Sacking Josh Allen

November 16th, 2025

Hard to sack.

It would sure be nice if the Bucs could get after Josh Allen today with an edge rush. And no, Joe isn’t talking about pressures. Pppfffttt!

It would also be nice if Joe won the Powerball last night. The odds are similar.

Believe it or not, Allen, the Bills’ star signal-caller, is one of the most sacked quarterbacks in the league — 10th-most this year with 20.

But hoping the Bucs can get Allen on the ground from an edge rush seems wishful. Last week, Drake Maye of New England came to town. He entered the game sacked 35 times, second-most in the league.

Only Elijah Roberts, a Bucs rookie tackle, got Maye on the ground. #Sad.

So Joe last week spoke with YaYa Diaby. Joe likes YaYa and Joe believes if he played for a coach who valued edge rushers, YaYa would be a stud. So Joe asked him if there was any trick to getting Allen on the ground.

“There’s really not,” YaYa said. “No trick, really.”

Allen is one of the toughest quarterbacks to sack because he is so big. And YaYa told Joe you have to be careful not to try to do too much physically with Allen because the zebras are so protective of star quarterbacks.

So, YaYa said, you have to play within yourself.

And Todd Bowles mentioned last week, Allen is the kind of quarterback that when you think you’ve got him, he can still get off a pass.

“He’s so hard to bring down that you could be all over him and he’d still get away, find a way to get a pass off,” YaYa said. “I’ve got to give it to him, give him his respect.

“Man, he’s a really, really great guy and really good player, that’s gonna be a really hard task for us.”

YaYa said he agreed with Bowles, who told his defenders this week that they have to worry about themselves and their jobs first and not be obsessed about Allen. If the Bucs aren’t doing their jobs, they cannot beat Buffalo.

“We have to focus on us,” YaYa said. “We have to focus on the game.”

Unfortunately, the game will very likely go through Allen’s hands in some way or other.

This is not happening, didn’t even the article yet. Remember Monte would spy the Qb. Watch tomorrow. He is the one that will win the game.🤙🏾

We have ZERO pass rush when we rush 4. ZEEEEEERO. Nada.
We have not since the JPP and Barrett days.
Watching this Defense not able to even touch the QB while tehy rush 4 is beyond frustrating at this point.

    Go Bucs

Defense must come in on top. They cannot allow Josh to throw the ball in and out of pocket. The Bills want this win badly. Their head coach needs this win. Weather shouldn’t be a problem. Reminder from the latest Ira podcast, “Bucs play better on the road” and hoping to see that today. Former Largo High Leonard Johnson is a coaching assistant for the Bills since 2020. He played in the NFL including the Bucs, defensive back. Maybe he should be a coaching assistant for the Bucs, his home town. Today’s win is so important. Go Bucs!

Do you think Sapp would be thinking or talking like YaYa? Sapp would try to kill the guy, no matter what the refs did. This defense is softer than Charmin TP. Todd is thicker than a brick and his defense is slow, soft and stupid.

ZERO sacks on Allen today. He will, however, run for at least three crucial first downs on 3rd down burning the Bucs out-of-position D and setting up several scores.

Kayla. We’re going to have to play as a team. Stop kicking our defense. From here on out doesn’t matter if it’s 40-30 or 7-3. It’s about winning. Our defense shouldn’t have gotten back on that field last week. They had the Pats held to 21 if Otten can catch a pass or White can get a read. Should have been running on 3rd and three anyway. Our offense got used to playing mistake free and winning. Baker had to be thinking we’ve got them right where we want them. No wonder he is pi$$ed. Pi$$ed Baker. Underdog. Maybe entire team with a chippy attitude? This game could be high scoring or it could be low scoring. But it’s gonna be close. And I’m sure I’ll be proud of how hard we compete. Have been for 3 years now. Go Buccaneers! How cool is it to have a Pirate Ship and a bunch of rogue pirates being the team mascot?

Why is Joe so against pressures ? I don’t think any reasonable fan values them more than sacks. Pressures are just an indication of future success. If a guy has a few sacks and very little pressures, he’s generally not gonna keep up with the sacks. Which is what happened to YaYa his rookie year till now.

I agree with Ira, it’s going to be a long day for the visiting team. Look for Cook and Allen to exploit the middle of the field . If Dennis was on top of his game this could be a big game for him. However, I think we will be seeing clips of Allen and Cook after making big plays in the middle. The sad part next week likely to be worse. Yes after watching last week against the Patroits, I have little faith. Yes I agree with Dungy last week was a wake up call. This Bucs team has caved in mentally and too many players who matter are out.

    Sack the Ball !!!

  10. BucsfaninOregon Says:

I’ve said all year. The Bucs are not favorite to win against against team that can effectively pass the ball. The fact that we gave up big runs last week was an anomaly. This defense needs to be blown up along with the coach.

  11. SBucs Says:

No pressures, no sacks, plenty of excuses.

  12. R. Ritter Says:

That’s a pipe dream with this line. Vea is so slow and weak he doesn’t really draw the attention from the edge anymore. Way overrated
