Report: Bucky Irving Will Not Play Sunday

November 20th, 2025

Running back Bucky Irving will miss his seventh game of this season on Sunday night in Los Angeles.

That was the direct word from Bucs icon Rondé Barber this week. Keep in mind Barber works for the Bucs and just traveled with the team to Buffalo to call the game for the Buccaneers Radio Network.

Barber’s comments came on The Rondé Barber Show, a WFLA-TV streaming production.

The segment in which Barber dropped the news led off with Barber’s co-host, JB Biunno, asking Barber to share his inside knowledge on who is and isn’t playing for the Bucs on Sunday. “Bucky is not going to be back on Sunday night football,” Barber said.

Apparently, Irving’s ailing shoulder is not ready to take a hit.

  1. Guadalajara Mexico Fan Says:

Why to keep on this crap?
If Irving needs surgery, do it now. Then Bucs will have their Best Running Back ready for the next season.
Bucs are covered with very good RB behind Inving. So this season is covered, But Next one??

  2. Godlovesbucs Says:

This season injuries have been managed so poorly, I think they need to look at the medical organization and revamp it.
    1. Wifs getting surgery late
    2. Godwin coming back and then getting re-injured
    3. Bucky missing 7 games and not going on IR.

All of these are major issues and show incompetence on someone’s part.

  3. Bosch Says:

The management of this organization is woefully incompetent. But let’s hope he is ready for the Cardinals. Bucs will lose by multiple score to the Rams with or without Bucky.

  4. Gipper Says:

Shoulders are the trickiest. Many moving parts and directions. If injury is to rotator cuff, he won’t be ready until training camp next year.

  5. zzbucs Says:

    @Godlovesbucs

Agree on point 1 and 3, not sure what’s the responsibility on number 2.

Not easy to handle and entire season when you get this king of injuries on key players, and gets worst, when they are on the same position.

On Bowles I trusted before and trust now

  6. Rover Says:

Ridiculous. Infuriating. Just a few words to describe how pathetic the handling of this has been. I watched this kid jersey swap after the Eagles game in seemingly full health. Well that was 2 months ago. Just unfair. Throw him in the infirmary with 13, 94, 69, amd 41. You better believe the Rams will embarrass us Sunday night for the whole world to see. I am a pissed Bucs fan. Enjoy your day.

  7. BigBoiBuc Says:

Joe- report what you know and if you don’t know, that’s not a good sign either.

  8. Deeboooo Says:

How can you all call it mos management out of one side of your mouth and complain that the Bucs don’t give out injury info out the other side of your mouth mouth??? Makes no sense, how do you know it’s mos management if you don’t know what’s going on doctor?? lol

Smart play. Save him for when games really matter. Whether it is this season or the next

  9. Josh Says:

When I was a child I looked the other way as I didn’t understand but this Medical staff is pathetic… PERIOD!! If hes that hurt use the IR and if hes done and needs surgery as someone already pointed out get it DONE YESTERDAY!! Seriously the Medical staff and Toilet Bowl need to flush themselves out of here!!

  10. Kenton Smith Says:

I’m all for letting Bucky rest. I’m having a blast watching Tucker for the time being. Tucker scored 3 touchdowns, I’m not thinking Bucky has done that yet. And White’s gonna be a rock. We’re good at RB.

  11. Leopold Stotch Says:

    Bro

  12. Beeej Says:

For the 18th time, you can only return EIGHT people per year from the IR list

  13. John Sinclear Says:

It’s amazing, the wasted talent we have here on this website! We have medical experts who have never gone to med school, and probably cannot change a bandage, and we have football experts who are so great the Glazer family cannot afford to hire them!

    What a waste!

  14. SteveK Says:

So Licht is going to put a Bucky on IR and use a roster spot for Brandon Cooks, or a youngry player trying to make special teams tackles?

I am befuddled by the lack of IR for Bucky and Godwin, just some dumb arse management of the roster and Licht deserves to be asked WTH os the matter with him not doing this, not making trades, etc?

  15. SteveK Says:

    John Sinclear,

It’s amazing that we have a GM and HC who refuse to use the roster rules to their advantage. If a player is going to miss 4+ games, strategically they should be placed on the IR and allow for another roster spot/practice squad spot.

May I ask you what is the competing point to just sitting on this and doing nothing? You don’t need a license to practice medicine to see that the lack of roster moving is stupid AF.

Please tell me why they would do this? And, if you deflect with “mud medical
    License” then shame on you.

  16. SteveK Says:

    Attempting anything, would be better.

    Was LaGarrette Blount picked up
On waivers from the Titans? Did he not rush for 1k yards in 2010? Come on, don’t put on blinders and support the inaction of our GM and HC to do nothing but let guys rot, injured on the roster when there is a space for them on IR and they can come back.

Are Licht and Bowles still playing with the old IR rules, for chrissakes?

  17. Whatevs Says:

Shocked. I thought he had a three week injury?

Must have had a relapse like the rest of the Bucs. Glazers must of found this medical team at the bargain bin.

  18. 813BUCBOI Says:

BUCS need to put Bucky, Chris and Mike on the shelf until next year…

If Kancey can return, play him on the edge at DE…dont put him back inside

    GO BUCS!!!!

  19. Bucs4Ever Says:

Licht isn’t a Greta GM. Brady won that Super Bowl.

    Licht was a passenger

  20. Adam's Angry Says:

I’ve never seen a player out for HALF THE SEASON with an injury we never saw happen.

  21. Rmbuc585 Says:

    Call me a downer but…
    Pass rush malpractice
    Roster spots malpractice
    Db rotation malpractice….
Don’t just use injuries as an excuse. Get to 7-4 and we will be ok!!! Go Bucs

  22. John Says:

I wonder if his heart is still in the game. Remember Bucky posted that “odd” message shortly after he was injured. Is he still into football? Who knows…..

  23. johnnythemoon Says:

You can only bring 8 players back from IR and 2 for playoffs ..They used one for Luke ..so they prn thought there was a chance for Bucky and Irvin..You still have Evans Mcmill and Kancey and you can not bring all 3 back after playoffs start

  24. SlyPirate Says:

My hope when he does return …

    Tucker – RB1
    Bucky – RB2

Bucky is little. His body won’t hold up in the NFL. Use him less and prolong his career.

  25. Mike Johnson Says:

Our Bucs were not going to beat the Rams anyway. No matter if we had Bucky or not. 6-5 here we come with blazing speed.

  26. BucU Says:

It’s a Bucs life man. That sums it up. If it can go wrong it will go wrong with this team. We have a laughingstock coaching staff, a team full of brittle, weak minded players and a front office that i THOUGHT was top notch. As we sit here now no portion of the organization is top notch. Just wait until LA dismantles us on both sides of the ball. I’ll tell ya Todd Bowles vs Sean McVay is not a fair fight. The Buccaneers are on life support. Just a matter of when the fans pull the plug on the season.

  27. Fire Bowles Says:

uh not a true report he is trending towards playing

  28. Rod Munch Says:

Whatever, Bucs are winning this game anyways. I’m OK with sitting everyone and getting ready for the stretch run.

At the same time, fire every single person in the medical department. To miss on the return window this huge, with Godwin and Bucky, those people should lose their jobs.

  29. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

No excuse to have these guys on the active roster when they are missing 7 games or more. Silly. Management of this team is often incompetent.

  30. BucsFan81 Says:

It’s been medical malpractice for awhile with this team. Nothing new really. Look how they handled all the hamstring injuries last season. Now the Bucky and Godwin situation. This team can’t get out of its own way.

  31. Pewter Power Says:

Bucky is a small guy and everyone talked about him and injured when he first got here but he was so dynamic I guess we forgot. I wonder how many seasons he will play all 17 games 🤔

  32. Rod Munch Says:

Whatever, Bucs are winning this game anyways.

    ——–

    *NOT

    are not winning…

Wow, I hope that slip was some sort of fortune teller power – although what I think it actually is, is just a dying keyboard that seems to miss like 1/6th of what I type.

  33. SteveK Says:

    Rod,

    Let’s go Team Positivity! 😎😂

  34. darengibo Says:

They should just shut him down for the year. if surgery needed, do it. Roll with Tucker and White.

  35. Colonel Angus Says:

Running the ball hasn’t been the issue lately. Give him another week to rest and see if he’s ready for the final 6 games.

  36. Bucsfan09 Says:

This is the only place reporting this. Lets hold off on the speculation

  37. bucs1287 Says:

@Joe – Listen to what Florio said on his week 12 picks podcast with Chris Simms today. He insinuates that Bucky is being held out for something that isn’t injury related based on what he is hearing but he can’t share it on air.
As Vince Lombardi famously would say – what the hell is going on out there?!?!

  38. When is enough ENOUGH Says:

And to think what we could have done with that 66 MIL that was given to Godwin this last offseason. But no this organization is about a charity case. Feel good story and making sure we are on top of DEI coaching hires. NOT focus on what is most important the fans!

  39. OneAndThree Says:

Running the ball is not our issue. We have two capable backs behind Irving.

The passing play calls are atrocious. Throw beyond the line of scrimmage or beyond the first down marker for God’s sake.

Special Teams belongs on the short bus. Worst in the NFL.

The defense is like a busted old Cadillac with no tires and bent rims.

Coaching is our biggest issue. Fire Bowles yesterday!

  40. Jason Says:

I went to the Buffalo game. While there, I struck up a conversation with a player’s family member who told me the Bucky is not hurt. He’s have some personal issues which the Bucs are trying to insulate the public from. I won’t share the stories I heard because its gossip. But I wouldn’t be surprised if the Bucs invest in another RB high in the draft.

  41. BucU Says:

“”For the 18th time, you can only return EIGHT people per year from the IR list””

As of November 20, 2025, one player, tackle Luke Goedeke, has returned from injured reserve (IR) for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the 2025 season.

  42. ChiBuc Says:

JL must be writing up Bucky’s extension right now. He loves paying top dollar for his hand picked bruised fruit. Ironmen, like Suh, need not apply unless a coach who values football players (BA) over gym rats with good character (JL)

  43. ChiBuc Says:

although what I think it actually is, is just a dying keyboard that seems to miss like 1/6th of what I type.

Gag. Really? Your “keyboard” made the mistake of missing an entire word. The righteous can never be wrong or make a mistake. We are so lucky to have you mansplaining the minutia of your mind

  44. pelbuc Says:

If true, it’s very frustrating. Bucky is a receiving threat as well and we really need receivers right now. He’s starting to become the next Kancey.

  45. gotbbucs Says:

I think we can all see how this RB career is going to play out. Nice player, but bell cow ball carrier he is not.

  46. #1bucsfan Says:

I love Bucky and he is so dangerous but man I don’t think he’s built to be a bell cow. Hard not to over use your best RB but they take a beating as is and he’s prob not going to last to long in the nfl

  47. Mike Johnson Says:

We all Love BUCKY. But he’s not gonna be an every down back in the NFL. Not happenning. Stop giving us weekly hope and shut him down for the year if thats whats needed. We don’t need him against the Rams because that game is already lost. Thats right fellow Buc Fans, I said it. Sit back come Sunday and watch what a real Pass Rush is suppose to look like.

  48. Carlitin1988 Says:

This is fine. If he cant play this week hes getting closer to returning soon. Tucker and White will continue to carry the load and Bucky will be back with fresh legs for the end of the season
