Rachaad White Can See Offensive Line Getting Better

October 3rd, 2025

Next man up?

Joe thinks it is a safe bet that Rachaad White will get his share of carries Sunday in Seattle.

Bucky Irving missed his second day of practice yesterday. He was in a boot and on Wednesday. A guy in a boot and on crutches isn’t usually a guy who starts at running back four days later.

The Bucs’ run game has not taken off yet this year. It’s squarely in the middle of the pack, ranked 16th in yards per carry at 4.4. Last year the Bucs were third in the league at 5.3.

One reason for the stunted run game is the offensive line. It’s been a trainwreck with injuries. Two weeks ago none of the projected starting five played at their normal positions.

One would think now that the Bucs have Tristan Wirfs back at left tackle and left guard Ben Bredeson and center Graham Barton have returned to their normal positions, at least the left side of the line is beginning to stabilize.

Rachaad White thinks so.

If Bucky cannot go Sunday, White will have his number called often. He spoke yesterday about the September chaos on the offensive line.

“It has been pretty tough when we have been battling the injuries up there and guys have been coming in — stepping in — and moving from position-to-position,” White said. “I would say those guys are athletic up there, for sure, being able to move around.

“Guys being back at their natural position that they have been playing, and the camaraderie and consistency is getting up there. We feel pretty good about it.”

In no way is Joe trying to take anything away from Bucky, but the way White has looked the 23 times he has carried the ball, Joe has seen a new spark or an edge in White. He’s averaging 4.7 yards per carry.

If White keeps getting decent production on the ground early against Seattle, it’ll be interesting to see if Bucs offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard feels White to try to get him on a roll.

Joe is a whole lot more comfortable with White toting the rock 25 times than Bucky.

Was about to say, RW running VERY well this year, wonder if those BC glasses help him see the hole better, dude literally explodes thru the line now

  2. AMI_Chris Says:

After seeing what the 49ers did last night without their starting QB, no Bosa, no Kittle, no starting WRs and being on the road, I don’t want to hear about Bucs injuries. Just git ‘er done!

  3. Lt. Dan Says:

I’ve gradually warmed up to White but I can’t wait to see Tucker get some totes too.

I still see remnants of Rachaad’s dancing in his game. I’d like to see him be more decisive. It seems he either hits the hole full speed without any feel or dances too long while looking for the perfect lane. But overall he’s running with more purpose this year. Curious to see if Tucker takes advantage much like he did last year. But the guy I’d really like to see get a few carries is Williams. I just doubt Grizz is going to try a three headed monster, and I have no idea how much they’d trust him with pass pro. But my eyeballs tell me he’s a sleeper. JW has a lot of feel & wiggle in his game, has a low center of gravity, and plenty of burst & bulk in his legs. Really liking our stable of backs this year, and if we can get to the playoffs with a healthy and fresh Bucky, he’s a true difference maker.

AMI, I had the exact same thoughts last night watching 9’ers. BTW, I wonder if Lynch is second guessing all that cash to Purdy?

  6. JimBobBuc Says:

White has improved this year with reduced weight this year and better quickness.

Agree about San Francisco, the last couple seasons they’ve had big injury problems but still play well. The Bucs will have a big challenge with them.

  7. MadMax Says:

Extend him Jason….what are you waiting on

  8. Jmarkbuc Says:

Was really excited by Whites running in Houston, decisive and quick.

Then he started tip toeing in again on Sunday..

I do not care for the Ra-cha-cha-chaad version.

  9. Tucker Says:

Waiting on the draft no extension necessary

  10. PSL Bob Says:

AMI, totally agree. Seems like injuries have really taken a toll league-wide this year. So, no excuses. Put your best players in and develop a game plan that plays to your strengths and exploits your opponents weaknesses. We really need a win this week!

  11. Eckwood Says:

Run to and through the line of scrimmage Rashad and your talent will land you a nice second contract …….. run to the line and hesitate as you did your first couple years and as you did when you almost lost the first down last game and your next contract will be half of what it could be ………. Run to and through Rashad you have the talent you can’t keep stopping at the line of scrimmage………… you seem to really broken that habit a lot this year, but almost gave up a first down last game. Go Bucs !!
To , Through and Forward at speed and RW runs for 120 Sun !!

  12. buctoothbucky Says:

    R. White is a bum, we should get rid of him ASAP. Maybe trade him for a 3rd, 4th , 5th, 6th or 7th round pick. AAAHHH MAN, I shouldn’t be commenting right now. I’m having a colonoscopy done and that stuff I’m drinking has got me running off at my rear end.

  13. Aqualung Says:

Josh Williams should be RB2. Tuckers couldn’t block a sloth.

  14. Bucs4Ever Says:

    bucky out 2 weeks?

    next man up

  15. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

Getting Tristan back alleviates a lot of who were missing.

At some point, we’ll get Goedeke back.

For now, we’ve got to get Barton & Bredeson back on track with their bodies and minds being re-acclimated to where they’re both supposed to be playing. I get that, my gripe will be-until I see otherwise-is personnel usage & ball distribution in the run game. Especially after seeing Bucky go down. Could’ve happened on any play, but it could also been less likely with a more varied approach in using personnel.

We don’t need a bell cow, we need a productive and functioning run game. Do that part first.

  16. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Maybe it’s because he’s in a contract year, but he no longer runs like Cha Cha White.

  17. ClwJB3 Says:

He has the build top endure the pounding much better than Bucky does for sure. He is very good in the passing game and pass blocking parts as well, this team has some real depth, and we need every bit of it! Tucker is a bowling ball; love the way he runs with authority.

  18. GoneGator Says:

This may be the only way RW was going to get more than 5-10 touches. Hopefully Grizz is learning his lessons now and our offense will just keep getting better.

    Let’s go Grizz… You got this 👍🏼

  19. orlbucfan Says:

White has already proven himself as an offensive weapon. He is an excellent blocker and potentially deadly as a receiver IF boneheaded Grizzard will call the right plays. Grizzard has already worn out Irving. Both LT78 and Ungodly CG14 are getting back into 100% game shape. Seattle is a victory if this OC will call the right game.

  20. BigBucsFan Says:

I would like to see Rashad white repeat the game he had against Seattle, a couple of seasons ago across the pond

  21. Woodman Says:

First thing we agree on Ironlung.
