  1. Jmarkbuc Says:

Wonder if the Center from TX, Majors makes the PS.

  2. MadMax Says:

Elijah Roberts shows up…just use him right Todd. Hall coming along too….i pushed for both.

  3. LakelandBuc Says:

Todd Bowles love special team player
More so than guys actually playing their position
There’s only 7 offensive lineman, outside of Wirfs

We will see how this roster works against Atlanta

  4. Iamgusswayze Says:

Just my opinion, we need to go pick up Ferrell. Can’t have too many pass rushers.

  5. Pewter Pirate Says:

Good to see Izien not going on PUP or IR. Need that depth at safety

  6. Jeebs the Honey Bear Says:

I don’t see how we go into a game with only 7 linemen (Wirfs being out). My guess is Kam Johnson, Josh Hayes, or Rashad Wisdom gets cut so we can add an OL before week 1.

  7. geno711 Says:

Short on one offensive lineman. Got to think, we will be picking up someone this week.

The two reserves seem very weak to me as well. More so than the depth of ILB.

  8. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

I was a little worried the Bucs would cut TE Devin Culp. He show good separation as a TE but had slippery hands.

  9. buc4evr Says:

Need to add to D line and O line. ILB could be an issue as could OLB due to drop off of talent after second string. Still don’t think the Bucs did enough on defense this season.

  10. miken Says:

klien stinks and I hope meriweather and hayes don’t see the field. I am still hopeful to pluke a vet via trade for depth. I think we are on the fragile side in that if we don’t stay healthy, we are in trouble.

  11. LakelandBuc Says:

The way this O-Line way dominated by the Steelers backups
I can’t predict a win in Mercedes -Benz dome

  12. BucsFan81 Says:

Glad to see Josh Williams made it. Dude looked really good in pre season

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    MaybevCarl Nicks’ toe has healed.

  14. Lt. Dan Says:

Jeebs: Agreed, 7 linemen is razor thin. I wouldn’t mind Kieft being cut to make room for another O lineman. An athletic lineman can always be a Kieft type of blocker.

  15. Scott Says:

    4 RBs ?? Wow

  16. geno711 Says:

Pretty sure we started last September with 9 OL. So, we are essentially down two.

    78 Tristan Wirfs
    68 Ben Bredeson
    62 Graham Barton
    69 Cody Mauch
    67 Luke Goedeke
    77 Justin Skule
    64 Royce Newman
    70 Robert Hainsey
    79 Elijah Klein

  17. StickinUp4Centers Says:

“we need to go pick up Ferrell. Can’t have too many pass rushers.”

Seems a stretch to call Ferrell a pass rusher. He has less sacks than JTS.

  18. Richard Says:

Why can’t you, or anyone else just give us the cut list? Pure, simple and easy

  19. Cho Says:

The only cut i really dislike was José Ramirez, not because I thought he should be on the roster, but because I wish we had truly developed him. Seemed like a good story with good potential who never really displayed his skills when it mattered.

  20. JBBUCS_06 Says:

Let’s see what PS makeup is regarding OL / DL. Believe they will stack that or go cuts from other teams. OLB looks thin. Need depth there too. Hopefully Nick Jackson gets on PS as well.

CG14 and TW78 injuries hurt. Hopefully they’re both back within first 3 (TW) – 6 (CG) games

  21. View from 132 Says:

How do you pick Kam Johnson over Greene? Just shows the preseason games are meaningless money grabs.

  22. BucforLife Says:

Too short on offensive lineman need another one instead of Hayes or Kam Johnson. Surprised Kam or Hayes made the roster tbh they both stink, must be real good on special teams though. Hope the injuries don’t pile up

  23. BucforLife Says:

    View from 132….
Agree Kam Johnson dropped everything thrown his way while Greene looked almost as good as Miller.

  24. Kenton Smith Says:

There will be changes. Offensive line will have more and 7 receivers, 4 RBs, and 4 TEs will change.

  25. mj Says:

doesn’t seem like a super bowl team does it? behind the starters is a big drop

  26. Mac Says:

To me keeping 4 rbs spells the end for White. They don’t want to risk losing Williams this season knowing White is gone if not this season the next undoubtedly.

They certainly need help on the O line. One injury and wow they are in some serious trouble. Same goes on the D line and with linebackers. Heck you can even say at d end if we lose our 2 starters. With our luck with injuries I’m not as hopeful this season as many others in here. I truly hope I eat crow with that statement too!

  27. MelvinJunior Says:

I don’t understand who the ‘emergency’ QB is going to be… I thought you got to keep a 54th now, due to the new rule!? So, who will that be!? I was really hoping for them to find ‘a way’ for Greene. I think he could be way more valuable than Kam Freakin’ Johnson. Hopefully, they can place him on the PS and be a little patient with him, and give him some time to develop. That JMac injury really EFFED-US. BAD. Forced them to have to push Chris back maybe, a lot harder. He should’ve never been on that field that night, to begin with. It was completely, pointless.

  28. Defense Rules Says:

Several huge surprises in there to me. Very surprised that on offense we kept Kameron Johnson instead of Palmer or Greene (glad we kept Miller though). Also surprised that we only kept 8 OLinemen (with Tristan still on the active 53), and also that we kept Ko Kieft (he’s added very little past 2 years).

Defense had several surprises too. Only keeping 5 DLinemen is shocking (we must be looking to pick up a 6th before the season starts). Keeping Josh Hayes vice Bryce Hall blows my mind (hope that Hayes never sees the field as a CB). And don’t understand the 5 Safeties thingie, with Wisdom being the 5th (our Safeties must be the shortest group in the NFL at 5’9″, 5’10”, 5’10”, 6’0″ & 5’9″). Whatever happened to thumpers like John Lynch (6’2″ & 220 lbs) or Rodney Harrison (6’1″ & 220 lbs)?

  29. VOT Says:

    7WR, 4 RB, 4 TE, 6 CB and 5 S – only 8 OL and 5 DL – one OT is out 2-3 weeks?

This can’t be the final mix – it’s not balanced very well at all and light where it matters most – the trenches

  30. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

4 RBs has got to mean a proper RB committee. I’m really looking forward to how Grizzard goes about calling his first game. Part of me is kind of hoping he goes run heavy, especially with the talent we have. How he goes about masking the difference in talent from replacing Wirfs with Heck.

Wanna see Culp & Durham more involved, especially the latter in redzone situations.

I like that Wisdom earns a spot and hoping we get Izien back asap.

Roster looks good, like everyone else I’m ready to see them perform at a high level and win same ball games.

  31. MelvinJunior Says:

Wow. 6 O-Linemen (with Wirfs out), and NO backup Center… SHEW!!!! The better hope and pray there isn’t a rush of injuries there, or it could be UgggggLY. I guess “Ko Kieft“ is that guy, then! It could be a real possibility, at some point, where they won’t even have enough O-Linemen to ‘finish-out’ a game with.

  32. MelvinJunior Says:

Oh. I didn’t see the BIG-OLE “8” there for the offensive-line, & must’ve miscounted by thinking there was 7 including Wirfs LoL. But, STILL.

  33. Fishhawkbuc Says:

Dean needs to walk the blank. I think he might have pictures on the head coach.

  34. Rod Munch Says:

Drop a couple of passes and a TD from Kyle, give Bowles some cover, and you make the team, hummm.

  35. MelvinJunior Says:

Haha I was REALLY panicking. Not nearly as much as what I bet THEY ARE tho! I guess they’re planning on getting Wirfs back ASAP, regardless.

  36. Que589 Says:

Braswell should be on the practice squad and allowed to develop. I don’t see him making an impact.

  37. Rod Munch Says:

BTW, who told me I was nuts for saying the Bucs would keep 7 WRs?

With that said, only keeping 8 offensive lineman is really low, I’m assuming Licht will sign a castoff, and probably Kameron gets cut – but he got a big thanks for Todd for dropping those passes and making Trask’s line look worse than it was.

Also, why was Nick Jackson cut again? The guy was the defensive MVP for the defense in preseason. Makes no sense to me as he showed something – much more than anyone else.

Finally, Wisdom made the team? I absolutely did not like what I saw from him and I’m shocked he’s on the regular roster. Not rooting against him, but I didn’t see an NFL player in the preseason – I thought Sanders looked better out of the two, but thought both were probably practice squad material, not NFL material.

  38. Matt Says:

The people complaining about offensive lineman dont understand how game day rosters work. 7 Oline men are generally active (maybe 8) during a game. Can keep a couple on practice squad to call up if needed. Seems they did this to keep 4 RBs or the extra safety who were more likely to get stolen by another team from the practice squad

    ———–

Absolutely no one was stealing Josh Williams. Watch other preseason games, literally every team has a rookie RB who looks good, who they all think should make the team, and who almost always get cut and sent to the PS, no one ever picks them off other teams unless they did something exceptional, and Williams didn’t do anything impressive in the preseason. Not dissing Williams at all, and I like what I see, but just stating the fact he didn’t do anything to get on anyone’s radar.

  40. Bucs Guy Says:

Worried about OL. Only have 7 now until Wirfs returns. Very worried about ILB. I know we have no depth there, but we cut short to only 4 last year and saw that was a mistake. I can’t believe we’re doing it again given how much Sirvocea gets hurt.

  41. BakerFan Says:

Who is the back up center?

  42. BuccinBaker6, Says:

I wanted Bryce Hall to make the Squad like especially with Morrison hurt still hopefully he comes back on the PS

  43. Bucs Guy Says:

Anxious to see the practice squad

Who is the back up center?

    ———-

Klein was the backup center in all the preseason games, with Majors 3rd on the list.

Personally, I didn’t think Klein looked good in that role, but he did seem to improve a bit – and I have no issues with trying him out there, but Majors, with a lot more experience, looked a lot more natural there and I’m a bit shocked they let him go as I thought he looked pretty good (although against very low competition). Still, Majors will be signed to the PS I’d assume and it wouldn’t doubt me if he gets called up. Also, with only 8 offensive lineman, no way that Licht isn’t going to try to bring in someone who gets waived, I’d be if they go into week 1 with only 7 healthy lineman.

  45. Dewey Selmon Says:

Going to suck if Egbuka switches to #2 now and a bunch of people have #9 jerseys.

  46. unbelievable Says:

I still can’t believe they kept Hayes over Hall at cornerback… Everyone else pretty much makes sense, though I thought Greene played better than Kam Johnson at WR…

  47. Dewey Selmon Says:

Hall and Greens didn’t make the cut because they are not as good on special teams.

    ———

From what I’ve read/heard – Hayes is seen purely as a special teams guy who can’t cover. I’m not sure how many special teams guys we need, but basically think of him as a modern Ryan Smith.

  49. Fred Says:

We have a good team. Go Bucs!

  50. Bill in Seminole Says:

Won’t there be a QB on the practice squad? Guess Trask is not that guy…bu then who is? PS…Tommy Cutlets waived this week.

  51. alldaway Says:

Special teams is an emphasis which is why you see so many LBs and WRs.

  52. BucsfaninOregon Says:

I know nothing about internal machinations of the Buc front office BUT, this defense showed me little improvement over last year. OL constantly had Trask on the run. Something(s) need to happen in next two weeks of I think we win the south maybe, and one and done in the playoffs. Same problem as last year. Reddick better be ready to rescue this team. I don’t know if he is.

  53. jcscycles Says:

Most of the cuts wind up on the practice squad. Won’t know who’s on it for a few days.

  54. MelvinJunior Says:

Yeah, I agree with that, Rod. That’s what I was thinking about with just ‘running backs’ in general (every team, the league’s full of them), and concerning a few of the players we kept (our ‘bubble’ players)… Yeah, I don’t really see anyone jumping at the chance to steal ANY of ‘these guys’ in question. And, that’s the whole thing about O-Linemen… There is always at least a few of them banged-up constantly, and a lot of times, are already pushing it, even being out there in the first place. And, all it takes is for someone to reaggravate something, and then another one or two gets rolled-up on & then you’re in real trouble. You see it happen all the time. Teams already runnin’ a little thin at that position going into a game and then BAMMM… Two or three guys go down throughout the course of the game and you’re screwed. I’m not a fan of this roster. These draft-picks are suddenly, looking pretty weak. We’ll see what happens, but I am not feeling great. And, I have close to ZERO confidence in Morrison contributing very much of anything this season. Maybe, never. Would not be shocking.

  55. GoneGator Says:

We’ve seen VERY little action from our starting units to go off of. Mostly reports from Joe @ practices.

Preseason games were too mixed and matched personnel wise, and too basic/vanilla to really have any idea what we’re going to look like against Atlanta and beyond.

    More will be revealed 🙏🏼🤞🏼

  56. MelvinJunior Says:

These players do not seem to be developing. Hopefully, Kancey and the rest of these guys can really turn it up a notch and show something a lot different when the real games begin. How much faith do we have in Baker cutting down on the turnovers this season… Idk!? There are definitely a bunch of ???’s right now, with Bowles being #1 for me.

  57. Aqualung Says:

    Spam Johnson, LOL. Fraud.

Kind of like his double half and half coich.

  58. Woodman Says:

Rod if you are 4th, 5th, 6th at your position on the team you dam well better be able to play special teams. IE Josh Hayes professional special teams player every team has a couple and that is what they do. They only play position in emergency.

  59. gotbbucs Says:

    @Defense Rules
“Whatever happened to thumpers like John Lynch (6’2″ & 220 lbs) or Rodney Harrison (6’1″ & 220 lbs)?”

The NFL fined that type of Safety right out of the league. We were all so happy when they signed Dashon Goldson that one offseason, and then the NFL basically castrated that type of Safety with penalties and fines that very season.

  60. Josh Freeman Fan Says:

Joe, where do you sense the team is at with Logan Hall? Last year of rookie deal and haven’t heard his name more than 5 times in the last 3 years.

  61. Rod Munch Says:

MelvinJunior – Well I think Licht will add another offensive lineman, he’s just looking at who got cut. So we will likely still see a cut at RB or WR or perhaps S. No one is taking Kam, or Williams or Wisdom and putting them on their roster, so those are the guys most likely to still end up getting cut before opening day. Additionally they’ll sign a bunch of guys to the practice squad who can be called up if needed. I’m not too worried about the depth as of day – lets see where we are in a day or two.

  62. Roy Says:

Sorry but bridgewater was on a sofa. Totally bad decision to bring in a has been. Keep the young Trask. OL a problem as others stated. Not liking Bowels. Uf we get in playoffs and lose first game he needs to go. Yea attack if you want but facts are facts.

  63. orlbucfan Says:

Knew Egbuka was a lock. Glad to see Parrish and Tez. And a decent punter. I hope Special Teams will look better this year. Let the season begin.

  64. infomeplease Says:

Time to focus on Atlanta!! Game plan and execution time! Focus on the details! LFG!!

  65. LakelandBuc Says:

This is not a Super Bowl roster

This roster, with it clueless HC, will struggle to win 10 games
This is my honest opinion as a Bucs fan

  66. Jayson Lite Says:

    Hey Joe,

How about an article listing 5 players just cut by other teams that might help solidify this roster?

  67. LakelandBuc Says:

The only bright thing about this roster
They should have a top ranked special teams

This exactly what this roster is made of
A roster of special team players
I don’t see players that’s good at their position

  68. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

LakelandBuc, that crow can taste good if cooked properly.

  69. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

“I don’t see players that’s good at their position”

The you are not watching the games, buddy. For one, we have Mike Evans…the best WR we’ve ever had. He proves you wrong right there.

  70. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    MelvinJunior Says
“These players do not seem to be developing.”

    That’s bull.

Case in point…the oline developed into one of the best…very quickly. Our running backs have also developed. We have plenty of development in all areas except quarterback. This staff doesn’t develop QBs at all. That’s hwy we needed a veteran.

  71. FrontFour Says:

Heavy on offensive skilled positions. Light in the trenches. Guessing more changes are coming before the final 53 are set.

  72. BucsFan81 Says:

I don’t think they should have got rid of Trey Palmer for Kameron Johnson who couldn’t catch a ball all pre season.

  73. Jayson Lite Says:

    Joes and Sage,

    Need some wisdom here …..

Please identify the 3 weakest spots on the roster (e.g. which players and positions need to be upgraded the most) and do you see anyone on the recently cut list who might address those needs?

  74. geno711 Says:

BucsFan81 — Palmer caught only 1 pass this preseason. So less than Kam Johnson. Johnson looked pretty darn good on Special teams as well.

  75. Joe Says:

Please identify the 3 weakest spots on the roster

    Inside linebacker depth
    Offensive line depth
    *Edge rush

*Edge rush will never be solved unless the head coach begins to value the second-most important position on an NFL team.

  76. Joe Says:

How about an article listing 5 players just cut by other teams that might help solidify this roster?

That’s a ton of research for dudes who are looking for work.

  77. MelvinJunior Says:

“Buccaneer Bonzai” – I was speaking more about the defense… lots of guys we’ve drafted over the last five drafts are either already long gone or not contributing very much that I have yet to see… We’ll know more about Kancey and Yaya, by the end of the season.

  78. Joe Says:

Joe, where do you sense the team is at with Logan Hall? Last year of rookie deal and haven’t heard his name more than 5 times in the last 3 years.

Logan Hall had an under-the-radar nice year last year. Team is happy with him.

  79. Jmarkbuc Says:

  80. RBUC Says:

Is it really the head coach holding up the edge rush being solidified OR is it the GM isn’t ready to spend big money on that position? I think the later

  81. Hodad Says:

Kam Johnson? The best way to make the club is by staying in the tub. Greene can actually catch the ball, shouldn’t that count for something? Both UDFA centers out played Klien. He’s a servicable guard, but sucked at center. I don’t get this 53.

  82. TiredBucsFan Says:

K Johnson is terrible. Greene should have that spot

  83. Alanbucsfan Says:

Chukwuma and Bullock are great stories

  84. Call JL Says:

OLB is keeping us out of the NFC championship game.

  85. Jarrett Says:

    yo Joe

53 man looking pretty decent overall.

two biggest names that are new

    Egbuka and Reddick

expecting a big year from hassan reddick

  86. D-Rome Says:

    Go Bucs!

  87. adam from ny Says:

last guys listed in their respective rooms are hanging by a thread…..or a spider web strand…

changes coming as head shake loose from the other’s caboose

  88. adam from ny Says:

def need to add about 3 pieces…

    maybe even upwards of 5

  89. Jeff Says:

    Desperate for another edge rusher

  90. Tim Says:

We need one more oline men. Dan Skipper would be
Great pick up. Go get him. He is a big swing takle.

  91. BucHead Says:

No real surprises. They narrowed down to the right 53. I’m sure a few tweaks will come, like re-signing AB and such.

  92. Inwoodjeremy Says:

Adding EE and Tez to the offense is nice, but losing Wirfs and Godwin doesn’t make any gain from last year until they get back. Reddick and Parrish is nice but the defense needs more juice. Banking on Brasewell, Dennis to stay healthy, a rookie corner, and Reddick to return to form is a little much to say the defense improved for a deep run. Need a beast of a DL, LB, and everybody else including Dean to stay healthy.

  93. Yall don't get it Says:

So…. who’s the backup NT just wondering.

  94. Saskbucs Says:

If we suffer a bunch of injuries again, our special teams better be flipping fields every chance they get!

All this emphasis on special teams and I haven’t seen anything special in the last couple years. Guess we haven’t been getting returned on deep but cripes… tackling a punt or kick returner should be the bare minimum requirement for being an NFL athlete.

  95. Rod Munch Says:

Keep in mind the Bucs don’t want to guarantee vet deals for guys are borderline – and if they’re on the opening day roster, their contracts for the year are guaranteed. I assume we’ll be bringing back multiple guys, like perhaps Anthony Walker, Sua Opeta, maybe Bryce Hall. Also they might end up on the practice squad, the Bucs can have 6 veterans on it, in addition to the normal 10 slots.

With that said, I assume Licht is really wanting to add an offensive lineman from outside, so we’ll see what the Bucs do. Check back in a couple of days and we’ll have a better idea of the real opening day roster.

  96. Ben Says:

Dont like the decision to move on from bryce hall. He is needed depth. Cbs ALWAYS go down and Josh Hayes blows. They kept vildor for teams should have kept Hall over Hayes.

Not sure why kieft is still around. You cant teach a faster linebacker who’s job is to tackle to play teams in Nick Jackson?

  97. Ben Says:

Depth on defense is razor thin. Got bums like Jayes still around, when all.of over Cbs are banged up as usual, we will want Hall over Hayes. Just stupid keeping Hayes and Kieft at this point. Dont tell me because of teams, I refuse to believe you cant teach a good player to play teams. Greene should have made it over c johnson, guy is always injured and drops everything. Jackson should habe made tbe team over kieft. Similar athlete for teams but jackson is better and faster, plus helps depth at ILB

  98. chark Says:

just read godwin passed a physical today..great news if true!

  99. Jmarkbuc Says:

My PS (from our own cuts)

    Garrett Greene
    Nick Jackson
    Bazelak (or some QB)
    Warren Peeples
    Raiqwon O’Neal
    Larry Haggard
Jake Majors ( not sure what happened to him, thought he was an iron man)??
    Bryce Hall
How did Anthony Walker never even practice?
Lorenz Metz ( freebie, roster exemption)
    Dennis Houston
Josh Williams may end up here, too.

That’s a start, and some could end up on IR (?).

    Shhh!

    Don’t tell anyone!

The secret plan for the offense is to line up the RBS four wide!

I have a bad feeling about Benjamin Morrison. God help us if we screwed the pooch with another 2nd round pick.

Majors and Hall are the ones I am thinking should have made the team over Wisdom and K. Johnson.

@Rod – that’s a good point about Hayes. I haven’t noticed him speeding down the field the way Smith used to though… but I also haven’t watched preseason quite as a closely this year.

  105. Newbie Says:

Bucs are more than solid in starters and are above average or have one of the top units in NFL at several positions. But it’s a long season, injuries happen and what’s gonna kill this team is depth at certain positions – OL and ILB in particular. No way I see this being the final roster. If I were JL I would look to move Jamal Dean and R White to address position areas where we need to either get an upgrade or provide depth. I love White and his role with this team but Tucker is a better runner and I just dont see Bucs/White agreeing on a 2nd contract. Dont even get me started on Dean. Dump his salary and use that money elsewhere. I am sure JL will find someone else’s trash (in roster cuts) and hope it becomes a Bucs treasure.

Trying to remember when Majors got injured.

Also wondering if Morrison injury is actually hamstrings.

Looks like the special teams will be improved and the defense maybe slightly improved.

Those doubting the wisdom of roster making by Jason Licht obviously don’t know how practice squad game day elevations work and need to consider a commentary on another sport.
