even require a draft picks, can’t count on Evans or McMillan to be back. Shepard has been banged up too. Buffalo needed a receiver, so guess what? They signed him yesterday.

  12. jimmy Says:

The coaches got a few nicks while communicating the fundamentals. The playbook is a bit garbled, but the bucs Yale Powered Offense will soon come together with the other three phases to make greatness for the republic of bucizstan.

The marketing team will infect blogs and spew hopium non stop to ensure maximum fools are separated from their hard earned dollars on merch and tix.

it’s just around the corner. ….another NFC South Championship…… can you smell it?

  13. Bucsalltheway Says:

Lian Coen aka El serpente beat em last week so we better or the glazers will have a decision to make at the end of the year

  14. Hawk Says:

As I said in an earlier article, the winner of the NFC South is nothing more than ‘The Cream of the Crap”.
You have to wonder if the Bucs are playing ‘down’ to the level of their division rivals, or are the other teams playing ‘up’ to the Buc’s level.

  15. Winny Testaverde Says:

The Bucs have been the tallest midget in the NFCircus South pretty much since the Bowles Era began. Falcons have been cursed since blowing a 25 point 2nd half lead in the Super Bowl. Panthers have been a laughing stock since Jerry Richardson was ousted for a nerd hedge fund fella and The Taints post Drew Brees have been the sewage in Sewer City, LA.

It’s literally going to be a pillow fight to the finish. I expect the 4 remaining games against divisional opponents to be difficult. Some team may win it with a 7-10 record.

  16. Jeffrey Becker Says:

at least we’re only bad when decimated 🙂 we’ll never be great with Bowles though

  17. stucbuc Says:

GM and leadership failure. I’ll keep saying it. Jason licht is a cool dude…..he’s failed on multiple fronts this season.

Even Robert Kraft can fire a bad coach after one season and get the right one. Come one glazers. Chucky is out there, grab him before it too late.

  18. Jeffrey Becker Says:

Brissett such an upgrade over Kyler. The Jaguars’ pass rush soundly outplayed the Cardinals’ offensive line but Brissett managed pressure while throwing on the run. He missed a few plays after taking a hard hit from Devin Lloyd in the third quarter, but was returned and threw another TD. He just missed two other TD throws on the run during fourth or fifth drive. Brissett is expected by every pundit to light up the Bucs so we’re gonna need to push the game over and score like 30-plus points. Lets hope the game plan, if we even have one offensively, matches reality. We are gonna get lit up, so we gotta light them up. Break out all the stops. Nothing vanilla. Show the Cardinals things they haven’t seen from us. Make fooling them the number one priority. Or just start Bridgewater, that could work too by muddying the waters. If we try to do the same thing we always do in hopes of doing it better, we will fail because we don’t have the horses and time is running out.

  19. 813bucboi Says:

thats why its so frustrating that we cant sweep the division…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  20. Zoocomics Says:

To be clear, the way this team has played ALL season, not one game on the schedule is a gimme. Every team has played us hard, even against the Saints on the 1-yard line, it took as 8 times to finally punch it in? Yes, probably the most comfortable game to watch this season, and yet our offense didn’t do anything.

This team cannot rely on Licht’s ability to draft OLB/DEs. If that’s the ONLY plan next season, we’re going to see the same damn product we’ve seen this year, with hopes we aren’t so banged up. Licht doesn’t just need 1 but at least 2 solid rotational DE free agents. They don’t have to be Trey Hendrickson. They have to be better than Braswell and Nelson. There are more Yaya Diabys out there than you might think. I think I’m ok if we can land a couple of early ILBs.

  21. heyjude Says:

stucbuc – Nothing is going to happen until the end of the season, if it happens.

I am still thinking we can make it to the play-offs, especially since Bucky and Mike may be back. If Bowles is replaced, the entire coaching, training, medical, staff, and GM would need to be replaced too. All new and not Gruden either. A fresh start. Unsure where the Glazers are at with that. They would need to pay out some money. I think they can afford a major rebuild. Maybe lower tickets and other items at the stadium too.

  22. Pewter Power Says:

This is why Bucs keep winning the division. As bad as it is we keep winning it in the last week of the season and Licht thinks it’s ok to keep doing the same thing every year. What a sh!t show, a defensive coach with one of the worse defenses in the league and a GM who won’t give him veteran pass rush. Ours not all that easy to find gem edge rushers in the late rounds and they refuse to be players in free agency so we keep losing but they are so happy

  23. Les Says:

Light just missed on Brandon cooks! Did not even try as bad as we need experienced whiteouts. But the Buffalo Bills picked them up.
    Because they’re a good franchise.Unlike this s*** show

  24. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Panthers have not had their bye week. We’re actually an extra game ahead of them that won’t show until they do.

Also…Panthers will be lucky to win 2 more games. We could win 6 more games.

  25. Vegasbuc Says:

A team is a bunch of overpriced quitters. They do this every year mid season under Todd. Fire Todd

  26. Alstott40 Says:

But somehow Bowles winning this division, even with a losing record, is a great accomplishment according to this site, and keeps earning him more seasons as head coach.

  27. Jerseybuc Says:

Harrison. N McBride about to have career days

  28. MelvinJunior Says:

I agree, Lee. Cooks even at his age could not be any worse than what we already have. Ya don’t think HIS experience and route-running would not help!? Who cares either way… You’re giving up absolutely NOTHING to see!!!! It’s ridiculous not to at least ‘try’ everything you possibly can, at this point. I know Shep has this so-called “connection” with Good Ole Bake, but in what world has HE ever been a better’ WR than Brandin Cooks!? And, I have absolutely no clue for WHY they hardly play Miller at all!? He at least has some good size and decent hands. I don’t get-it!?

  29. FootBall1 Says:

Yes , I have to agree with many coments. The Cardinals with Brissett, will play the Bucs tough. This game is clearly no gimmie , especially the way this defense is playing. Yes right now I don’t see the Bucs winning the division and certainly not the playoffs.
With that said yes I see the team going 8-9, maybe 9-8. Don’t be surprized to see Atl make a push here. They play the Jets this week. Kirk Counsins loves playing a Todd Bowles defense so I don’t see a win against Atl, nor sweeping Car. Maybe we sweep the Saints and Miami is a toss up. Yes, do believe this season is over. Yes the season that could have been

  30. MelvinJunior Says:

This FO and Ownership group has totally WASTED this great unique opportunity, of being in a historically WEAK Division. While, the whole thing has been nothing hit smoke and mirrors… They have just completely BLOWN-IT. I’d been trying to tell everyone this forever, but they’re all such delusional liars, pathetic homers, and propaganda believers, who would just refuse to open their damn eyes for even one-second. And, I am so sick of hearing the FO whine and bellyache over the lack of ‘national’ attention, & etc. I mean, what the HELL do they EXPECT. This team and franchise is BORING, and everyone knows what and who THEY ARE. Lickt just sits back during draft after draft rarely making any moves, and just takes the best available “CHOIR BOY” who falls into his lap. NEVER BOLD or AGGRESSIVE. Zero Risk-Taking, EVER. Same mentality during free-agency, and with trades. They. Are. BORING. And are mostly irrelevant, in the grand scheme of things. THIS team has no personality, grit, or SWAGGER. They lack that EDGE. They are who they are. They are DEAD.

  31. Erickson Cobb Carrier Says:

People are mad but 6-5 is the best start and ONLY time after 11 games the team has a winning record in the Bowles/Baker era. I like Bowles as a person. I like Baker more as a person then I dislike him. He do think he faking it with this injury and my thoughts of him as a player are well documented. But he always plays, tries and when some guys would have retired, he didn’t. But that only goes so far and its old now. The FO/ ownership Stinks. They are going to wait for the bottom to fall out to make changes. That’s so old school and primitive. This team/HC/QB has reached its ceiling. Get a HC you think will be a upgrade. Is it a guarantee? No. Move up and select a young QB. Is it a 100% lock he will be better then Baker? No. But you have to TRY. That stadium is embarrassing at times, it looks like a road game. I can tell you KC,Baltimore and Philadelphia are glad they drafted QBs when they didn’t NEED them. This is the quagmire of being mediocre.

  32. Erik with Pilot and Driver™ Says:

At this point, I fully expect the Cards to beat our a$$ this Sunday.

  33. When is enough ENOUGH Says:

If only Bucs fans would take a page from the movie draft day and hang around Ray Jay with signs of fire Bowels. This guy couldn’t coach a PeeWee league. But the Glaziers now it and are to cheap to address it with a proven coach.

  35. Lightningvinny1 Says:

-700 to win division (probably better after Sun) so we will be the 4 seed playing at home against Seattle , SF,Chicago, Det or GB,,,, w Big Mike , JMac , Kancey , Bucky back,,, we win that game then as luck has it we play Phily on road winner plays Rams in NFC championship which obviously is where we (or Phily) bow out,,, Bowles remains the coach ,,,, most likely scenario

  36. MelvinJunior Says:

NOT going after a ‘top-tier’ head coach and NOT taking any BIG swings in Free Agency, nor the Draft, WHEN you are a 💯 GUARANTEED LOCK to receive the #4-SEED and a HOME-FIELD Playoffs Game… Is about as WEAK as you could ever possibly be. 2025, 2026 and maybe thru 2027, had to be, and should have been, OUR YEARS!!!! Just due to the current makeup of the Division alone, with having SUCH an easy clear path. A WASTED Opportunity! One, that doesn’t come around like this very often (for 5+YEARS running). They are absolutely, flat-out BLOWING-IT, by continuing to retain Bowles. They had their out… They HAD ‘their guy’ IN-HOUSE. But, they decided to play games… So, HE WALKED. I said THEN, that it could more than likely, end up being one of ‘those moves’ that can curse and cripple a franchise for many years to come. That it could be DEVASTATING. So, let’s hope not and that they can somehow, manage to fight the wrong… DAN. LANNING. LETS GO!!!!

  37. MelvinJunior Says:

    *right* the wrong… Dan Lanning.

  38. Bucs 95 Says:

Could say the same thing about the afc north , the ravens and steelers are both 6-5 similar too tampa and carolina

  39. LakelandSteve Says:

I hope the Bucs can somehow win this game. Currently Vegas has the Bucs as 3 point favorites. For their division title hopes and hopes to make the playoffs beating Arizona would go a long way towards the Bucs achieving that goal. If they lose then we may have a front row seat to watch the Bucs circling the drain.

  40. Bartow Buc Says:

This game belongs to our Buccaneers!! This is a home game with a home crowd on Bucs Turf !!
    Go Baker Mayfield and company!!

Go Bucs !! Beat the Cardinals!!
