Vita Vea Is A “Tsunami Of Power”

October 14th, 2025

Monster.

Joe can visualize the scene in the movie “The Untouchables” where Al Capone had a meeting with his capos and Capone was talking about teamwork.

“Team… team… team… ” they all nodded in agreement (before one got his brains bashed in by Capone with a baseball bat).

Well, Joe guesses it is that way with sacks, too. Sunday, YaYa Diaby had two sacks. He likes playing San Francisco. Two years ago YaYa had two sacks against the 49ers.

On both sacks, YaYa was cleaning up the garbage.

The first sack Sunday came when Haason Reddick couldn’t get Mac Jones down. YaYa followed up and crushed Jones.

YaYa’s second sack came when Vita Vea bull rushed 49ers right guard Dominick Puni. Absolutely blew him up. Ran right over him. Freight-trained him. But Vea couldn’t quite get to Jones.

Still, Vea blew up the play and Jones was desperately searching for the escape hatch. Before he could find it, YaYa leveled him.

That play was all set up by Vea, completely blowing up the pocket. Vea didn’t just get the trait everyone loves, penetration, but fully exploded the pocket. Aside from Jones scrambling, Vea destroyed that play.

Brian Baldinger of NFL Network does a nice job breaking down the play by Vea and YaYa.

I would like to see Desmond get a chance to line up with him this year. Could be epic.

  2. Gipper Says:

Too bad that Big Gator Watson couldn’t discipline himself to shape up. Would have been fun to see him line up next to VV.

  3. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

NoNo Disappeari finally showing up in the box score.

  4. Obvious One Says:

Boy has that first round pick paid off or what!?

I remember that draft and in my heart I wanted Vea because of what we’ve been witness to for years but his position at the time wasn’t on the general public’s radar and sparingly here and there through the fan blogs. I felt like I was in the minority as to wanting him bad because I was. And then, in Jason Licht fooled you way, Vea’s ticket was cashed when it was time to set the tone for tomorrow’s.

I was So Tickled and excited about the potential of our Buc’s being defensively DOMINATE… Having flash backs of heroes past and heroes future. And Vea.was there on draft night with his REALLY BIG HAIR ON A REALLY BIG MAN! He himself was PUMPED to join us! It was awesome and for once the pick I REALLY WANTED was drafted to us instead of a corner or safety that usually (just like Every Year ) the pundits boring choice for us. NEVER even the “trendy” names that had amazing stats, no.. Always the third or forth favored in those positions or ANY position . Usually someone you’ve never even heard of…. Yeah I remember WELL the beginnings of Jason Licht’s tenure and I’ve ALWAYS LOVED the surprises he pulls out of his hat for us… And Vea was Certainly one of them..

  5. 813BUCBOI Says:

vita making sapp eat tons of crow lol….

    Lichts best defensive draft pick!!!!!

e.roberts is playing great ball but Licht go get Jeffrey Simmons…TITANS ARE REBUILDING!!!!

    6-1!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  6. Jmarkbuc Says:

    ICBW

But Reddick seems too small or too light or not strong enough. He definitely isn’t lowering the boom on anyone…

  7. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Watching the above video, interesting choice of words for “YaYa leveled him”. Looks more like he tripped him by grabbing at his shoelaces. Baker would have run right through that.

  8. Obvious One Says:

And as for Watson….. he’s going to have Regrets for his Entire Life concerning his lack of Will Power and the fact that he threw away the “Golden Ticket Opportunity” he had, to play the greatest game Ever Created. The Life Changing money, and the Life Changing “Physical Conditioning” that could have, and Probably Would Have extended his Very Own Life….

But as they say, you can lead a horse to water But…………

    What a fool

  9. Obvious One Says:

Yeah Scotty, he’s busted on that one!

Though you have to admit that the sound of Ya Ya blowing him up sounded So Much Better than the actual “Reality”…

Funny how true to life the realities are. Most of the time it’s NOT a Dominant display of Knowing Strength and Laser Focus….

Rather it’s more likely “Zigged instead of Zagged” LOL!

  10. a-bomb Says:

Y’all know that Watson is on the Bucs practice squad, right?

  11. UGotRobbed Says:

I’m with ya there @ 386BUCBOI!! Think they are going to clean house, so I think the deal could get done!

    Beat the Lions!!

  12. D-Rok Says:

    In the huddle:
    YaYa: “Now, Spike, NOW?”
Vea: “Yes, little buddy, now. I’m gonna steamroll that guard this play so make sure you are there to clean up.”
YaYa: “Thanks, Spike – I’m on it, I’ll be there!”

I wonder if Vea tells his mates WHEN he’s not gassed and can give max effort – you know, communication?

    (Sarcasm and hyperbole).

  13. infomeplease Says:

VV 50 is having a great year!! Keep steam rolling!! Get it done!!

  14. UGotRobbed Says:

AND! I think TB could develop Simmons into one of the best pass defending tackles in the NFL! 😄

  15. BucU Says:

Vita has been awesome. So has Jacob Parrish. Don’think he’s ever missed a practice since he walked in the door. Too bad our 2nd rd pick Morrison is a perpetual medical patient.

  16. Billy Bucco Says:

This is why we say the Interior of the D Line is the most important for generating sacks.
Anybody can win around the outside occasionally, but can the QB step up in the pocket?
Go get another dominate DT and the sacks go up!!

We gotta have Zyon and Ben back though. Morrison should be rounding into form come playoff time.

The biggest trade we should swing honestly is for a LB that can cover TEs.
Dennis is seriously our weakest link IMO.

Maybe he gets the “FEEL” maybe not, but right now the passes over the middle are a joke.

  17. SB~LV Says:

Off season Suh training for on and off the field is showing up BIG TIME,
He is now big and muscular
    Not big and flabby
His head is all about excellence!

  18. Aqualung Says:

Reddick is playing better than many realize. He’s being asked to drop into coverage quite often and, unlike many of his mates, actually seems to be in the vicinity of a receiver when a pass is thrown. He’s playing the run well, containing, doing the job Todd has him doing. We’d still like to see him on the LOS 90% of the time rushing the passer but, maybe against the Lions.

  19. Ryan Says:

Vea coming back is a massive reason why we won the super bowl! I’m surprised he isn’t talked about as one of Lichts top 5 draft picks of all time.

  20. Cannon Says:

    Who doesn’t love pancakes?

  21. Bucnjim Says:

Way better shape this season! Hardly ever see him bent over, sucking wind.

  22. Canabuc Says:

Right now there are four or five teams that is clear are rebuilding and will not make the playoffs these include the Raiders the Giants the Titans the Dolphins and Bengals. Each one of those teams has at least one player whether it’s on the defensive interior or at outside linebacker that I think we could pick up in a trade costing at most a second round pick and that would immediately help transform our defense at one of our weakest positions and outside linebacker or to further upgrade our defensive interior line that took a major hit when losing Kancey.

The fact that we are now five and one is great news but with teams like Carolina and Atlanta showing improvements and with New England now looking like a much more difficult matchup than before the season started there is no cakewalk to win this division and we are still riddled with injuries. Even when most of our players come back we are still in my opinion week at inside and outside linebacker and could use another piece of defensive tackle. So please Jason get this done!

  23. orlbucfan Says:

Just looking that video shows teamwork. All-World VV50 starts leveling and YaYa is right there to finish the job. VV has always been a great player and person off field. I’m glad he has a SB ring cos he earned it. Now, how about a NFC Championship game in Tampa? Why not? Only this time Bucs will win it. Go Bucs, 6-1!!

  24. KABucs Says:

Many people wanted Derwin James drafted instead of Vea.
A dominant tackle is harder to find than a good all-around safety. Jason knows his trench business. He was still learning regarding player evaluation and drafting back then but he got this one right.

  25. unbelievable Says:

We had at least two sacks where it was via blowing up the pocket that led to the other guy getting a sack

  26. MelvinJunior Says:

Deone Walker looked like HIMSELF again, last night! The man is ‘the definition’ of a BEAST. The Bills stole him and it makes me SICK. He DOMINATED the line of scrimmage when he was in last night, tipping a pass and everything. There was a stretch there of 3-4 drives in the second-half, where he was unstoppable… Even, while having to be double teamed. NO PROBLEM. He was STUFFING their run game. Looks like he’s lost a TON of weight, since his last season at Kentucky, last year. They even had him ‘lining-up’ directly over the Center too, like a traditional NT. Believe it or not, he mostly lined-up off the EDGE at UK, even at 6’7” and about 370. He played a huge part in that blocked FG, too! We really ‘missed-out’ out by not trading back up into the 3rd and getting HIM. He was SUCH a STEAL for the Bills. Hell, he was projected as a ‘potential’ TOP-10 PICK (1st-Round, at worst), heading into his last (true Junior) season at Kentucky, and was a 5-Star Recruit. He DOMINATED THE SEC as a FRESHMAN. True-Freshman. And, was FIRST-TEAM ‘All-SEC’ his SOPH. Season. There were just A LOT of real ‘bad-things’ going on at Kentucky that year, including an extremely TOXIC locker-room. He even played hurt all year, and they kept him ‘on the field’ for EVERY play! He would be completely GASSED by the second-half. He prob put on a few too many pounds, but he was injured. He was one of the steals of the draft, and I wanted HIM BAD. The perfect eventual replacement for Vea. Really a FREAK Athlete to be THAT size.

  27. Steve Jackson Says:

Why the hell is he playing on the punt team!!! He sits out key drives and yet they have him on the punt team. STUPID

  28. MelvinJunior Says:

He has a very ‘high’ motor too, for a guy of that size. He was just gassed last season, banged up, prob put on a few too many lbs, after losing a little interest (easy to do), while playing for THAT (Toxic and BAD) UK-Football Team. All you had to do was look at his history, from HS to his first 2-seasons at UK… And, you’re talkin’ Top 10-15 Pick, without a doubt. A HIGH, HIGH Motor. And, you saw-it last night… He was A MAN on a mission 💯. He was as good as Jalen Carter, or ANY OF THEM. And, he has the type of ‘special’ size that you cannot coach, standing at 6’7” and 350lbs. AND, can play coming-off the EDGE rushing the passer. He’s a FREAK. I mean, tipping passes at the line of scrimmage. Bowles would’ve LOVED HIM.

  29. MelvinJunior Says:

They were forced to have to put TWO guys on him (and he took ‘em both out) on that FG attempt, which lead to freeing up the dude that actually blocked-it! Damn. He had one HELLUVA game.

  30. Geno711 Says:

Melvin good call on Deone Walker — seems like he would have been a good fit for the Bucs as you suggested.

I got to say that I am glad that you were wrong about Egbuka calling him a 4th rounder after we selected him. He looks like a foundational piece to me.

I also don’t think there will be 6 or 7 1st round talented Wide Receivers in the 2027 class. Although his classmate from OSU will go very early, he may not end up being the pro that EE is. I always found that some of the best college talents don’t always translate to necessarily being the best at the next level — the variables are always different.

  31. MelvinJunior Says:

If you’re talking about Tate, I believe he will prob be a 1st-Rounder. BIG-Deone had 4-tackles for a loss last night too, by the way! LoL. I NEVER said that EE was a 4th-Rounder, EVER. Hell, I even said BEFORE the Draft, that IF we DON’T ‘move-up’ to 13th or 14th (if he falls and is there) to jump ATL for Jalon Walker, then I am GOOD with taking EE at #19 if they believe HE is the best WR in the class (when Joe wrote that first article about the Bucs possibly taking a WR). That, ANYTIME you can get The #1-WR in the draft at the number 19th-PICK, then that would be a good thing. But, I WANTED Walker. And, then the OTHER WALKER. As in Deone. And, I was ‘HIGHLY’ PISSED over it (though, mostly for allowing Deone to get all the way to the 4th-Round). So, it’s possible I said something the day after, in discussed. But, I never said that EE was a 4th-Round Talent… I always thought he was a lot closer to JMac, who I believed THEN, was a fringe 1st-Rounder, had he not been injured. I liked JMac even BETTER than Odunze. Now, I could’ve said that he would not have been drafted ahead of Marvin Harrison, Malik Nabers, Odunze, Brian Thomas Junior, and maybe a few others, in THAT Draft-Class. And, he wouldn’t have been (or he prob would’ve left early). He would’ve been a 2nd or 3rd rounder, in that class… Again, I think ‘similar’ to JMac. Also, I am aware of the 2027-class having dropped-off a bit of late, mostly due to “Hollywood Williams” having some issues, BUT he’s still ONLY 18-years old… Crazy. Also, Texas and Manning’s ‘offensive-issues’ has really hurt Wingo. But, there is still a loooong ways to go until then! And, I still think you’ll see at least SIX go in the first-round. I would take Bernard or Tate in next year’s draft, but not in the 1st-Round. I would rather wait for the 2027-class, and grab one of them. I am real high on Coleman right now… I like his size, freakish athletic ability, length, strong hands, and speed. Again, I didn’t have any other issues at all with taking EE, other than I WANTED Jalon Walker instead. And, was over that quick… I didn’t think it was HORRIBLE. Other than that, I was more pissed about rounds 2-6. Especially, with Deone.

  32. MelvinJunior Says:

And, let’s be real about it! Cause, hell.. Good ‘Ol Bake is making Division-2 WR’s, & 7TH-Round Picks right now, look like SUPERSTARS.

  33. MelvinJunior Says:

If BIG-Deone can stay around this 330lbs mark, then I can’t see HOW you stop him!? I guess, that only he can stop HIMSELF.

Godwin had just turned 21 too, where EE will turn 23 not long after the season begins. It was safe, boring, and a reach at #19. It was SUCH a weak draft at WR, that HE would’ve been a ‘4th-Round’ Pick in last years draft, & that’s a FACT …

Ok, you said he would have been a 4th rounder in last year’s draft or am I still reading it wrong?

  35. Geno711 Says:

Your response was posted in the April 25th article:

Emeka Egbuka And The Kevin Kiermaier Effect.

The article before that was Todd Bowles addresses outrage (of the Egbuka pick).

You seemed to me disappointed about it —

    MelvinJunior Says-

I don’t get all of the “OUTRAGE” speak… Cause, I haven’t really seen-it!? Very little of it. What I have seen is A LOT of ‘homerism’ and the rest has been mostly, just confusion, unfulfillment, and a little disappointed. I wouldn’t go as far as absolute OUTRAGE. Not over this one particular mild move here. But, allowing Cohen to leave and choosing Bowles over him… Now, THAT WAS “OUTRAGED.” People went NUTS. Both sides. On the radio and everything. Especially, T-Kress LoL. The only thing that bothered ME by this move was NOT being BOLD, by ‘trading-up’ for Jalon Walker. Now, THAT would’ve been a STATEMENT ‘move’ there, by saying that we mean ‘business’ right now (and the future LoL). That would’ve been a Super Bowl move. The ‘move’ he made was safe, boring, and a reach at #19. It was SUCH a weak draft at WR, that HE would’ve been a ‘4th-Round’ Pick in last years draft, & that’s a FACT (even Urban Meyer said it, and HE absolutely LOVES the kid). That was one reason he came back and returned to OSU for his Senior Season… And, of course, NIL helped allow him to do that (as per Urban, who I am not a fan of btw). I was just wondering how JMac took it and was handling it right now… He couldn’t be ‘thrilled’ to death over it.

Needs at LB, DE, CB and Safety and Licht reaches for a player who won’t play meaningful snaps for 2-3 seasons. Maybe he does miss Spytek helping him out…

This pick makes me feel like Licht didn’t watch the games and just took naps during game days

Licht bombed the draft after the Super Bowl high on their success and now after back to back playoff seasons it seems he’s reverted back to being complacent

Unbelievable natural character — clearly a leader.
It will be hard not to root for this guy.

If you like ME’s and CG’s leadership skills — You are going to love his.

This guy going to have a National Championship trophy and a Super Bowl trophy.

Too bad that Big Gator Watson couldn’t discipline himself to shape up. Would have been fun to see him line up next to VV.

Watson has lost weight and been signed to the practice squad. He’s getting installs and working – don’t be surprised if he suits up, if needed, for a game or 2 later this year if he keeps making progress 🤞🏼
