Brian Baldinger Breaks Down Graham Barton

September 10th, 2025

All-22 reviewed.

If Joe wants an idea of how the makeshift Bucs offensive line did on Sunday, the very last people Joe would consult would be the PFF tribe. Joe would have greater respect for the insight of British soccer hooligans.

No, if Joe was going to get feedback on an offensive line play in a game, Joe would talk to a former NFL offensive lineman. Enter NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger.

The former NFL offensive lineman did a brief breakdown of the Bucs’ offensive line against the Dixie Chicks. While he admitted the Bucs had a thrown-together line, he was impressed.

“The Bucs juggled their offensive line, but it paid off,” Baldinger said. He especially like how Graham Barton played in his first game as an NFL left tackle.

Baldinger highlighted how violent Barton’s hands were and how quick he was off the ball. Indirectly, Baldinger loved how Bucky Irving chipped in to pass block. That’s something Joe never expected.

Baldinger also highlighted how Barton held his own against talented Dixie Chicks rookie defensive end James Pearce. Joe thinks Tristan Wirfs would have owned the rookie. Barton got bullrushed a little by Pearce but he didn’t get abused.

Fun stuff by guys who, two weeks ago, never thought they’d have played where they started on Sunday.

Baldinger is great but I wish the videos were better. I love his enthusiasm for the details of line play.

  2. Aqualung Says:

Griz, fix the run blocking and use Rachaad more in the passing game.

  3. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

I keep telling you guys, Baldy is one us, he just keeps it neutral because it pays the bills. Wouldn’t be shocked if he had a Buc fridge magnet or a little flag at his desk at home or even better Mrs.Baldinger is a Buc fan and it’s just unavoidable lol

  4. ReeeBarrr Says:

Of all positions in football, center seems like the worst position to play.

Home ball behind your legs in a squat and hurry to block a 300lb + man who didn’t have to hike anything and is charging full speed

    Yikes

  5. ReeeBarrr Says:

    Hike ball

  6. Delson Says:

I thot moving graham over was genius. If u think about how much Atlanta wanted to take advantage of Heck being on the outside via how much they blitzed.. Then ud appreciate the move as well. We weren’t great but it threw off Atlanta’s gameplan defensively.

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Let’s see how they do in game two…..more passing to RBs please…it will open up the running & passing game.

  8. Obvious Says:

Will be interesting to see if we roll out the same combo on Monday. I would assume so for continuity.

Hunter and Anderson are very different from what we saw on Sunday.

  9. David Says:

Somewhere else I mentioned it looked like Barton was being thrown back on that game winning TD, but watching it here, at a better angle in a slow mow, he did great.

  10. T. Says:

Thamk you. This breakdown by Baldy makes me feel better about our Line. Moving all these players around for 1 guy being out is huge.

  11. David Says:

Houston has a great defensive line, they’re going to have to step it up a little more, especially in the run

  12. Gofortheface30 Says:

He did indeed get bull rushed a few times, and if it wasn’t for Bakers pure arm talent that last touchdown doesn’t happen. Baker threw that off his back foot, couldn’t step in to throw because the pocket was collapsing on him. Grizzard calling long developing routes on a reshuffled offensive line was…bold. Let’s get the ball out of bakers hands, let’s get some easy completions, maybe get White and Irving in some space

  13. ocala Says:

Once Wirfs is back the Bucs starting five are arguably as good as any line in the league. I thought it was a brilliant move to start Graham at LT and he did a solid job, but its hard to compare him to the best OT in the NFL.

  14. infomeplease Says:

Nice bet nice!!! Not bad for a backup!

  15. Pmike Says:

Speaking of O lines, Houston has a very green O line. Hoping to see Kancey and Vea wrecking havoc.

  16. Capt.Tim Says:

    Just my opinion.
But Bredeson is weak as a left guard, but he is an above average Center. That is primarily the position he played in NY.
Barton has the potential to be a dominant blocker. Why waste him at Center, when he could be a monster at Left guard.

Just my opinion. But why have one of your best blockers worrying about hiking the ball. Let the guy destroy as a pulling guard.

  17. larrd Says:

It is great to have a lineman as versatile and excellent as Barton.

It reminds me of Bruce Matthews–99 games as a left guard, 87 as a center, 67 as a right guard, 22 as a right tackle, 17 as a left tackle. He was also long snapper on field goals, extra points, and punts. Never missed a game due to injury in 19 seasons. Nine All-Pro teams (two were second team) 14 Pro Bowls. Best interior lineman ever?

  18. BaroqueSmoke Says:

I’ve learned a lot from Baldy’s breakdowns. Love it!

  19. orlbucfan Says:

Being a Bucs Radio freak has one drawback: I have to visualize the plays. The announcers have always done a great job so I’m sticking with it. I appreciate looking at these highlights though. Baldinger has been a closet Bucs fan for years, even with the stinker squads. Like me and other fans, he is probably besides himself (on the QT) with how talented this bunch is. Licht has always stressed versatility in his players. They’re delivering the goods. I really like what Bucky is doing. He’s watching and being influenced by White in that he’s starting to catch and block. Please, please, please gods of football and Lady Luck: Can we get through one season w/out being the walking wounded?

  20. DrunkInYbor Says:

I watch these as soon as he pits them out. Gotta love the big crooked hand man

  21. Buc1987 Says:

    Come back soon Wirfs!

  22. ballwasher61 Says:

How bout some love for Jordon being thrown out there and standing tall, great job

  23. Scotty Mack Says:

I saw Bucky pick up a blitzer several times during the game. I was super impressed how much he improved in his pass blocking skills.

  24. unbelievable Says:

Agree Baldy has definitely seems like a bit of a Bucs fan / believer for a while now. Has given our guys respect much longer than most “media” guys.

  25. Stanglassman Says:

Is Baldy a Bucs fan because of his relationship with Kancey or has he been Bucs friendly longer?

  26. garro Says:

Damn shame that Heck was that freaking bad…apparently. Love Baldy and his film breakdowns. One of the corrupt networks should be writing him a big fat check to do this stuff….Oops nevermind they would try to script him into the nework’s agenda.

    You rule Baldy!

    Go Bucs!
