“It’s Become Normal”

October 9th, 2025

Barring a steady stream of meltdowns, eventually a makeshift offensive line morphs into something else.

That’s what’s happened at One Buc Palace.

Veteran Charlie Heck at right tackle and stunning practice squad call-up Luke Haggard at right guard have taken over the right side of the line with starter Cody Mauch and Luke Goedeke out.

All-world left tackle Tristan Wirfs has been back for two games, which put left guard Ben Bredeson and center Graham Barton back to their usual positions.

Head coach Todd Bowles says the new-look line feels like an established group.

“I think those guys are settling in, you know, two weeks in with Bredeson back where he is and Barton back where he is and Tristan back where he is, and Heck at the right [tackle] and Haggard at the right [guard], you know, it’s become normal,” Bowles told the Buccaneers Radio Network. “You forget that we got two guys out and those guys did a heck of a job battling all day. We didn’t get as much in the run game, but we got a lot in the pass game. They did a good job keeping Baker [Mayfield] clean.”

Anyone worried about the offensive line against the 49ers on Sunday? Joe’s not.

9ers will come to play but we’ll be ready!!!

    4-1!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  2. Jack Sparrow Says:

I’m more worried about the Bucs defensive line …. 🤦🏻‍♂️😱

  3. D-Rok Says:

I do admit that I had been concerned about our O-line with all the injuries.

Not anymore. Our coaches and players have done an AMAZING job so far finding a good line. Hats off to the O-line – great job as a group!!

  4. zzbucs Says:

Where are all the Bowles detractors?

This team is a hospital, and we are 4-1!!!!

And most people do not or canot see that Bowles is a great factor on this…………

  5. infomeplease Says:

One game at a time!! You got a job do it, do it well!!! Keep BM6 upright and this game is very winnable!! Get it done!!

  6. Beeej Says:

As a group, not best run blockers but they’re good to go at pass blocking

  7. Slacker Says:

Offense will be fine as usual. Get ready for Mccaffrey to have 100 yds receiving. Dennis can’t cover average pass catching backs.

  8. 813BUCBOI Says:

    ZZ

SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE CLOWNS IN THE BACK!!!!!

    4-1!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  9. mj Says:

i hate the 49ers they used to bludgeon us back in the 80’s …currently we’ve lost to them four times in a row. does anyone own us as much as the 49ers? another monkey to get off our backs like houston and mnf and west coast and atl …. please beat the 49ers!!!

  10. Defense Rules Says:

Beej … This makeshift OLine has impressed me in that Baker’s dropped back to pass 76 times in the last 2 games, but has only been sacked 3 times. That’s a sack rate for those 2 games of roughly 4%, LOWER than what Baker took in 2024 (6.55%) or 2023 (6.58%). These guys are doing their job (keeping Baker clean) and doing it very well.

We actually did ‘respectable’ rushing the ball in the Eagles game (26 rushes for 104 yds … 4.0 YPC, our season average). But Philly’s Run Defense (rated #22 now) isn’t nearly as good as Seattle’s (rated #3). We only ran it 24 times against the Seahawks for 56 yds (2.3 YPC), but I suspect that was just to ‘keep them honest’. Their Pass Defense is as bad as ours (ranked #25) so I think we just struck at their weakest element. Sure did seem to work.

    INTERESTING OFFSEASON AHEAD
    1) Other than VV, the defensive needs 2xMLB, 1-2xOLB, 1-2xDL
    2) Do Godwin, JMac, Mauch, and Goe make it back from injury?

This team already has a lot of needs but now other holes are emerging. Licht has his work cut out. Now we know why he doesn’t like to trade away draft picks.

  12. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We just can’t draft an edge rusher…..Braswell looks like a 2nd round bust….Yaya OK for 3rd round pick but not setting the world on fire.

It’d say , for the exception of a stud TE….go with Dline & LB….trade later picks to move up for best players….we need quality, not quantity….

  13. Jeffrey Becker Says:

hopefully last week wasn’t an aberration and we cover releasing backs better

  14. 813BUCBOI Says:

    sly

i’d add a CB in there too lol

    4-1!!!

    GO BUCS!!!

  15. HopeIn1Hand... Says:

Ko the pitbull blocking TE is out too so I was expecting a precipitous drop in the quality of the Bucs blocking along with a spike in penalties but this past Sunday Luke Haggard was using the force and Charlie was giving ’em Heck on the right side all game long without much help. It wasn’t perfect but they were consistently getting push and playing clean. It seems the Bucs get push cleanly since Carbury took over as OL coach no matter who they trot out on the field. Prior to Carbury’s arrival it seemed the Bucs couldn’t move the line of scrimmage with 5 healthy starters and TE help. Michael Jordan looked like an old hand out there too before he got hurt. The Bucs are in uncharted OL waters but the sailing seems surprisingly smooth. Good stuff.

  16. Gipper Says:

Surprised that Elijah Klein hasn’t cracked the O line starting group. Very curious about him believing that he is a diamond in the rough. If the the 5 mentioned here are getting it done, that’s good enough for me. Sunday will be a good test against a well coached SF team.

  17. Davyboy Says:

The OL is the only way to have a great quarterback. I don’t care how quick or fast you are. A quarterback is only as good as his line. Good job boyz!!!

  18. Brandon Says:

So what’s up with Elijah Klein? Makes the squad out of training camp but gets passed twice on the depth chart by practice squad guys. Isn’t this worth asking about?

  19. Billy Bucco Says:

Question is when Goedeke comes back, who is better at RG for the rest of the season Haggard or Jordan? If Goedeke comes back!!! Geez our Tackles have given us fits the last 2 years with injuries.

Not a problem though and glad we have depth. I would say Mauch was the weakest link anyway and that’s not a knock.

As far as what/who we need for this team to be truly LOADED week in and week out, I agree 1-MLB, 1-DT, 1-OLB, 1-TE, 1-CB in that order for this year. Would Mark Andrews help, yes!!! I don’t think he would help more than Q. Williams or Luvu or Trey Hendrikson

We need MLBs like we need to win the lottery, so I have no idea why Pratt wasn’t looked at? I’m ready to see some Deion Jones honestly. Or give me a fast as hell guy that tackles like a rocket for this game only.

  20. Aqualung Says:

There’s one thing to worry about. Swiss Cheese broker Todd Bleows.

    Baker 40 Burgers or Bust

  21. Woodman Says:

Todd has already made you look like a Trolling idiot I believe he is living rent free in your head.Ironlung.

  22. Cobraboy Says:

I am always concerned about the OL no matter the opponent.

  23. dmatt Says:

Imma be the. Rust to say it, I believe Chris Braswell is a bust.

  24. garro Says:

Not seeeing much in the morph department just yet Joe. They did look better on the right side Sunday though. We shall see because it looks like Luke is gonna be gone too.

    Go Bucs!
