Tristan Wirfs And Chris Godwin Ruled Out; Michael Jordan, Emeka Egbuka Questionable
September 19th, 2025
Not this week for Tristan Wirfs.
The Bucs’ list of wounded was updated today by Todd Bowles to include practice squad guard Michael Jordan, who has started the last two games at left guard and performed darn well.
Jordan, since he’s officially a practice squad guy, doesn’t have to be on the team injury report. But Bowles said Jordan has a knee injury and the Bucs are still figuring it out with tests.
Bowles said only Chris Godwin (healing ankle) and Tristan Wirfs (healing knee) are ruled out for Sunday among the active players, per Buccaneers team report Scott Smith. Both practiced this week.
The bigger problem is the inactive offensive linemen; right guard Cody Mauch (knee) and right tackle Luke Goedeke (foot) are on injured reserve.
Also questionable for Sunday is rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka (3 TD receptions). He’s got groin and hip issues.
September 19th, 2025 at 1:20 pm
This injury situation gives me groin and liver issues.
September 19th, 2025 at 1:22 pm
What is going on?!
September 19th, 2025 at 1:23 pm
Why so many injuries? Is is it how the Bucs practice? Something doesn’t make sense and most of it is on the offensive side.
September 19th, 2025 at 1:27 pm
The whole league is dealing with injuries not just the Bucs. This is where our depth and training program and culture comes in. If it’s as good as we think it is we should be fine for this week. Next wk is a different animal
September 19th, 2025 at 1:29 pm
Ko Kieft better eat his Wheaties.
September 19th, 2025 at 1:29 pm
Probably a very wise decision ref Wirfs. Painful decision due to all of the other injuries, but wise none the less.
September 19th, 2025 at 1:32 pm
So just read that the Bucs brought Desmond in for a look and see. Maybe he has now lost enough weight to be available for the tush push defense?
September 19th, 2025 at 1:35 pm
The new guy (vet we signed from the Bills PS) won’t be ready.
So if (not that) Michael Jordan can’t play – I’m guessing Haggard at LG and Klein at RG????
Bucs won’t tip their hand prior to game day as to who will be playing and where up front.
Let’s just hope it works out ok with all these moving and aftermarket parts being plugged in.
I’ve liked what I’ve seen of Haggard in the past – so have some small degree of confidence he would be ok. Not sure about Klein yet – and from the way the Bucs bypassed him with Jordan initially – Seems like they are ‘not sure’ about him yet either….
Klein is and has been listed as the backup behind Mauch at RG since the roster was set. And Klein played RG in College so that is his ‘spot’ so to speak.
It will be interesting to see who the Bucs play this week on the OLine.
RG is obviously a spot where we will see a new face. LG as well if Jordan can’t go….
And I would really like to see Chukwuma get some snaps from Heck at RT this week! In fact I’d like to see Chukwuma play the whole game at RT this week because even as green as he is – I think he would be an upgrade over Heck.
September 19th, 2025 at 1:35 pm
The amount of lower body injuries isn’t a coincidence.
September 19th, 2025 at 1:36 pm
If we lose this weekend, at least it’s an AFC team.
September 19th, 2025 at 1:37 pm
“”” This is where our depth and training program and culture comes in”””
Yeah right. Our so called “training program” obviously sucks. The results speak for themselves. These players can’t sneeze without being out for extended time or going on IR. And culture will get you NOWHERE when you’re starting 3rd string/practice squad guys. Something is very wrong at 1 Buc Place. Also known as MASH unit 1.
September 19th, 2025 at 1:40 pm
I love how some morons think knee injuries can be prevented by training staff or practices. Probably hurt themselves getting off the couch Sundays.
September 19th, 2025 at 1:47 pm
<>
Totally beat me to it, SC. Groins and hamstrings MAYBE. Knee, foot, shoulder and other areas of direct contact? … highly unlikely.
September 19th, 2025 at 1:48 pm
Five teams are without their starting QB this week.
September 19th, 2025 at 1:48 pm
All of you get well soon!
September 19th, 2025 at 1:49 pm
These injuries aren’t due to technique, poor training, poor coaching, or an incompetent sports medicine staff. It’s simply bad luck. Big men pounding each other. get hurt. It’s just unfortunate that is happening to so many this early in the season. Now we’ll get a real assessment of the Bucs coaching staff. Adjusting to a mass casualty event won’t be easy, but if they pull it off, we’ll know we have something special!
September 19th, 2025 at 1:52 pm
Unbelievable. The NFL Players Union has got to get these guys OFF of these ‘synthetic turf’ fields, IMMEDIATELY. It has just become a joke at this point.
September 19th, 2025 at 1:55 pm
Year after year these injuries pile up
Why can’t this team stay healthy?????
Wirfs has GOT to be back in week 4 to have a chance against Philly
If Wirfs and Godwin are not back by Week 5, why weren’t they put on the PUP?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
September 19th, 2025 at 1:55 pm
SC Bucs fan,
You know it’s all that new trainer’s fault. Some woman named Tonya.
September 19th, 2025 at 2:01 pm
There’s no more slow ramping up in preseason, injuries have been insane since they did away with that.
September 19th, 2025 at 2:01 pm
Glad the Bucs will finally be playing on grass this week. Hopefully this will help to minimize any further injuries.
September 19th, 2025 at 2:07 pm
Houston was doing what the Bountygate Saints did – cutting and tackling low. They know full well this can and will cause injuries. It’s a decision by their coach to do so. Pretty sad in this day and age that they can get away with it.
We were lucky that Baker wasn’tput out of action with a knee injury. Go back and watch the highlights and you can see what was going on. Cody was undercut blocking down field. Demeco should be suspended for this garbage the way Sean was back then.
September 19th, 2025 at 2:20 pm
If they’re SIT THEM OUT, this is the week to sit and figure things out. All hands on deck week 4 our receiver core is better than most. Let our rookie receiver heal up for week 4 instead of playing the next two weeks at half speed
September 19th, 2025 at 2:21 pm
jcscycles … ‘Houston was doing what the Bountygate Saints did – cutting and tackling low.’
Bucs have certainly had a lot of leg injuries this year & last year especially, but I would hope that the NFL keeps an incredibly close eye on instances of tackling low. And would also hope that if a team even suspects that, that they bring it to the NFL’s attention and ask them to review select plays or whatever.
The game of football is obviously a violent game, but there’s no place in sports, at any level, for players trying to INTENTIONALLY hurt other players.
September 19th, 2025 at 2:24 pm
They better be ready for Jets to be doing some all our rushes right from the beginning
September 19th, 2025 at 2:27 pm
Injuries are happening across the league at every position. It’s football and when you don’t use your body all offseason this is what happens. Ask. Any. Athlete.…. Remember, the lions lost basically half their starters last year and still ended the season strong. Hope is not lost!!!
September 19th, 2025 at 2:28 pm
The last 2 or 3 years it’s always been defensive backs, now it’s linemen
September 19th, 2025 at 2:32 pm
Pretty soon us fans are going to have to put on a helmet and strap up and be ready to play Sunday. This team is running out of bodies.
September 19th, 2025 at 2:32 pm
Defense, you would hope the league would clamp down on this. But there is a photo of Baker’s scramble on 4th and 10 that clearly shows Gardner -Johnson going low for Baker’s knees. That’s why he would up doing a flip and landing on his back.
This is the same defensive player that took ot Chris Godwin’s knee ACL back in 2022 with the Saints. It’s one thing to tackle someone, but something else to cause serious injury. John Lynch hit hard, but they were all hits up higher, and he always wrapped up..
Don’t know how you stop stuff like this., though. We were just very lucky that Baker has the reflexes that he does. Otherwise Teddy Bridgewater is starting this Sunday.
September 19th, 2025 at 2:37 pm
The OL is a mess. WRs are down. DL is in trouble. SVD and Dean and McCollum are awful.
And the team is 2-0.
Not bad.
Get healthy, boys.
September 19th, 2025 at 2:42 pm
Injury luck is a part of the game but WHOOOPH! Russian ground forces have a lower casualty rate than these Bucs. The Bucs should trade for Christian McCaffery just ‘cuz getting hurt is what their new team identity is. Jamel Dean is fit as a fiddle though so at least we have that going for us. The roster is deep but not even close to deep enough to mitigate these losses. Maybe they can “killer instinct” and “ballhawk” their way to a respectable finish? 2025 INTs Count stands at zero. 2025 dropped INTs count is four. David’s drop on Sunday was almost as inexplicable/unforgivable as his drop against Altlanta last season so arrow is pointing, um, anyway, Mayfield has this team at 2-0 but there isn’t much to feel warm and fuzzy about going forward. Which will happen first? A Bucs INT or a significant Mayfield injury? I’m not saying it’s time to start draft research but is definitely temper those expectations time.
September 19th, 2025 at 2:44 pm
I know Sua Opeta is somewhat familiar with our playbook but will he be ready to play sunday? This game has the makings of a 14-10 Bucs Victory!!
September 19th, 2025 at 2:47 pm
ESPN has Heck rated with the highest run block win rate amongst all tackles. If we are going to be leaning on the rushing attack we might want to keep Heck in there.
September 19th, 2025 at 2:48 pm
“Big men pounding each other.” Aside from the fact that sounds funny, that’s BS. There are levels. Injuries are normal, and then there are an inordinate amount of injuries. Big men have been “pounding each other “ for decades. There is an injury epidemic across the league and it’s at an all time high by a country mile. The irony, considering so many things have been legislated out of the game. And while there is issue across the league, when people reference other teams’ injuries. I DONT CARE. This is a year over year thing with Tampa. Tampa goes back to back in 2021 if not for injuries to key players. We can be all RAH RAH, and pretend that we’ll valiantly fight through it, and give our practice squad guys the ol college cheer, but the reality is that if Goedeke and Wirfs are hobbled all year – the season will be a disaster. If baker gets hurt as a result of people not staying healthy – season done. And the fact that we’re not even in to week 3 yet and we have to be on this gd bullshi already – is maddening.
September 19th, 2025 at 2:49 pm
Bucs need air bags in their uniforms.
September 19th, 2025 at 2:52 pm
You would think this is one of the oldest teams in the league with all the injuries. Yet they’re one of the youngest. Seems like for the last 3-4 years each year has more and more injuries. Glazers might as well buy a hospital the way they’re going this year. All this tech and sports science you would think they could prevent some of them.
September 19th, 2025 at 2:54 pm
The texans went for the kill
September 19th, 2025 at 2:59 pm
Did not see the so called cheap low shot on Mauch.
It seems in the first series of Bucs offense in the third quarter, his blocking seemed normal.
In the second series of the that quarter, you can see Mauch on 2 of the 1st few plays coming out of the end of the play with serious gimping.
Not sure when the play where he hurt his knee happened or if it was an accumulation of stresses on his knee. If Jcscycles has the time it happened great — otherwise — not sure when the injury happened to Mauch.
September 19th, 2025 at 3:23 pm
Mauch really gutted it out playing in a knee that needs surgery for over half the game. So many guys on this team are really tough dudes. Except Dean which is made of glass. Somehow he isn’t injured yet. I still can’t wait to see this team fully healthy with all starters on the field at the same time. I don’t think we have seen that in over a year. Probably week 1 of last year.
September 19th, 2025 at 3:33 pm
just win sunday then rest all the starters
September 19th, 2025 at 3:33 pm

September 19th, 2025 at 3:34 pm
The conspiracy theories regarding injuries is amazing
It’s football part of it
Next man up
LFG Bucs

THIS IS WHAT WE GET FROM BOUNDING THE ROCK… AIRING THE ROCK IS THE WAY TO GO!
September 19th, 2025 at 3:59 pm
Desmond Watson in for a look see.
September 19th, 2025 at 4:03 pm
Folks, in football there’s no rules regarding tackling low. None. There can’t be. Never been a flag for tackling low. Alot more knees torn up by non contact. Alot more.
September 19th, 2025 at 4:07 pm
Nano107 … No question that injuries are ‘part of football’ but there’s always been the reality that it’s BIG BUSINESS, with millions (OK, billions) of dollars at stake. Winning is the name of the game, for keeping your job as a coach or player, etc.
Unfortunately history has proven that folks sometimes do some very questionable things to win. And I’m sure that the NFL hierarchy keeps a close eye on things like that. We have very strict rules for instance on targeting and on roughing the passer. And there are good reasons for those; without them, I’m confident that we’d see a lot more really serious injuries.
September 19th, 2025 at 4:27 pm
Injuries are a part of every sport but people do get paid to create programs that reduce player injuries and rehab faster. For us that’s Maral Javadifar. It’s not a conspiracy to question her performance.

^Bahahahaha!
September 19th, 2025 at 4:38 pm
Who are bringing up from the practice squad (O-linemen)
September 19th, 2025 at 4:39 pm
Anyone trip over a sprinkler head at practice today and out for the year?
September 19th, 2025 at 4:47 pm
Defense Rules, absolutely agree football is better, not worse with the targeting and QB and defenseless player rules.
September 19th, 2025 at 4:52 pm
Injuries happen people, embrace the challenge. Bucs win 35-10
September 19th, 2025 at 5:01 pm
Its the jets were talking about, give Klien and tubthumping (chubawumba?) some snaps
September 19th, 2025 at 5:16 pm
i played football growing up, in the nfl it’s so fast and violent it’sa wonder more guys don’t get hurt but this comes in rashes
September 19th, 2025 at 5:20 pm
American Football is a violent, social event. No other country has it. So, like everything else, it will entertain a lot of Americans. It’s a good distraction right now.
September 19th, 2025 at 6:00 pm
I do not blame either the training staff or the coaches Stuff happens. Football has always been a contact sport. It is a hard hitting sport. The NFL is ever looking for anything that can be demonstrated to reduce injuries. Having good healthy teams go against each other is good business when all is said and done.
I believe in the injury bug just as much as I believe in the football gods.
Go Bucs!
September 19th, 2025 at 6:22 pm
I know one thing, even with these injuries we better not struggle or take the length of the game to put 21 points up against a team that’s allowed 30 & 34 points in its last two games.
We’re playing with reserves, not a numbers disadvantage. No excuse to need the whole 120 minutes in 2 games to muster 21.5 ppg(18th) we’re sitting on and only 2 points more than our defense is allowing at 19.5 ppg.
Jets are also averaging 21.5 ppg offensively.
September 19th, 2025 at 6:35 pm
Really getting sick of these injuries, didn’t see many back in the day, soft???
September 19th, 2025 at 7:34 pm
The league focused on decreasing head injury a few years back. I recall seeing a lot of flags for helmet to helmet hits for awhile. Players hit lower now. This is the tradeoff.
September 19th, 2025 at 7:50 pm
No where else i can really find my answer but where is Shaq Barrett? I literally havent heard his name since end of last season.
September 19th, 2025 at 8:05 pm
Joe unfortunately saw a video floating around social media this week of him cleaning baby sh!t off furniture.
Joe’s not joking.
September 19th, 2025 at 8:42 pm
They’ll be fine. The team has character and the guys will step up.

D.R.
“The game of football is obviously a violent game, but there’s no place in sports, at any level, for players trying to INTENTIONALLY hurt other players.”
While I obviously agree I think we both have to admit that there have always been “head hunters” in the NFL. To me even worse than the headhunters are coaches like Sean Peyton who encourage them with bounties!!! It’s why I loathe Peyton.
The wakeup for real came to me back in the 80’s when I was in TV. One late summer I covered a high school jamboree on Friday Night, a Tennessee Vols game on Saturday and then an NFL preseason exhibition at Neyland between the Steelers and the I think it was the Pats. High schoolers tended to simply pull guys down, SEC players started the hitting but the NFL is a totally different animal.
I was on the sidelines the Pats player was running for the OB marker to get out of bounds. I see Mel Blount making a beeline for him and he didn’t play an angle to simply force him out. The play was done but Blount sprinted as hard as he could like a SAM, I know you remember those..it was simply a race..Blount won and just as the player reaced the sideline Blount got there in time to truly blast him!
It was then, even in a preseason meaningless game, with a championship team and the nearing the end of HOF career but down and distance meant nothing!
It was ALL about how much punishment Blount could deliver.
Watching an NFL game from the sidelines is a real eye opener!
