Can The Bucs Score 30?

October 18th, 2025

May need a lot of points Monday.

The Bucs have averaged 31 points over their last three games and scored 29 against the Jets four games ago.

On Monday, without (possibly) Mike Evans, without Chris Godwin, without Emeka Egbuka, without Jalen McMillan and without Bucky Irving, the Bucs likely will have to find a way to hit 30 points a game again.

Per BSPN Research, the Lions are in the midst of a franchise record streak of home games where they have broken the 30-point plateau.

The Lions have scored 30-plus points in five consecutive home games dating to last season, which is tied for the longest streak in franchise history (1952-53 and 2021-22).

Well, if you include the Detroit home playoff loss to Washington last year, the Lions actually have a six-game home streak scoring no less than 31 points.

In those six games, the Lions averaged 37 points.

So just to be safe, the Bucs may want to shoot for 38.

Do the Bucs have the firepower to pull that off?

I’m glad we didn’t sign Jalen Ramsey

  2. Bama Rich Says:

    Amen Beej! He looks horrible.

  3. Bucsnbeers Says:

Those young receivers might have a breakout game. The defense needs to step up. Helps that we have 2 DB’s coming back.

  4. Marine Buc Says:

I remember before the draft Todd Bowles was quoted saying – “you can’t win on a regular basis in today’s NFL without scoring points”…

This put a smile on my face.

Then we drafted EE in round #1 and Tez in round #7. Re-signed our starting LG, LT and RT.

Seems like our head coach is evolving.

    Nice.

  5. Jmarkbuc Says:

Wish we could run one of those hook and lateral plays. The lions are so fond of. Give em a taste of their own medicine.

  6. Senor Harry in Costa Rica Says:

I picture Cade Otten and RW being more involved Monday night in the passing game; RW had some big receiving games last year. I do not understand why Grizz is not using him more. Then mid range shots to Johnson and Johnson, with a couple of long ones. ME will pull double coverage, but he will still get his.

Yes, with the Lions depleted secondary, we can pull off getting at least 30, then maybe our D can break the scoring streak and hold the Lions to 27.

    I do picture a very close game. Bucs win 31 – 27

  7. BucsNoles Says:

Thinking about Charley Heck blocking Aidan Hutchinson makes me a little (actually a lot) scared of that matchup

  8. NLK@boston Says:

run the hurry up offense. throw 50 plus times, mostly quick slants, white from r.b. and out routes to neutralize pass rush. detroit won’t know what hit them. throw in a couple of flea flickers and the philly special. this game plan = bucs 41 – 24

  9. Mike Johnson Says:

I may be wrong. But I feel our Bucs are gonna blow the Lions out. Their secondary is virtually all 2nd string. We shall see. I think we score close to 40.

  10. Bucblind Says:

Yes. To answer your question. Mayfield has a way of making it work with just about anybody. I don’t know how he does it but he does it. Somehow they elevate their game when playing with Mayfield. Maybe he still has a little Sooner Magic dust on him. Or maybe that’s the it factor in him, who knows. He will use who we have and we will be competitive. Mayfield IS him. All these years he laid hidden in plain sight to the media and they wrote him off as fast as they could type it up. What a great story.

  11. Bakerfan Says:

Bucs will need to score on every offensive possession including the first one. Remember last year they always got out of the gate real fast. Also, if Bucs lay an egg on Monday night in front of national audience they will be dismissed as a bunch of posers including Baker. So Bucs take it personal and prove you belong as an elite team.

  12. Aqualung Says:

Need a 40 burger to have a chance. The Lions offense is that good, and the Bucs defense isn’t.

  13. Lightningvinny1 Says:

I’m going in w low expectations this game ,,, you are asking a lot of Baker and the back ups.(a good band name) I don’t think you can call them posers if they lose this one at night ,,, Try and run the ball and hope the D gives us their A effort

  14. AMI_Chris Says:

I haven’t been all that happy after each of those early squeaker wins. But this is a game where I’ll be ecstatic with the ugliest of ugly wins. Tough game on the road without all weapons against a good team.

  15. JimBobBuc Says:

If the OL can protect Baker, then it can be done. As others have said, the Bucs need to get off to a fast start – especially the defense. In this game, TDs will win the game but not FGs. Red zone play on both sides of the ball will be key.

  16. GoneGator Says:

    Can we score 30+ ?
    Definitely!

    Will we need to ?
    We’ll see!

    Let’s go Bucs 💪🏼🏈

  17. Bartow Buc Says:

If ME13 and EE 2 play yes the Buccaneers score more than 30 !!

Bucs 35, Lions 17 !! If they both play.

Go Bucs !! Beat the Lions !!

  18. Mike Johnson Says:

I elieve our Bucs will score more than 30 against the Lions. My guess is, they might put a spy on Baker. But that frees up somebody as long as he gets it out quick.

  19. Aqualung Says:

Research shows an uptick in reptilian retardation.

  20. Let em Bake Says:

Special Teams. It may come down to one mistake. Hope the lions make it…

  21. Aqualung Says:

90 to -5, Bucs win! Yay!!!

  22. David Says:

No doubt in my mind they score 30. Bucs back up receivers are better than Lions back up DBs.

This game comes down to Buccaneers D line & pass rush. If it looked like they did against San Fran, they might win rather easily. If not, they might end up in a shootout like in Seattle.

  23. Bucfan1988 Says:

    Can we score 30???

    HELLS YESSSSSSSSS we can.

We now know that Detroit is playing without their ENTIRE 1st string secondary!!!!!!! This includes their starting nickle as well!!

    Main focus for the offense….
MAX PROTECT the right side against Hutchinson….

    Here’s how you do it….

Tell Cade Otton to have a seat this game….
***Add a 6th O-lineman to play the TE position***
6th lineman plays right next to Charlie Heck ALL GAME!!!

You constantly double-team Hutchinson and wear his a$$ out. Give him the Vita Vea treatment 🙂

If ME13 is back and maybeeeee EE02 then you give Mayfield the time to expose this backup secondary..

    Just my 2 cents 🤷🏻‍♂️

  24. sethery Says:

    I think yes.

  25. garro Says:

I really don’t think our offense has gotten in to high gear for a whole game this year. This game may be the wow moment even without Mike, Buka, and Godwin.
    We shall see.

    Go Bucs!

  26. Scotty Mack Says:

The Bucs will need at least 35. I’m hoping for 40+ so that I can keep at least a few hairs.

  27. orlbucfan Says:

Oh, you can bet Hutchinson is a big focus in the O game planning. White has had to help out with protecting Feisty Bake cos of all the OLine injuries. With Big ME13 coming in, he will be at the very least a powerful decoy. ME13 will also free up Otton and White to catch more balls. This OG fan hopes the Bucs win. I take nothing for granted with Tampa Bay. And watch out for the zebs, Bucs.

  28. Aqualung Says:

Lions could score 50, that’s the issue.

  29. Marky mark Says:

Garrett Greene will have a breakout game.
