“Buffalo Defense Decimated”

November 12th, 2025

No, the Bucs are not the only team with injuries to key players.

Remember, the Patriots exposed the Bucs defense on Sunday without their top deep-threat receiver, Kayshon Boutte, and their most-used running back, Rhamondre Stevenson.

The Bucs’ next opponent has injuries, too. As the headline said yesterday in the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle: Buffalo Defense Decimated And Offense Takes A Hit.

The Buffalo Bills have only have three defensive starters who haven’t missed a game due to injury this year. They are also down to three healthy defensive ends on their roster.

Starting cornerbacks Christian Benford and Taron Johnson and rotational defensive end A.J. Epenesa did not play in the Bills’ 30-13 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Rookie defensive end Landon Jackson played two snaps before suffering a knee injury and watching the second half on crutches.

And the big loss for Buffalo was tight end Dalton Kincaid blowing a hamstring Sunday in Miami. He’s Buffalo’s version of Cade Otton, except he’s got 4 touchdowns and is more of a downfield threat.

It’s that time of year in the NFL. Nearly every team has a pile of injuries. No excuses.

Detroit was missing their entire secondary and we all know what happened. Just sayin.

  2. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

For whatever it’s worth, we played the Lions when they had a back-up at every position in their secondary and only scored 9 points.

  3. capnhowdy Says:

Dueling injury reports for the dueling teams on the field Sunday. This game will become the battle of the walking wounded. Hopefully the field isn’t iced over in spots that instigates more injuries for either team.

  4. SB~LV Says:

    Bucky practiced today

  5. 813bucboi Says:

unfortunately it wont matter….BUF could have their 3rd string DL starting and Grizz will still want to “attack” the secondary lol…

    RUN THE GRIZZ!!!!

with the weather and knowing BUF is piss poor in run defense we should have at least 15 rushes per half…

Grizz will have baker throwing 40times in the rain and snow lol

    GO BUCS!!!!

  6. Scott Says:

Crazy how Treveon Henderson stinks all year and has the best game of his career against us.

  7. 813bucboi Says:

    RUN THE BALL GRIZZ

no reason why we shouldnt have 30+ rushes and 120+ rushing yards vs BUF!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  8. Smarter than Joe Says:

Bills receivers are going to have a field day when the Bucs DB’s are 15-20 yards away

Even BUST Keon Coleman will have a great day while our DB’s are in Canada protecting the end zone

  9. Conte Piscatelli Says:

You know who else defense was decimated with injuries? Detroit, didn’t have a single starter in their secondary and our 1st year Oc couldn’t figure out how to exploit it.

  10. drdneast Says:

It doesn’t matter, are novice OC doesn’t know how to exploit another team’s weakness like Joh McDaniel of the Pats does. Lost ball in the high weeds trying to figure out what screen pass he will run next.

  11. heyjude Says:

Thank you for the Democrat and Chronicle article.

Hamstrings seem to be a thing again, both sides now. Seems like McDermott is blaming injuries on their losing streak. Their loss to the Dolphins really stung.

  12. bucnjim Says:

I seem to remember something similar posted about the Lions game. We scored 9 points! The Bucs better spend the week worrying about fixing themselves and not so much about who is injured for the Bills.

  13. Ben Says:

And so is the Bucs offense

  14. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Didn’t help in Detroit, def don’t think it’ll make a difference in Buffalo. Hell New England didn’t even have their DC, their ILB Coach is calling plays in his place and did enough to stymie Grizz, Bakers and our offense.

  15. pelbuc Says:

Yeah, we also heard how Detroit’s secondary was decimated. This team is not hungry.

  16. Saskbucs Says:

Scott… the Henderson thing is made even worse by the fact Vrabel hasn’t trusted him all year and he maybe isn’t even in the game for those long runs is Jennings doesn’t get hurt earlier in the game.

  17. Oscar Says:

According to NFL.com Bucky Irving returned to practice today?

  18. Jeff Says:

lol! So was Detroit. Folks, need to face the truth here. The Bucs are probably the 10th best team in the NFL. Bucs must upgrade their coaching or the Bucs will always be a bridesmaid.

  19. Jeff Says:

    Bills 38 The Clueless Todd’s 13.

  20. PSL Bob Says:

Are you saying, there’s a chance?

  21. DBS Says:

Going to be funny to see if they win this game the name changes. Also see how many go hide back under their rock until there is another loss. Also the comments will start with but they were desimated with injuries.

  22. Bucs4Ever Says:

    Tampa is +220 on Hardrock

Go for it. House it…if you have one.

  23. Bucs4Ever Says:

    ^^^^^^^

    extreme sarcasm

  24. infomeplease Says:

No excuses!! Next man up!!! If you can play at 85 to 100% then dress and play!! The team that wants the W more will win!! I sure pray that’s the Bucs! Get it done!!!!!!

  25. LawrenceDawsey Says:

This is a Tucker type of game. Hope he gets 23 touches

  26. SBucs Says:

Pissed Bills, Pissed Bucs, sounds to me like a Bills blowout at home. With additional injuries to Buc players and excuses to come.

  27. Christos Says:

Injuries on other teams most of the time mean nothing.
Just like stats of other teams. Drake Maye is one of the most sacked QBs in the league and our Defense could not even touch him.

  28. SlurpandMunchMyRod Says:

Certain talking heads are implying that the “sky is not falling“ based on the fact that the Buc’s 3 losses are to potential division champions. I don’t look at it that way. It is indicative of the fact that they are unable to achieve a “signature” win.

  29. Vegasbuc Says:

Still strong enough to beat the six and five bucs

  30. PriMech54 Says:

Sean Tucker should be in the top 10 for yards at this point, given all the injuries. No idea WTF this offense is doing.

  31. 813bucboi Says:

at 7:42 in the 1st quarter, Grizz had Tucker and White in the back field…

RW motioned to the left side and Tucker ran behind the RG for a gain of 12yards!!!

Grizz never ran that play or formation again…

    wake up Grizz!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  32. unbelievable Says:

^ YUP! I’ve been SCREAMING for us to run more 2 back sets all year.

    Grizz refuses.

But hey let’s throw some more passes behind the LOS with no one out front blocking. We love getting 2 yards on 3rd and 9!

As for Buffalo’s defense being decimated… we heard the same thing about Detroit and they stomped us into the ground.

  33. Saskbucs Says:

813Bucboi … you know what would probably work gangbusters off those 2 back sets? Play action! Maybe Otton leaks out the weak side. Just a thought.

I saw a graph today that shows the Bucs use motion but not much play action and that needs to change. Defenses are biting on the first read as much as ever.

This is a negative Grizz post but I will say this again… if you were a Todd defender last year because of D injuries… you better not be in here down on Grizz. Same deal, different side of ball.

  34. StucBuc Says:

    They’re just collecting a paycheck

  35. Defense Rules Says:

The Bills’ game won’t be about the Bills’ defense, and how well it can do against the Bucs’ offense. BOTH are badly beaten up and heaven only knows how well either will do.

No, next Sunday’s game will be about the Bills’ offense against the Bucs’ defense. IF our defense plays like it did against New England, the Bills #6 offense … with the league’s #1 rushing attack … will eat us alive. They’ll run the ball down our throats UNLESS we can figure out a way to hold them in check.

What’s absolutely killing our defense is explosive plays, both running AND passing. Bucs’ defense has surrendered 17 running plays this season that went for 10 yds or more. Not bad? Sorry, it’s horrendous. Those 17 plays accounted for opponents gaining 438 yds rushing & 4 TDs. Just for info, Bucs’ opponents have already run against us 218 times for 907 yds in 9 games (4.2 YPC average). So those 17 explosive plays (438 yds) represented almost 50% of the rushing yardage we’ve surrendered. Subtract those 17 plays out, and the Bucs’ defense is doing AWESOME … 201 runs on which they’ve allowed 469 yds for a 2.3 YPC average, with 5 TDs given up.

Surrendering explosive plays on Pass Defense is just about as bad. If you call a completed pass that gains 20 yds or more as an ‘explosive play’, Bucs have surrendered 27 catches meeting that criteria, for 862 total passing yds & 4 TDs.

Not bad? Actually it sucks. Bucs’ opponents have already passed against us 310 times with 204 complete for 2099 yds in 9 games (10.3 YPR average). So those 27 explosive plays (862 yds) represented over 40% of the passing yardage we’ve surrendered. Subtract those 27 plays out, and the Bucs’ defense is doing EXCEPTIONAL … 283 passes on which they’ve allowed 1237 yds for a 4.4 YPP average.

I keep telling myself ‘Don’t be fooled; this is a very good defense … 92% OF THE TIME’. But on 1 out of every 8 plays, it surrenders an explosive play, and craps the bed.

  38. ek Says:

So the Bills might be missing 3 starters (1 on offense) and a couple of rotational/backup guys? Not much of a story there..

Pats missing Stevenson helped them, let’s be honest. Henderson is a far, far better back. Boutte was the actual loss.

  39. Jeffrey Becker Says:

if Rhamondre started Bucs would have won. when i heard he wasn’t starting I knew it could spell doom for us. other guy SO much better.

  40. Les Says:

Let’s face it ,gizz is not Cohen. This guy is in over his head ! Offence looks enamic. !
