Kameron Johnson Dodges “The Turk?”

August 26th, 2025

Roster talk.

Some final remnants of the initial 53-man Bucs roster were unearthed earlier today. Buckle up.

In a media availability at One Palace, Bucs coach Todd Bowles mentioned LB John Bullock, WR Ryan Miller and OLB Markees Watts made the team, largely on their ability to play special teams.

Bowles also mentioned that the team may keep seven receivers. Currently, there seem to be only seven on the roster.

So, just doing a little math, that would seem to indicate receiver Kameron Johnson makes the team, at least the initial 53. And Johnson was at practice today.

This surprises Joe because from what Joe has seen of Johnson, his best abilities appear to be getting hurt and dropping passes.

I was sure Kam was going to get cut after the Bills game. All he did was drop passes. Greene and Palmer were better. lol.

  2. Chris O Says:

How do you keep him over Trey Palmer? That’s ridiculous

  3. BucforLife Says:

Kam Johnson don’t deserve a spot he hasn’t shown anything impressive or has been durable to be serviceable.

  4. Bradinator Says:

Yeah he had a case of the “drops” the other night for sure. Maybe just lack of practice time? He had a good return though. Cuts ain’t over yet though.

  5. infomeplease Says:

KJ got in because of special teams. This Buffalo pre season game he had a kickoff return of 57 yds and 2 punt returns with an ave of 13.5 yds.. And he was 2 for 5 in receiving for 34 yds.

  6. CyberDilemma Says:

He is protecting the receivers for now to keep Coen and Canales from swooping in. He can stash his defensive backups on the practice squad for the time being without fear of them taking them.

Did everyone goto the bathroom for his punt return? People were willing to crown Tez for a +30 yard return, Cam took one for 57 yards. Caught 2 passes for 34 yards too.

  8. Jmarkbuc Says:

    He also mentioned Josh Williams

  9. Dewey Selmon Says:

    Any word on Josh Williams?

  10. David Says:

Deserved over Palmer, but not sure if it was deserved over Greene

  11. TRBinCLE Says:

This week will be a good indicator of our roster quality. How many of our cast-offs are picked up by other teams?

  12. Jmarkbuc Says:

Dewey.. in the presser it sure sounded like JW was a keeper..

  13. Tony Says:

I’ve always said the dude has the talent but they just need to use him more.

  14. Erik with Pilot and Driver™ Says:

If Greene didn’t make the team, that is ridiculous.

Joe says, “from what Joe has seen of Johnson, his best abilities appear to be getting hurt and dropping passes.” OUCH! That seems a little harsh, even if true.
He’ll probably get axed once final rejects from other teams hit the wire.

  16. Buckit Says:

Seems like Kam made the roster to return punts. I really thought/hoped that Greene was going to be that guy. At any rate, I am wondering if they don’t want Tez back there. Greene should make it back to the PS, if not scooped up by another team.

Probably a good thing that Bucs players don’t read this blog, I can imagine the joy they’d feel at confronting the writers face to face.

  18. Rod Munch Says:

Pretty simple, Kameron did his job making Trask look bad in his final game, dropping multiple passes including a TD, so Bowles rewarded him for doing as he was instructed.

This one is a little bit of a head scratcher.

  20. Scotty Mack Says:

Doesn’t really matter. The Bucs clearly have holes to fill on the offensive line and the first one out the door to make room for another lineman will be Kam Johnson.

  21. Aqualung Says:

LOL. Spam Johnson. He’ll be a Buc for a few more days. Dude makes Kenny Bell seem like Paul Warfield.

Yeah, I think that is the most likely outcome. Would be shocked if Kam is on the opening day roster. He did have a nice return vs the Bills, but watch the game, so did everyone else – seems like the Bills coverage was terrible that night.

  23. Hodad Says:

Joe, what you said about Kam Being good at dropping passes, and being injured was pretty funny. Unfortunetly the jokes on us, because it’s so true. Best way to make the club, is by staying in the tub!

Maybe they’ll replace bowls with Bridgewater next year?
    Karma’s a bitch toilet bowls!
