Mike Evans Is On The Practice Field

October 16th, 2025

It’s a beautiful sight.

The greatest receiver in Buccaneers history is back on the practice fields today at One Buc Palace, his first time since exiting the Bucs-Jets game with a hamstring injury on Sept. 22.

Evans has 14 catches this season in three games, good for 140 yards and 1 touchdown. He needs 860 more yards this year to become the first receiver in NFL history with 12 consecutive seasons of 1,000 yards receiving.

An official injury report will be released later. It is sure to show Evans as “limited” in practice today.

The Bucs’ next game is in Detroit on Monday night. Just the presence of Evans on the field Monday would go a long way toward keeping the very average Lions’ defense from putting a ton of stress on less experienced Bucs receivers.

  2. Ricki Says:

yes Rapoport said it yesterday Mike Evans will be in practice and Emeka will be back on field also

  3. BucU Says:

Per Rick Stroud 3 min ago…

Lots of returning players for Bucs. Mike Evans, Zyon McCollum, Benjamin Morrison, Mike Jordan are all practicing.

Thank you Lord!!! That helps our cause!

  4. Todd Says:

Lions defense is not capable of putting pressure on anyone unless you count sucker punches after the game-how bush that was.

  5. Gipper Says:

Hope ME13 gets the best compression hose available and keeps them on both legs the rest of the season. Stretching, lots of water and compression stockings should solve the hamstring problem? Pretty sure the Bucs trainers are doing this so it is hard to know why this is a chronic problem?

We need Mike on the field for this big game. We all want him to get that 1K yards for the season so he needs to have some big games and with Branch out I’m hoping we can exploit their secondary. Unfortunately no Mek most likely as he would draw a lot of coverage away from Mike now that he is a known commodity.

  10. Danfan Says:

Gipper, some athletes just have dodgy hamstrings (or develop chronic problems over time). No matter what treatment or preventative measure is taken, it gets easier and easier each time to recur. With his history, Mike’s hamstrings must have lots of scar tissue buildup too – unfortunately hamstrings are one of those things that usually don’t heal back better than before. That’s why I think we really may see Mike retire and of this season – either the gap is too far and his streak is stopped, or he does make it and gets the record – either way there is less motivation going forward, measured against the increasing chance and impact of injury. Noting that this was apparently a minor hamstring injury, but he’s been out 3 games…

    *end of this season

    Lightningvinny…

Stick Vita over there on Heck’s right shoulder for a few plays…😁😁😁

    Hallelujah!

  14. JA Says:

Sure would be nice to have Egbuka back as well. Who knows with the extra day’s rest due to a Monday night, but from what I’ve read it’s probably false hope on my part.
With Mike still drawing double coverage, despite this being his first game back, time for the backups to step up again with the continued absence of Godwin and McMillian. So far they’ve been great!
Can’t imagine a better NFL corps of team receivers than ours.

  15. MJ Says:

best news ever!!! GO ME13!! Go BUCS!!!

  16. Geno711 Says:

Scar Tissue is the Culprit for Mike Evans. Not hydration. Not stretching.

When a muscle fiber tears (a hamstring strain), the body heals it by laying down scar tissue (fibrous tissue). This scar tissue is different from original muscle tissue.

Original muscle tissue is highly elastic and pliable, designed to stretch and rapidly contract, especially during explosive movements like sprinting or jumping. Scar tissue is significantly less flexible and more rigid.

That now is the reason for continued hamstring injuries. Not because neither he nor the Bucs trainers are being lazy on his preparation for games.

The dude tries to make a move and the less flexible scar tissue injuries another area of his hamstring.

Like lots of football players, likely you are going to see the effects on Mike Evans when he is older as well.

Gipper, you would think it would be easy, but I found that my time in the military caused some IT Band issues and hip/knee pain that stems from tightness in my IT Band. Literally only a few years of really strenuous labor/training and I’m still dealing with it. I’ve even stopped working out my legs for months only to reaggravate it. I learned to do a lot of stretches, use a heat pad (aka my cars heated seats on long drives), and stay hydrated.

  18. Drunk Bucs Fan Says:

    Geno711,

Thank you for that. Makes a lot of sense

  19. BucVoyager Says:

Hutch will probably go bonkers on Heck.I hope we do a lot of chipping and double teaming.

  20. BucsFan81 Says:

If Mike Comes back this week we have a chance.

  21. Fanofdabucs Says:

Any of our media ask about Luke or will be just have to rely on ESPN for updates?

  22. 813BUCBOI Says:

lions only beat 1 team with a winning record!!!!..da bears!!!!

lions have only been able to hold the Browns under 20pts this season…

BUCS have beaten 3 teams with a winning record!!!

BUCS have beaten 2 1loss teams!!!!!

BUCS defense has held 3 opponents to 20pts or less!!!!!!

BUCS are 3-0 on the road!!!!!!

    6-1!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  23. orlbucfan Says:

Praise the lord (and I’m an agnostic)!!! Just having future HOFamer ME13 on the field will give the Lions D a few more headaches. Big Mike will be in Canton, and you can bet this is a YUGE emotional lift for Feisty Bake and the entire O. Yeah, Hutchinson is a monster, but he’s still human and just one player. I have a feeling Big Mike will retire soon, too. He has been a total class act for our Bucs. Not too shabby for a kid from the Galveston, TX area. GO BUCS AND BIG MIKE!!!!! Defang Detroit!

  24. Ben Says:

Hell yes now lets see some vintage Evans and ball out on Monday!

  25. jason honeycutt Says:

hopefully our strength and condition coach strength our best player with hamstring issues whole career. pathetic!

  26. Jeff Says:

Mistake. Had the perfect opportunity to rest him for 3 more weeks and have Mike at 100%.

    ———–

If he’s ready to play, he’s ready to play.

  28. Rod Munch Says:

If Mike isn’t ready to go, based on all the injuries they have anyways, I assume they’ll still play and start him, and just basically run him out as a decoy. Even if he just jogged out there, and jogged some routes, the defenses would still have to treat him like he’s Mike Evans, and that should provide Johnson & Johnson, and the forgotten bout Ryan Miller, and Shepard with some easier matchups.

Also, if Mike IS ready to go… have him jog out to the field, don’t barely move for a few plays, make Detroit think he’s injured and just a decoy, then, if they buy it, when they’re only half paying attention to him, have him go deep.

  29. Gotti-Dog-05-20-84 Says:

The surprise bold prediction of the game…..Bowles puts Desmond Watson in at TE to help Heck block Hutchinson!!

    I am jesting……

  30. Kenton Smith Says:

“If he’s ready to play, he’s ready to play”. Correct, Rod. He had, according to Joe’s reporting, his best training camp maybe ever. Be nice if he could be a decoy and then fool them on a bomb. But I’m thinking that won’t be necessary. I’m expecting Evans to go off like a bomb Monday. 10 catches 170 yards 2 Tds. We need to reestablish the pecking order in this receiver room. Mike is an all timer and he ain’t dead yet.

  31. TampaBayBucFan Says:

Mike could play with crutches and still draw double coverage helping our other WRs….

  32. miken Says:

    What is hLB?

  33. GoneGator Says:

    Great news

  34. heyjude Says:

    Fantastic news!

  35. Buckit Says:

Hahaha. . . Saw a report that ME showed up on the practice field today in pads, but realized that the rest of the team was not in pads. He is ready for some contact!!!

  36. Jeffrey Becker Says:

if Evans aggravates his hammy he’ll retire at end of year when the streak ends.

  37. David Says:

Time for a massive push towards 1000!!!

  38. Bucs4Ever Says:

    SB>>>>some stupid streak

WHo cares about a random streak

    WIN

  39. MadMax Says:

Nice, we’ll see…no hurry Big Mike.
