Betting The Bucs: The Chris Godwin Over/Under Yards

August 25th, 2025

So last year Joe experimented on game days with a Betting The Bucs feature and it will be back this year in a slightly different form.

Yes, Bucs fans wager on games. It’s legal in Florida and it’s growing via the Hard Rock Bet platform/monopoly. Team Glazer recently and graciously accepted a fat check to promote it.

For those wondering, the Bucs remain the NFC South favorite, slightly over Atlanta. The Bucs’ over/under wins total sits at 9.5. Joe’s flash poll right here last week showed more than 70 percent of fans believe the Bucs will win 11 or more games. Currently, that’s a locked wager at Hard Rock.

The lock is somewhat common this time of year and it applies to many teams. The lock should be removed after 53-man rosters are finalized.

One Bucs-related futures wager sticking in Joe’s brain is total receiving yards this season for Chris Godwin. The over/under is 725.5.

The “under” odds are at -145, which means a winning $20.00 bet would return a total of $33.79.

Man, Joe stares at that and can’t stop thinking, “Godwin hitting 725 yards would feel like a miracle.”

It’s rather obvious Godwin won’t be at his premium best all season, in addition to missing at least four games. Plus, he’s teed up to be the Bucs’ No. 3 receiver with the rise of Emeka Egbuka, and the Bucs will have at least a tiny bit of extra focus on getting Mike Evans his 1,000 yards before Week 18.

No, Joe hasn’t pulled the trigger on this. But it’s getting hard not to, even though it’s essentially betting against a Bucs icon.

    That’s a easy under

  2. LakelandBuc Says:

I gotta go with the Under

He’s too old and beaten up to last long in the slot
I really believe Egbuka is the best Slot Receiver we have

And he’s not a great outside WR,
He’s going back to the slot, when he returns
He may survive 4-5 games, before getting injured agi

  3. Cybersecurity_intern Says:

How many did Joe got right last year?
Great question, Joe was about 47 percent on these pages. Unfortunately, Joe is more of an in-game wagerer (and more successful in that realm) and that’s not something that realistically can be shared here on the website. Joe’s also a strong daily fantasy player. Nowhere near as strong in league play, which takes a lot more work. –Joe

  4. Kenton Smith Says:

Easy. Bet the Bucs over 9.5. And bet against Godwin at your own peril.

  5. Bucs4Ever Says:

Sad we only have a single betting platform here in FL.

    Thanks swampmess in Tally

  6. buc4evr Says:

No more over under on Desmond playing this year. He has been cut, no NFI, just waived.

  7. Ricki Says:

Joe, can you do sunday morning podcast for the daily fantasy?

Nahh, but Joe has thought of posting a lineup screenshot on the website. Not a bad idea.–Joe

  8. LakelandBuc Says:

    buc4evr,
That’s the best news he could receive
He won’t be able to afford the junk food now

He ate himself out of a million dollar contract

This time next season, he might be weighing less than Tez

  9. Bucs97 Says:

    Trask released

  10. CyberDilemma Says:

    Kyle Trask cut.

  11. Pmike Says:

Yep Trask has been cut. And of an era lol

  12. TheScourge Says:

Under. I hate to say it, but I wouldn’t be that surprised if he misses the entire season.

  13. Slacker Says:

Under, and a horrible business decision with his contract.

  14. Tom Edrington Says:

    The House Always Wins!

  15. buc4evr Says:

Trask is gone. New raiders backup?

  16. buc4evr Says:

Some team like the Panthers or Browns will probably pick up Desmond. Hope he doesn’t have a heart attack.

  17. Orange Republic Says:

I’ve been considering it, but that -145 is hard to swallow. Lots of action on the under. Over of Mayfield TDs is easier to swallow at 29.5 -105 if you think Egbuka is ready.

  18. Jeff Says:

99 yards and 1 TD. Plays 4 games and gets hurt again.

  19. Kidfloflo Says:

Joe love the betting articles last year! Keep it going this year, it was fun to see what we’re all thinking…and speaking of locks this year…im pounding Ebuka’s over total TDs at 3.5!! Hell he might eclipse this by the time Godwin gets back

  20. GoneGator Says:

    @lakeland
Damn man, what did Watson do to you, to rate that kind of cold hearted comment ?

  21. Rod Munch Says:

Me, I’d set that O/U at 600 yards… I certainly take the under in this case. Nothing against Godwin, I just think they’ll bring him along slow, and by the end of the year when they need him, he’ll hopefully be at full speed.

  22. BigPoppaBuc Says:

We’re all making assumptions about Godwin. They have kept it so tight lipped. He’s not going on the pup list. i think he’s coming back sooner than later and I think he’s gonna ball. I just can’t bet against CG14. The dude has been tough as nails while taking some unfortunate shots. He proved me wrong last year when he was basically the most productive receiver in the league. He’s always given everything he’s got to this team and I have no reason to expect that to change.

  23. Zman Says:

Easy under. I never liked the resigning of CG.

  24. Bucnjim Says:

Everyone on the under, I’ll take the over. That’s how it works! Go against the masses and you’ll probably win more than you lose. Vegas really likes to sucker fans in and take their money.

  25. Jeffrey Becker Says:

    injundery
