Antoine Winfield Was Robbed

October 26th, 2025

Antoine Winfield was on his way to a scoop-and-score Sunday but the zebras called his return back, claiming an inadvertent whistle.

Man, the NFL zebras are getting shady.

Why does it seem like every decent play the Bucs make the past couple of games, someone buzzes the refs from Control Central in New York and the play is altered or reversed?

It’s almost like the NFL is in bed with a few sportsbooks.

Bucs safety Antoine Winfield sure seemed as if he got hosed today. And as Gunnery Sgt. Hartman in “Full Metal Jacket” famously said, the refs didn’t have common courtesy to give him a reach-around.

Winfield had two scoop-and-scores. Both were reversed. One zebra claimed there was a whistle that stopped a score. Like WTVT-TV Channel 13 meteorologist Paul Dellegatto twittered, it must have been one of those whistles that only dogs can hear.

Winfield, naturally, didn’t talk about those rotten calls but he did discuss the Bucs’ suffocating defense holding New Orleans to 48 yards rushing. Between Anthony Nelson and Winfield, the two nearly beat New Orleans by themselves.

If Nelson wasn’t making a play, it was Winfield, and vice versa.

The Bucs had four takeaways, the most in a game in two seasons. Winfield said that has always been a goal of the defense.

“Try to take the ball away as much as possible and give our offense more opportunities,” Winfield said.

Between Winfield and Nelson, it seems like the slimy Saints couldn’t mount any sort of offense.

In the second half, the Bucs defense fully put the slimy Saints offense under lock and key. The slimy Saints didn’t have a play inside Bucs’ territory until 7:59 left in the game. By that time, the Bucs had a 20-point lead and the Bucs were already eating a W on the bench.

That, boys and girls, is playing defense.

I hear the Five Families might be looking for some new opportunities, if you know what I mean.

  3. Taylor Says:

Seeing the broadcast play it back “listening for the whistle” was great. Everyone at home watching this game was just a quiet listening for it like I was. Nobody heard one. They were trying to keep the game close at that point.

The Five Families were ousted by the Russian mob twenty years ago…

Bucs sitting on the mountain watching the NFC south crumble. Nice view!

    6-2!!!!!!!

Luckily it didn’t cost us but the refs are getting worse

We have a championship defense folks!!!!!!!!!

    GO BUCS

  7. FortMyersDave Says:

It does seem like the refs were trying to give the Saints every opportunity to build some momentum but they refused to cooperate. The probelm with complaining is that the refs will simply double down on their efforts to bone the Bucs; kind of like MLB umpires such as John Shulock and Angel hernandez held grudges against certain players and teams for years. If the Bucs inadvertantly busted up a ref, the result would be the same. The books had this line at a mysteriously low 3.5 points and the refs did everything in their power to keep the Saints close, thge conspiracy buffs are having a field day with the different ways the refs have boned the Bucs game after game this season.

  8. DBS Says:

Even when the announcers replayed it there was no whistle. They couldn’t believe it either.

  9. HC Grover Says:

The Stainks Stink in every phase. Bottom of the pack. Bucs are a lock for another division title now.

What else would any reasonable person think at this point? Incompetence? Maybe if it only happened once.

  11. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

    “Dog whistle”!

    Sorry Winfield,

    Sincerely,

    Roger Goddell

    Chill dude. Good game? Sure.

Were we playing Brady and the Dynasty Patriots? Uh, no.

  13. Show Me the TDs Says:

I have been commenting for years that professional sports being in bed with gambling is a recipe for disaster. Does anyone really believe that the current NBA scandal is a one off? It’s common sense. Too many have long avoided facing the obvious, historical truth all in pursuit of the all-mighty dollar. It’s a shame.

  14. MadMax Says:

Im getting sick and tired of these refs….why is there no investigations? They must have skin in these awful games they’re calling….but still should be held accountable. Fines, suspensions….something.

  15. Winny Testaverde Says:

That was inexplicable. So the whistle blew mid-play while the receiver was running? Or Winfield was down by contact with no Saint in sight?! Curious, dubious and felonious.

  16. firethecannons Says:

Licht and top Bucs brass need to have a meeting with the zebras

  17. Boltsfan17 Says:

The officiating in sports in general is poor but the NFL has taken it to another level. BS like today really makes people wonder about the legitimacy of the game.

  18. Kidfloflo Says:

It seem like all year after we do something good, huge bomb, sack, interception, long run etc…I can’t even immediately enjoy it, cause inevitably there is a flag on the ground as I’m jumping off my couch celebrating! Like the movie Let It Ride (its a must see) my girlfriend and I scream “is that official” after said plays before we high five and rejoice

  19. QB6 Says:

It really does make you wonder when the calls are BLATENTLY WRONG…. it would help to see one that was called wrong on the field and THAT call gets reserved, a call that fans on both teams can clearly see was corrected.

It really does cause the integrity of the game to be questioned what we have seen these last couple of weeks.

  20. ‘74 Bucs Fan Says:

Sorry to bother you Mr. Goddell but the FBI is here.

  21. D-Mac Says:

Don’t get too excited Bucboi, it was just the Aints. With that being said, great game today by the defense. Hats off to them 👏

  22. gp Says:

Actually, there were 5 takeaways. The refs ruled one of them an incomplete pass.
I think there were more bad/non calls in this game than the eggles and lions games combined.
I really want to know how they get away with this ish?
This almost has to be called criminal at this point!

  23. SB~LV Says:

    Who blew their whistle?
The play was fluid with nothing interrupted calling for play stoppage!
    🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

  24. Oxycondomns Says:

winfield should sue if he lost any contract incentives

  25. Rod Munch Says:

Listen, plentya questions get asked — and plentya whispers, too, pinning every lousy call on one outfit like it’s forensic evidence. You’re makin’ folks steamed with that line of talk. My advice? Fuhgeddaboudit. Drop it, take your W, and beat feet before this thing goes sideways and you’re takin’ a long nap — permanently.

  26. Aqualung Says:

Outstanding. Glorious. So happy they played lock down instead of bend and break. Get healthy and especially Baker – heal up.

Heh, easy there, tough guy. You start tossin’ around words like “criminal,” people might start askin’ questions you don’t wanna answer. Look — bad calls happen, yeah? Sometimes they go your way, sometimes they don’t. My advice? Take the W, keep your trap shut, and let this one fade into the night before somebody decides to make an example outta all this chatter. Capisce?

  28. JTHV Says:

JTHV Says: If you watch as much NFL football as I do (kids play on Saturdays) you wouldn’t be surprised by the egregious refereeing going on.

It’s every single game now that some nasty blatant disregard to human eyesight going on the NFL’s “Replay Assistance” either doesn’t get involved or when they do, they are watching the same play as all other eyeballs.

If it looks like a fish and smells like a fish it’s not a ribeye.

Trash NFL refs so far this season

  29. 813bucboi Says:

Folks still not believing in the defense lol…don’t worry… we’ll have more performances like this!!!!!

  30. Nprbuc Says:

Funny that ONE zebra heard the phantom whistle yet none of his crew were seen waving their arms that the play was dead at that point. There were 22 players on the field who didn’t hear the whistle either and continued playing. Throw in the FOX replay where no whistle was heard and you have to believe that something is going on in the NFL that needs to be investigated. These continual bad calls are going to kill this sport. It’s crazy the number of bad/ missed calls this year. The Bucs aren’t the only recipients! Incompetence or something much worse?

  31. gp Says:

    Please!
    Send Guido my way!
I’ll ship him back with a flag in his

  32. Ufcguy Says:

At this point there should be a lawsuit against the nfl. Ive watched wsy too many games these refs are blatantly screwing us. You cant even at this point say its not true. Three td taken away today. Cade was another td.

  33. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

Bowlesboi where was that championship defense against the Lions and Seahawks??? Please put Bowles bowels down. He’s not that great of a coach. His teams never step up well against good defenses or offenses

“It’s almost like the NFL is in bed with a few sportsbooks.”
Thats exactly what I have been thinking the last few weeks and then this past week the whole NBA story came out

  35. Saskbucs Says:

The most ridiculous thing I have ever seen and we have all seen a lot of bull on the field. Thought it couldn’t be worse after last week.

Why is it not an NFL mandate that the refs furthest from the play aren’t allowed to blow a whistle. If the ref nearest the play doesn’t blow it, no one does. There wasn’t a whistle to begin with but saying the guy on the far side blew one instead of going to the tape, seeing no defender give up on the play and awarding a TD is criminal.

  36. JohnQCitizen Says:

Defense was great! Offense still needs some tweaks. It was soooo nice to see the Saints crash and burn…..again.

  38. Todd Says:

I could not agree more with NPR Buc. It is very simple if you are say Troy Vincent the Senior Head of the NFL simply look at all angles of video for that play right before contact to right after contact and see if any official had their whistle to their mouth and if none did, then boy have you got a huge problem that must be investigated by NFL Security. All zebras from the Bucs game brought in and questioned separately.

  39. MadMax Says:

Haha, rod, you lucky my posts being monitored, idiot

The win is one great thing.

What really bothers me is in the times of gambling and everything else this all sucks

These are plays that take away not only personal but franchise and league records.

Winfield hopefully will be represented the right way into the hall of fame to remind that just in one game let alone his young career those are two more notches he should have had.

    I believe #20 would agree.

  50. MadMax Says:

Sure, little man behind the keyboard hurling insults and threats will show up….i know you…never to someone’s face.

  51. TampaBayBucFan Says:

On reviews, it takes indisputable video evidence to overturn a call…..now we need indisputable audio evidence for a whistle…..

  52. Rob in Land O' Lakes Says:

    Just doing the math….

There are approximately 50-60 Division 1 (FBS) games per week.

There are 13-14 NFL games per week.

I don’t watch every college game, but I watch a great deal.

Each week, there may be one or two questionable calls in college football.

In the NFL, each game has 3-4 horrendous calls or non-calls.

    Something is seriously wrong.

  53. Erik with Pilot and Driver™ Says:

Gambling/corruption is the only logical reason the refs would be making these crazy obviously terrible calls. And the replay booth is in on it.

  54. gp Says:

    @firethecannons
Howabout indisputable evidence of game tampering and fixing.

  55. gp Says:

And the replay booth is in on it.

Which means the union is in on it.

Careful there, pal. Some stones ain’t meant to be turned over, if you catch my drift.

  57. BucsBeBack (Artist formally known as: BringBucsBack) Says:

NPRbucs is spot on. The whistle was so loud, none of the players OR REFS stop playing or chasing the play!? Absolutely no whistle was audible during play-back, either. Dog whistle, indeed!

  58. Scott Says:

Later in the broadcast they showed a Saints fan dressed as a giant whistle and he blew a whistle right into the camera. It probably came from him!

  59. gp Says:

Consider this. We’re all complaining based on only seeing the broadcast camera angles.
I can’t wait for our ‘all 22 guru’ to chime in with all the crap we missed!

  60. Marky mark Says:

The FBI is investigating. Trust me.

  61. DailyRich Says:

And somehow Winfield was down by contact on his pick when the contact came before he secured the ball….

  62. unbelievable Says:

@gp – I agree today it was somehow even worse. But we still prevailed. And truth is we probably still lose to the Lions, though it would have been closer without the officials bending us over. It’s very clear the NFL does not want the Bucs winning this year. We’re playing 2 opponents every week for the rest of the year, bank on it.

And no there was absolutely no whistle on that play. Every single ref was running down the field following the play. Only whistle blown was in Vegas…

  63. Stanglassman Says:

    Twice Robbed.

  64. Rod Munch Says:

You watching this Packers-Steelers game. Something tells me New York has money on Green Bay.

  65. David Says:

That was absolutely horrible. The Buccaneers need to demand the NFL investigate, someone needs to show them where a whistle blew
    How exactly is their accountability?

  66. David Says:

The second time he was clearly down. When he got controlled the ball, he was touching the other player. That’s equivalent of being touched or tagged or tackled.

There was no whistle on the first one

  67. Aqualung Says:

The Steelers got abused. A clear encroachment gave Kaaron a free play. It was so obvious. No call! At all!!!!

  68. buc4evr Says:

Refs are either really bad or they are shaving points.
Hope the FBI is also looking into the NFL.
