Todd Bowles Addresses Nov. 4 The Trade Deadline

October 27th, 2025

Bucs GM Jason Licht.

The Bucs have a mess of injuries and a real shot at the Super Bowl.

Should they sit on their hands and hope for healing, or should they go get a player or two?

Today, Todd Bowles sounded like a man eager for a new body — at the right price.

What Bowles and those above him on the Bucs’ food chain believe a smart price is, Joe has no idea.

“I think the discussion is more of how much do you have to give up to get somebody that you really want. That’ll be the discussions more or less going forward,” Bowles said. “We feel like guys, hopefully guys can come back. But at the same time, if there’s something out there that’s available, and depending on whether you gotta rob Peter to pay Paul, then we gotta weigh those options.”

Yeah, yeah, Joe knows the Bucs want to be responsible when it comes to chasing a talent that can help them win a Super Bowl. Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht is in charge of building a lasting contender, not gambling on long shots.

However, Joe knows the Bucs will be honoring the 25th anniversary of their first Super Bowl team. There was no event celebrating the 1999 team that lost in the NFC Championship game.

The NFL is an entertainment business and fans love and respect when their team plays to win. Joe hopes the Bucs don’t lose sight of that.

imo, jeffrey simmons would be great!!!!

    strengthen your strength!!!!

teams arent giving up an productive outside pass rusher for anything less than a 1st round pick plus some….

offer the titan a 6th round pick for JS98….if they bite great…if not screw em lol…

    6-2!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  2. Jw94buc Says:

813bucboi I like where your mind is at! You have the right idea for certain. In Licht we trust

  3. Rod Stewart Says:

You think the Titans would trade their captain that is 28 years old, in his prime and playing really well for a 6th round pick?

  4. Bartow Buc Says:

Are there any talented running backs available. It seems like teams in the past have taken advantage of backs who are available at the trade deadline. Teams like the eagles and the ravens.

    Go Bucs !!

  5. Geno711 Says:

Interestingly, some teams have given up 3rd round picks for guys that were just rest of the year rentals.

Then when the player signed in the following year, with a big contract — the team would get a compensatory 3rd round pick back.

To me — if there is that guy out there — Ah — Trey Hendrickson —

San Francisco has done this a couple of times in the past.

  6. Baking with Grizz Says:

You wont know unless you ask.
    In Licht We Trust!

  7. Baking with Grizz Says:

Running backs is not an issue. We need the Oline tweaked with additional creativity from Grizz.

Coaches should be chopping wood this week.

    Let’s Go!!!!

  8. ballwasher61 Says:

It takes 2 to tango so without a willing trade partner it’s a moot point. Curious to see what positions they might be looking at. Mid season trades can be a bit tricky especially with guys changing schemes quickly. Simmons wouldn’t be bad for the right price but don’t think Titans let him go. No on Hendrickson cause he’s hurt, Garrett and Baker don’t get along but who knows if they can bury the hatchet but that’s far too much money. Phillps from Miami is interesting, not Chubb, has shown nothing. And start Captain Nelson, he’s done more in 1 game than Reddick has done in 7. SVD coming along so it will be nice to see how he is at the end of the year. A lot to show apart from the injuries.

  9. Nano107 Says:

    Myles garett

  10. Smarter than Joe Says:

If you think Licht is going to make a move you have not been paying attention to this team.

Licht’s strategy is hope, he hopes injured players recover better than anyone else in history

    Licht loves the status quo

Licht loves his picks more than wins

  11. Gotti-Dog-05-20-84 Says:

Myles Garrett does not fit the Team Player requirement of the Bucs….he has proven many times that he is a Me Player.

  12. FootBall1 Says:

The keyword is what do you have to give up.
needs definately, O Line, sure seems the last 2 weeks have exposed a hugh need quickly, MLB, Yes Dennis is better, but will that continue, who backs him up, Receiver, yep, Godwin real iffy this season along with J Mac., Evans? Edge Rush, yes , yes and yes!!!. Nelson , defense great yesterday. Does Nelson accomplish that each week?, Running back I will say pass do to more urgent needs

  13. Stpetematt Says:

Miles Teller, 3x pro-bowl right guard for the Browns and excellent punishing run blocker would be a phenomenal addition.

  14. Pmike Says:

Don’t see the need on defense. D has been much upgraded since last season.

Very much see a need at O line and WR, possible RB if Bucky is not coming back this year 100%

  15. Buc1987 Says:

Gotti-Dog-05-20-84…he also plays for the Browns…so there’s that.

  16. PSL Bob Says:

Stpetematt, like your idea. After the last 2 weeks, it’s apparent that we need to strengthen up the middle of the o-line, particularly the right side.

  17. Jeff and Jack's grandpa Says:

    Simmons is fantasy land

  18. SlyPirate Says:

    NO TRADE!!!!

    1. The Bucs will win the NFCS in 2025
    2. A healthy Bucs team can make a run in 2025
    3. The Bucs have 7 glaring holes and 7 draft picks.
    4. Baker needs to be resigned. Bucs need their cap.

Trading for a player doesn’t guaranty success but it does guaranty a less promising future.

  19. First Last Says:

At this point, we aren’t getting edge rusher help. Grab someone from Jets/Dolphins/Titans, and then see if the Saints will deal Chris Olave.

  20. Pickgrin Says:

Licht has recently drafted talents like Goedeke, White, Mauch, Diaby, Smith, Jmac, Morrison and Parrish with Day 2 picks….

McCollum, Otten, Dennis, Irving, Walker, Roberts and Tez Johnson with day 3 selections….

All draft picks are valuable in the hands of our GM these days- so the value has to be strong in order to pull off a trade to rent an established player that could help us this year…..

Most likely the Bucs stand pat at the trade deadline is my guess.

Licht has done a good job at shoring up most of the depth issues this team had last year and the coaches are doing a good job of getting backups ready to play when they are called upon due to the multitude of injuries this team has experienced in 2025.

Kancey and Mauch are the only starters we have definitely lost for the year – and while the loss of those 2 is significant – the Bucs have still managed to get to 6-2 without them and many others. Sometime within the next 2>8 weeks Irving, Goedeke, Godwin, JMac and Evans will all be back on the field.

If most of the team (as is) gets and stays healthy come playoff time – I like the Bucs chances to make a legit run at the Super Bowl.

  21. Deuceswild78 Says:

The rams game will show us if we have a chance… we’ve Already shown we can run with the lions eagles and Seahawks

  22. Nicholas Carlson Says:

    Promising comments!

  23. Beeej Says:

We could use a good right guard, but any pic we spend on that will be gone at the end of the year because Mauch is coming back

  24. Frank Pillow Says:

Can’t go wrong with help at WR and the trenches. Nothing we’ve seen suggests 14 will be able to play at a high level this season- we just can’t bank on him. Plus, 2 can’t carry to load when he’s hurting too. Same can be said for 67. Mysterious slow healing foot injury. Look, I’m all for a splash at OLB or MLB, but I still think the need/value is over on O. Just look at how poorly that group has played over the past two weeks.

  25. Jeffrey Becker Says:

well Rams and Titans just set a/the market with a crazy cheap acquisition for Rams

  26. Carlitin1988 Says:

I think our biggest need on defense is either at pass rush help or LB. If Haggard gets healthy after the bye then i wouldnt trade for an OL since Mauch will be back next year and hopefully when Goedeke comes back he can masks some problems on the right side of the line. Goedeke plus either Haggard or Michael Jordan should be fine for the rest of the year

  27. Jeffrey Becker Says:

trade for a guard that can play either side, move brederson back to center, and try barton wherever he fits best? cheapest maybe. I don’t see Heck playing anywhere but where he is.

  28. Jake been there since the beginning Says:

DL OL if they are better than what we have especially Oline. Other than that if you think what we have anywhere near Luke or Cody on that side, Detroit just showed you the offensive line is a need. I would welcome any of those areas but the defense can keep us in the hunt if we can get Baker to put on his chef’s hat and fire up the ovens!! Let’s Go Bucs!!!! Arrrgggahaha.

  29. LVMYBUCS Says:

Wont matter what we do before the dead line because the refs will just find a way to cheat us out of that as well. Like moving the date and not telling us lol lol

  30. adam from ny Says:

because injury statuses are not clearly conveyed, you just don’t know what to do…but they know inside the wall of one buc…so they know what’s needed…

are jmac and chris done for the year…probably…then you need a receiver without question…

the eggman looks different of late with a clear cut role as #1, and with teams studying film and preparing for him…

meanwhile shepard and tez have performed a little above what you might expect – and teams can stop that too – if they clamp down…

so a receiver might be in order…

as well as many other positions too, with all the injuries…

nelly had a game for the ages yesterday – but by no means does that one game turn him into the next coming of simeon rice…we need edge help…

also OL, ILB, WATERBOY, and 1 crotchless underwear cheerleader

  31. TampaBayBucFan Says:

No way we should trade for anyone UNLESS…..Godwin, Irving are not coming back & if that were the case, they would be on IR.

Hang tight….we are 6-2 with the mash unit.

We should get to the playoffs and if we do Evans and Goedeke will be back & Godwin, Bucky & Jmac before that

The way Licht has been drafting, no way we should give up a pick for a rental.

  32. jimmy Says:

no help coming bet on it

  33. Rickrose Says:

Please trade for Myles Garrett. Send a 1 and Reddick and Braswell.

  34. Beeej Says:

Titans just traded away a corner, McCreary

  35. Aqualung Says:

The contributions of the 2003 Madden GMs above have Aqualung chortling. Jason’s got this. If he makes no moves (likely) it’s because the price/value ratio was out of whack for the considered need.

Jason’s done an amazing job digging out of the Brady hole while remaining competitive enough to “win” the NFC south. I’ll go with whatever Jason does 10 to the 100th power times before doing any of the amateur GM stuff typed above.

  36. Gipper Says:

Garrett is the link to the NFC Championship. Go get him. Some high priced talent next year won’t be back starting with Haason Reddick. Garrett is the Super Bowl link. Just do it.

  37. MikeBuc Says:

OL to me is most pressing. theres got to be some bodies out there better than we have as backups.

  38. Ben Says:

As much as edge is a huge need and should be the focus, I think DT and ILB could be a strong 2nd place. DT is a need next year anyway with Hall likely not resigning and Gaines getting older.

  39. Saskbucs Says:

    I agree with Pickgrin again.

  40. An Erection For Sacks Says:

Can y’all find the extra “ing”?

In an earlier era, I would have made a natural proofreader.

It’s not that I’m looking for these things, it’s that I can’t not see them. 🫤

  41. Ed Says:

WR and Oline no running game with no blocking and Mayfield is getting hit too much. Gotta protect gotta start beating the blitz with west coast offense that Coan and Rams run. Slants will do the trick if the slant is where the blitzes came from

  42. Stpetematt Says:

Gawd could you imagine having Simmons next to Vita Vea? Wow. Our interior pass rush would be insanity. Garrett too but that’s pie-in-the-sky.

  43. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I don’t know of anyone we can get who is a slam dunk (pass rushing). Our guys are getting better and better anyway. RB? Don’t need it.

OL? Maybe. We could use a guard.
WR? The young guys are getting better and better. And I doubt we will get better than they are in a trade.

No, what we need is health or more picks. I don’t see us making a trade to be honest.

  44. Chief Says:

Garrett disappears way too much. He has highlight plays for sure, but lots of non productive plays.
    Hendrickson gets hurt too much.

I’d still try to get Maxx Crosby. I’d also try and get Garrett Wilson from the Jets. Mike will never be the old Mike again. He’s a red zone target and not much else. Godwin didn’t look like himself, but it’s still early.

Crosby and Wilson would make an impact today.

  45. Obvious One Says:

    Joe,

You kinda squirreled it around there at the end and got off your point (I think).

I think your point is to chase talent if you “actually need” it. And it seems the majority wouldn’t mind seeing us GOING FOR IT, ESPECIALLY to chase the Lombardi, because WE NEED the help… Badly in some areas.

Or we WON’T BE able to get to the Big Show and WIN IT, without more talent being injected. We Have LOST So Many… KEY PLAYERS. And without the combo or some semblance of it, it’ll be an inspiring run but we won’t make it “as is”. It takes Far More than “HOPE” that one or two of our guys come back. Being realistic, we may lose more. Any further behind this 8 ball and we may not have enough talent left to make the play offs… There are STILL 9 games to go.

Also, we might lose more games than we’re thinking possible “at THIS point in time”. That may well change to with any further loses..

So Yeah! I would say to be on the safe side it SURE COULDN’T HURT to inject some DESPERATELY NEEDED TALENT or we might for instance lose Baker Mayfield… Then What???

  46. Obvious One Says:

I Really don’t want Tracy Olman as my QB….

  47. Obvious One Says:

I keep Reading about NEXT YEAR! What the actual FXXK are you people talking about? MOST OF US ARE TALKING ABOUT “THIS YEAR”… FOR A VERY GOOD REASON!

O somebody or another “SHOULD ” be back next year so we should not worry about the QB getting PUMMELED OR OPENING HOLES FOR OUR RUNNING BACKS FOR THE REST OF THIS YEAR??????????

Don’t tell me. Let me guess. You “SMOKE A LOT” OF HOPEIUM! Now don’t You…
