Lavonte David: Sam Darnold Was Throwing The Ball Away
October 7th, 2025Joe suggested Sunday evening that the Bucs might want to put Logan Hall’s helmet in the Buccaneers Ring of Honor.
After listening to Lavonte David today, Joe thinks it’s an even better idea.
David joined Up & Adams on FanDuel TV today and talked about his game-changing interception late in Sunday’s Bucs-Seahawks game in Seattle.
Without that pick, man, Joe doesn’t want to think about it.
Host Kay Adams asked David if it’s difficult to haul in a pass after its redirected after hitting a lineman’s dome.
“It’s hard, but luckily my focus was intense,” David said. “You know, I was like, ‘Gotta make a play no matter what.’ I actually seen it hit off of Logan’s helmet and everything. … I was just locked in, zoned in on it. It looked like [Sam Darnold] was about to throw the ball to the ground, but it ricocheted off Logan’s helmet. So I was able to get eyes on the ball and come up with the catch.”
Watching film of the game, Joe agrees with David that Darnold was throwing into the ground. The ball clearly pops up after hitting Hall’s helmet, and the rest is history.
More important, Darnold himself said, “I was just trying to throw it away.”
Great play by David. Great stroke of luck for the Bucs.

David with the pick & Hall gets the assist; but Winfield getting to Darnold was the catalyst.

great play LVD!!!!!
yet, IF the refs wouldve visited lens crafter before the game, they wouldve saw there was no holding on Zyon on AW31s INT in the beginning of the 4th quarter…
but it is what it is….
offense played great, ST played decent, the defense created TOs and the BUCS WON!!!!
and more importantly, TODD had to fried crow for @aqualung!!!!!
4-1!!!!
GO BUCS!!!!
October 7th, 2025 at 3:12 pm
folks forget darnold was a top 3 pick and won 14games last year LOL
4-1!!!!
GO BUCS!!!!
October 7th, 2025 at 3:28 pm
Darnold, note to self, don’t throw away to the middle of the field.
October 7th, 2025 at 3:30 pm
Interceptions are created by pressure on the quarterback, we don’t get much of that

BATTLE OF 4-1s
The 49ers have played all close games, too. Should be a good one.

Does seem odd, doesn’t it?
October 7th, 2025 at 4:04 pm
Yep. Bowles needs luck and fluke for his defense to be credited with a crucial
Play. Swiss cheese is offended to be the comparative for Todd’s “defense.”
Pressure needs to ramp up on The Genius to do something about, anything about this defense. In terms of fixing it. Can’t rush 4 and get home. Can’t blitz without telegraphing and leaving easy completions 15 yards wide open. Can stop an opponent’s first drive of the game (unless their kicker shanks like Seattle). Can’t stop a drive at the end of a half. Sure enough can’t stop a drive at the end of the game which is why Rachaad’s play was superior. He know if he scored, Sam Montana Darnold would pull a CJ Stroud and lead a 3 play 65 yard drive in 25 seconds.
Sham.

awj caused that pick, he hit him while he was throwing
October 7th, 2025 at 5:07 pm
Also Winfield disrupted Donald’s throwing hand…without that happening who knows what that outcome could have turned into.

What 813 Bucboi said!
“TODD had to fried crow for @aqualung!!!!!”

From the TV angle, at least the original one, it sure looked like it was going to Cooper, but then I saw another view last night, from the opposite side at a three quarter angle, and it’s pretty clear Bradford is throwing it away – by directly throwing it into the line. What an idiot, he’s trying to ground the ball into the middle of the line? That’s a moronic move, not sure why Seattle fans are taking comfort in that. But a great play by David in any case.
October 7th, 2025 at 6:28 pm
It has come to my attention that not all QB’s named Sam have the last name Bradford. I’m not sure that is true, but if it is, I’d like to apologize to the Darnold family. Then again if he actually won a big game instead of choking every time he’s in the lime light, maybe I’d learn his name.
October 7th, 2025 at 6:29 pm
It’s weird that the Seahawks would put Bradford in for that one play!! So glad they did though! Lol
October 7th, 2025 at 6:48 pm
Anybody want a grin, google Sammy Baugh. Now that Sam was a QB!
October 7th, 2025 at 7:19 pm
Wasn’t he known as ‘Slinging Sammy Gaugh’
October 7th, 2025 at 7:34 pm
Yes, that was the nickname. 6’2, 185 pounds of muscle. True NFL legend.

Wow, 6 time passing leader, 2 time champion, responsible for popularizing the forward pass – he was all man!

A little off topic for this post, ya’ll have my apologies.
I have been critical of Mayfield. Interceptions, fumbles, blah, blah, blah.
The pass to Shepherd to tie the game at 35 made me a believer.
By no means am I saying it was the greatest pass of all time but I will say it was a damn fine pass.
We have a quarterback, boys!
October 7th, 2025 at 8:49 pm
Feeling like a dead duck
Spitting out pieces of his broken luck, oh, Aqualung
Go suk on Coens cokk some more little whiny boy 🤣

I’ve always been a Robert Saleh fan. Wish Todd would’ve had the humility and foresight to hire him as DC. He’ll have the Niners ready.
From the Shield site…
“ Saleh’s defense is showing up big with the game on the line. The Niners’ D has made huge plays in the crucial moments of all its victories, including a fourth-down stand in a 26-23 overtime win over the Rams on Thursday night”

LVD has been in my top 5 fave Bucs list since he got here. Derrick Brooks needs to move his HOF bust over and make room for 54. Go Bucs!! 5-1!!
October 7th, 2025 at 10:04 pm
Let’s look at the 2020 Bucs and who will be in the HOF one day…
Locks:
Tom Brady
Rob Gronkowski
Mike Evans
Ndamukong Suh
Should make it:
Lavonte David – Absurd he’s only made like one pro-bowl, which is a stupid worthless meaningless award, while making three ALL-PRO teams, which is the highest award a player can get. He should get in, but it will be a fight because he’s such a quite guy. But I do think players will be the ones speaking up for him and getting him in.
Tristan Wirfs – Unless his career is derailed by a major injury, he should be a lock.
Going to be tough:
Antoine Winfield Jr. – I think it all comes down to how long he plays for, but if he can play for 12+ year, I think he’ll get in. But with safeties, it’s really really difficult, so no sure thing.
Jason Pierre-Paul – Not sure he has the production, and frankly if all the guys above get in, it’s going to make it tough – but he did play a big part in not just the Bucs, but the Giants, winning the SB. I think, however, he’s going to be at that Simeon Rice level however, just a touch below the HOF.
There’s a chance:
Vita Vea – Going to be tough, but with no ALL-PRO awards and just two pro-bowls, despite getting tons of media attention, it’s unlikely he gets in unless he has a very strong close to his career.
Blackballed:
Antonio Brown – He should be a HOF’er, but there’s no way they put him in.
————
Anywho, that’s a ton of HOF’ers for one team – and it’s part of the reason why David will have a hard time getting in I think. While it’s never said, it sure seems like there is a cap on how many players can get in from a team if they only win one SB. If the Bucs win another one with some of those guys, the chances obviously go up dramatically.

Luck helps but the defense gotta get better.Baker did his part.
October 7th, 2025 at 10:24 pm
Knothead71 you are way late to grasp things. I was a believer 4th game 2018 when Baker broke a 30 something game losing streak coming off the bench for the Browns. Bowles became a believer scouting v him spring 2018. Have you always been so slow to learn things?
October 7th, 2025 at 11:26 pm
We had a little luck when Hall accidently used his head. I agree. Still, while we can’t actually catch a QB we at least panicked Darnold into a stupid mistake in a game where he was otherwise nearly mistaken free. We were in a position where any score would win. A lot of games come down to that or the NFL would be boring. I’d say that’s pretty darn good. I’m pretty sure we won that game without loosing any more players. Even Heck and that Hagged
October 7th, 2025 at 11:27 pm
Haggard guy look pretty good.
October 7th, 2025 at 11:38 pm
Also Seattle had a lot more rest. SF gets the same advantage. Two weeks in a row against team who played on Thursday night.
October 7th, 2025 at 11:57 pm
Loved when Kay Adams call the Buccaneers ‘The Come Bake Kids’!
October 8th, 2025 at 1:40 am
Area Code maroons and cerebrally expired reptiles with Pom Poms. Sure are cute when trying to excuse a 35 point final 31 minutes (including the obligatory TD given up as time expired in the first half). Needing a fluke lucky play to keep Sam Montana Darnold out of the endzone. Area Code mroon brings up Darnold’s draft pedigree. Ryan Leaf was picked second overall. Draft status isn’t relevant. Whether first or last (Purdy) everyone has career days against Tdod.

There’s a guy on X claiming Dennis may have got a hand on it too.
