Bucs Make NFL History Monday Night
September 15th, 2025
History.
You don’t often see teams with back-to-back game-winning drives in the final two minutes of games. That’s why Joe is typing this here story.
The Bucs took the lead against the Dixie Chicks with 1:18 left when Emeka Egbuka and Baker Mayfield hooked up on a 25-yard touchdown pass. The Bucs then hung on to win 23-20 to open the season in Atlanta.
Then tonight the Bucs scored a touchdown on a two-yard plunge by Rachaad White with 0:06 left to escape Houston with a 20-19 win.
So why is this important? Well, the Bucs, by winning tonight, became the very first team this century to win back-to-back games on the road on the backs of two very late touchdowns.
Per the Bucs media relations department by way of something called @StatsPerform, the last team to do that was the 1999 Jimmy Johnson/Dan Marino-led Miami Dolphins.
And if you must ask, the Dolphins were a wild card team that season. It turned out to be the final season for both Johnson and Marino and their Hall of Fame careers.
Joe doesn’t think Todd Bowles and Mayfield are going anywhere after this season.

Baker was amazing !! EE2 was amazing !! ME 13 was amazing!! White,Irving, and Miller were all amazing!!The defense was absolutely incredible!! It seemed as if our o line is still trying to find its identity. And Grizzard is still getting warmed up to calling plays. But when the chips were down (after Chub helps us out by scoring quick) , what a beautiful, arm chair clutching, game winning drive it was!!
Bucs Win !! Bucs Win !!

I got at least 10 gray hairs watching the Bucs tonight… hell of a comeback drive by the offense!
SVD is gonna be a liability all year it seems. Time will tell about Heck and our kicker…

What is the Bucs kickers name ?? I’ve forgotten already!! What is it with our kickers ? Once they catch the miss disease, the missing just continues.

Another gritty win for the boys, love to see the fight, as long as there’s improvements week to week the sky is the limit for these guys

Wonder if any kicking issues could be his new holder in Dixon?
I am not worried about him….. Yet.

This was history, but not for that reason – this was the first time EVER the Bucs have won in Houston – be it the Oilers or Texans.

I read its first time since 1980 The Bucs QB led team to 2-0 start on last min drives. for most who weren’t alive back then, this then 15 year old fan remembers! Week 1 at Cincinnati in crazy weather game where Sun was out, then it Poured torrential rain, then sun again Doug Williams hit Jimmie Giles over the top of the end zone leaving just over a minute for future Bucs QB Jack Thompson and the stripeless Bengals to fall 17-12. Then just 4 days later, in the Bucs first ever appearance on Monday Night Football (even though it was a special Thursday edition) the Bucs trailed 9-3 when a bomb to rookie Kevin House drew a pass interference 1st down around the 12 of LA. Williams ran to right after protection broke down through sheer gut and determination pushed his way to the 1 yard line as Dandy Don and Howard went nuts, Williams took it over the top for a 10-9 win paying back Rams for their 9-0 NFC Championship game win year before. Hopefully parallels end there, as 2-0 Bucs finished 5-10-1 and Bucs D lineman was lost for the year (randy crowder) paving way for a decade of play from #76 David Logan!
