Are The Bucs “Culpable” In The Jalen McMillan Injury?

August 20th, 2025

Wrong move?

Evan Closky of WTSP-TV Channel 10 isn’t the first person Joe has heard asking aloud why the Bucs had quarterback Teddy Bridgewater running the first team offense Saturday night in Pittsburgh in the Bucs’ second worthless preseason game.

The thought process is Bridgewater was too rusty and didn’t have a rapport with his new receivers and as a result, in theory, he threw a bad pass targeting McMillan that set the second-year receiver up to get hurt.

For Joe, that’s a whole lot of dot connecting.

You can see how Closky lays it out in the video below, how the Bucs could be “culpable” in McMillan’s injury. Joe cannot go there.

The reason Bridgewater played in the first place is because either AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht, head coach Todd Bowles or offensive coordinator Josh Grizzard — or all three — lost faith in Kyle Trask, previously Mayfield’s backup.

One reason Trask has fallen out of favor is that he’s had a bad training camp (Joe has heard this through the grapevine). Certainly, Trask is inconsistent. He may have two good practices and then in his third practice he will fall apart.

In five training camps — (Joe has maybe missed three practices total in those five summers) — Joe can’t recall Trask having three straight good practices.

Trask has been consistently inconsistent.

The way Trask has practiced this summer, he just as easily could have thrown a pass that could have gotten McMillan hurt, just as Bridgewater did.

Joe cannot blame this on Bridgewater. It’s not like he has awful accuracy. Did his touchdown pass to Emeka Egbuka look terrible to you?

Besides, Bridgewater has been around the block. Started in playoff games. He’s not Trask, who has a grand total of 11 pass attempts in his career. Bridgewater has 2,067 attempts to his name.

If people want to try to blame anyone or any thing on McMillan’s injury (should Steelers camp meat corner Daryl Porter be forgiven for undercutting McMillan?) other than it being a freak football injury, how about blaming the NFL itself for even having these worthless games!

The only things these friggin’ preseason games are good for are getting good players hurt. McMillan is just the latest example.

Nothing like having a team’s Super Bowl hopes dented in August, and for what?

  1. Kenton Smith Says:

My first takeaway is I’m not a big Evan Closky fan. Never seen him before and I really don’t know but at present he’s not my cup of tea. Like to kick him in the teabag though after that lousy presentation.

  2. First Last Says:

It was a hospital pass, but a more season player would have let it fly. Also, it doesn’t help that the defender hit him in such a way that it put him on his neck. It would have been better if the defender latched on and carry him. He may have had a bruised rib or the air knocked out but better than almost dying. Though I cannot remember the play exactly and I’ve repressed it because it looked so bad

  3. geno711 Says:

I’ve never been a Bridgewater fan—but this idea he’s some kind of wide receiver hitman? Gimme a break.

Yes, that particular throw was high, and the awkward tackle led to McMillan’s injury.

But show me the long list of wideouts Teddy’s supposedly crippled. You can’t—because it doesn’t exist.

  4. SB~LV Says:

    No !
A very unfortunate situation that is prime for second guessing.

  5. Famu_Rattler Says:

You want to blame someone. blame the player that undercut McMillian’s legs while he was in a defenseless position. Taking the legs out from under a play up that high should have been a penalty but was not called, and should be outlawed by the NFL rules committee. That player should have rapt his arms around McMillan and taken him to the ground.

  6. Pewter Pirate Says:

Cannot blame this on Teddy. He would not be the first QB, including HOF QBs who have thrown to high. I am not the biggest fan of Teddy simply because as a starter he is consistently inconsistent. Unfortunately, if Trask is not doing it for the Bucs, Teddy is probably the next best thing out there on the market. Whomever is number 2, this team is in trouble without Baker.

  7. Permanently Moderated Says:

Would it be better if he was injured in the first regular game? What about the guys injured in practice? Maybe there shouldn’t be any practice, so no one gets hurt. Injuries happen in football.

  8. heyjude Says:

This is crazy now. No one is to blame Gee whiz, in agreement, blame the NFL too for these preseason games. Why are they all over Bowles and Bridgewater? Many others get hurt while making plays too.

Famu_Rattler – Full agree. If they want to blame someone, blame Porter. He was the one that made him flip over. Where was that penalty!

  9. Christos Says:

There will always be a debate if you must play starters in preseason games to get in football shape or not play them so no injuries happen.
I dont think there is a right or worng answer.
Yes the pass was high but the injury happened mostly because of the defender.
When you are this high in the air even a small push in the back will cause you to land with no balance let alone when someone takes your legs away.
It happend and its unfortunate because we starting to have enough injuries and the season has not started yet.
    Go Bucs

  10. Larry Says:

Kyle Trask ….11 pass attempts? He’s “earned” about $500k per attempt! Not a bad way to become a mutimillionaire!

  11. Lt. Dan Says:

Lt Dan always tries to be a glass half full guy. At least McMillan didn’t blow out a knee and have his season officially end. He will be back with fresh legs and a chip on his shoulder in time for the play off push. In the mean time, based on what I have seen from Sterling Shepard this summer, he is still a very capable number two or three WR.

As for the “worthless preseason”. I’d wager that the preseason is super important for rookie play caller Josh Grizzard and more than a few bubble players on the roster.

  12. Durango 95 Says:

Suddenly the team discovers that Trask is not good enough. This is after nearly five years and a new contract. In a panic move they sign a guy past his prime and right off the street have him start in about two weeks. Absolute idiocy.

  13. JA Says:

Guys walk in off the street and start for QB injured teams, yet Bowles will never play Trask under any condition, including blowouts where the outcome doesn’t matter. That’s a sign of bad coaching or a personal disdain for the player.
Trask had a good preseason game 1, but a poor outing in game 2.
But how would you feel if you played well one week and your coach brings a guy off the street to start with the first string—something you’ve been given the opportunity to do for 5 years!
Bottom line is Trask never even gets a chance. Who wouldn’t get tired of practicing for five years with zero chance to play? Truthfully, I don’t know why they even resigned him this year if Bowles thinks he’s so terrible.
And Trask? I would have walked and signed elsewhere. At least other teams give their backups a chance to play in a real game from time to time.
Trask should seek his immediate release and play for another coach. He could start by picking one who knows how to tell time and doesn’t quit in a playoff game when there’s a miracle chance to win. Pick a team where a coach never gives up!
Yeah, I’m a Bucs fan and I’m stuck with Bowles, so I will cheer him and the team on no matter what. But none of you here will ever convince me Bowles has the chutzpah to take this team to the promised land.
JBF Moron #1 and deep thinker: Trask sucks!
Then why did they resign him? And if he truly does suck, we’ll never find out here.

  14. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“It was a hospital pass, but a more season player would have let it fly. Also, it doesn’t help that the defender hit him in such a way that it put him on his neck.”

A hospital ball is when a QB leads a WR into oncoming defenders, not when a guys has his man beat off the release and contact is made from behind. Just watch Baker, you’ll see the difference.

  15. First Last Says:

Joe, I think it is time that we start looking at some UFL players if we don’t think our players can do the job. There are guys out there that were playing meaningful snaps this Spring and are itching to get back into the NFL.

  16. Joe in Michigan Says:

I know Rod Munch is new to this football thing, but guys sometimes get injured playing football.

  17. Destinjohnny Says:

U can put whatever spin on it you want
    Teddys pass got him hurt

  18. Usedtocould Says:

What a big J journalist. Posting from his Hyundai. SMH

  19. Rastaferian Jenkins Says:

Yes, yes, they are culpable. Preseason is stupid snd risky. Let Teddy and Trask get their reps with camp meat. Dumb decisions have, and continue to lead us into long term injuries. I wanted to puke when I saw bucky out there. What does he have to prove?

  20. 74 Bucs Fan Says:

Football players get hurt playing football. Who is to blame? I say it’s the football’s fault.

  21. David Says:

Definitely a bad throw by Teddy and he is getting way more praise than he deserves, Trask was actually better in week 1.
To say the Buccaneers should never have had him on the field, though, is ridiculous.

  22. Jeffrey Becker Says:

nah, lance alworth used to say (he was the master of timing jumps and beating defenders to high passes, which he preferred) it was much safer to go up high and reel in a high pass than risk getting twisted in tackling traffic. he wanted the ball exactly where TB Silver threw it to J Mac.

  23. Stallworth Says:

Whomever decided to play Bridgewater with the first team is 100% culpable in this injury. Bridgewater has had like 10 practices with the team since he got here. He did not play in 2024 at all and the last meaningful game he played was in 2022. Are you telling me that Bridgewater has “practiced” so much better than Trask in 2 weeks that he deserved a shot with the ones over Trask who had a really good game with the twos in the first preseason game? I’m not saying Trask is a good QB and I really don’t care who our backup is. Bridgewater is old and rusty. He sailed a pass that got JMac hurt. The only QB that should be in there with the first team offense is Baker, period. If they chose to sit Baker than they should have sat everyone else on the 1st team as well.

  24. BakerFan Says:

For those of you that say Trask never gets a chance, his chances occur in practice the past 3 years and pre season games. Those NFL coaches know more than any of you keyboard coaches on who can play in the NFL. So you got to go with their decision on bringing in another QB because Bezelak sure is not the answer. As far as the injury, it is football and injuries happen, it could be thrown and caught 10 more times and nothing happens, but timing on this one ended badly for McMillan.

  25. Fan of the South Says:

I wonder how well a team’s offense would be if they shuffled in QB’s every few plays?

Even when a QB comes off the bench for a injured guy it takes a while to get in rhythm.

You want more consistency then you need a more consistent system which is hard to get when players have negotiated to have half of their preseason practice sessions turned into pajama parties.

Trask would have been better off being picked in a later round and went to a team that has not been winning. Winning teams don’t usually throw a younger guy in even if their Daddy was a Marquise player. Luck of the draw.

There are reasons why Bridgewater is on his 7th team and was coaching High School Football. He is just not that good anymore. Little shady in the coaching department too apparently. Could Trask have gone 0-1 w/ N.O. in 2018, 4-11 w/ CAR in 2020 and 0-2 w/ MIA in 2022? Probably.

  26. Stevek Says:

    Get well, Jalen!

Let me see Trask rub with the #1’s.

I don’t care what he looks like at practice, he appears to be a steady gamer out there. He’s a solid backup, and better than Teddy. I’d love both on the roster if we have space. Teddy does bring experience, but Trask has more organizational experience and talent.

If we cut Trask, he’d be signed tomorrow. I agree with Rod Munch, Trask was not a desirable draft pick, but he relearned to throw and his better for it now. He’s good enough to be our backup. Also, the pass by Teddy was not good, but can’t blame him for an injury. I’d rather have Trask throwing to those guys anyways. I bet they’d seen more balls from him and have a better rapport. It’s strange to think that the organization doesn’t want to see more Trask? Maybe a weird way to motivate him. lol whatever works. Just kick some falcon butt in two weeks and all is well.

  27. Thomas Edrington Says:

That was a pure “F%ck-your-buddy” pass that Bridgewater threw to McMillan — skilled QBs won’t put their receiver in that position…..

  28. jimmy Says:

It wasnt a great pass by any means but anything can happen when you step on to the field. Questioning the choices the coaching staff make is correct though, they are to blame for bad choices of who they are playing or sitting during preseason. Thats why they get the big bucks, to make good decisions. Playing jmac, egbuka, bucky, even rashaad white, not good choices for preseason. If it isnt important enough to win by playing all starters, it isnt correct to risk their health, is it??

  29. Gipper Says:

Football is a dangerous game. Unfair to blame a high pass, low pass, or no pass when injuries occur. That’s just the way it is. The players know it and accept it as a part of their occupation. The second guessing provides a story for some. The fact is most players want to play. If you don’t want to see players hurt, keep them out of games and have AI football instead.

  30. DBS Says:

Falcons and Chargers players were laid out by Db’s last week. They weren’t skying for a ball. It is a rough games Defensive backs hit hard like ours should. Get over it Traskies. The coaches have seen all they need to see in 5 years. If Trask has his feelings hurt he does not belong in the NFL.

  31. El hefe Says:

Nothing against teddy but the pass to EE WAS BARELY IN THE RIGHT SPOT Irving had a better pass to him football is dangerous but you would hope tour team has your safety on he mind while throwing it to you in the middle of the field

  32. BucU Says:

The issue is not that the pass was high or low it’s that these starters shouldn’t be in these games at all. Combined how they handled the Tristan Wirfs injury and signing Godwin to a ridiculous contract when it appears he won’t be playing at all indefinitely is a complete organizational failure. We could’ve used that money to sign a player who’s ready to go TODAY. If you think we are making too much of a big deal over these decisions let’s check back after week 4 when we’re 1-3 or worse.

  33. Hodad Says:

Trask is having a bad camp. All the more reason to put him in with the starters, and see how he performs. If he sucks, cut bait already. It’s not like we don’t know what Teddy is, he has plenty of film, Trask does not. My guess is Bowles wanted Teddy in free agency instead of Trask and was over ruled by Licht. Now that Todd has his boy he’s going to give him every opportunity. God forbid Teddy would have to follow Trask with the 2s, and 3s. It’s a done deal with Todd. Teddy is our new backup QB. Todd got his guy.

  34. heyjude Says:

Hodad – Respectfully, Kyle has been on the team four years and has played with starters during preseason, trainings, and limited games. It’s time to see how Teddy does too. They are vying for the number one backup position.

Teddy has only been here a minute and he did well last weekend. Yes with starters to probably warm him up. I really like Kyle and have been rooting for him. He could still end up being the number one backup for Baker. We also have to think about what is best for the Bucs too.

  35. ATRAIN Says:

    “YES” 1000%

  36. Warren Brooks Lynch Says:

“The issue is not that the pass was high or low it’s that these starters shouldn’t be in these games at all.”

You don’t get to Carnegie Hall or Daytona w/o practice bruh

  37. buc4evr Says:

It’s football , players get hurt. I don’t blame Teddy one bit. That being said I like Porter as much as I liked his father back in the day. Both dirty nasty players. Should have been a penalty.

Jason should be on the phone to Amari’s agent right now as I bet neither Godwin or JMac are going to be back this year. And no Tez isn’t the answer, small, slow, with bad hands.

As far as Trask, he just doesn’t have it. UF fan and even with his two good years at UF, you could tell he wasn’t going to be an NFL starter. Then again UF never produced any real NFL star QB’s ( don’t say Grossman, he got to the SB on the Bear’s defense). Teddy is already #2, Trask will end up on the practice squad or inactive.

  38. Couch Fan Says:

Whether or not you believe in Trask is irrelevant. You dont hire a guy off the street who hasent played in over a year and immediately insert him into the starting spot. This is a ridiculously stupid thing to do and Super Todd did it and like usual the fan boys are gargling on his testies and giving him yet another pass on yet another ridiculous decision…

Yes, Injuries happen. Its part of the game. There are also precautions you can take to limit those injuries. Not playing people right off the street with your starters is one of those things to do. Now go head and keep making excuses for the ReTodd!

  39. ATRAIN Says:

    Why Yes???

Bowles took a guy off the street second week in WITH NO GAME TIME puts him in first team rotation and the WR gets hurt.

No Coach in their right mind does this.

    Dumb Dumb Dumb
    Horrible throw by Bridgewater
McMillian still try’s to make it happen and gets hurt.

    Bowles Fans will burn me
But Stupid is as Stupid does

  40. View from 132 Says:

We already have a UFL receiver, Jacob Harris. He should’ve been in there, and he’s big enough to grab that hospital pass without the hospital visit.

  41. Bucs4ever Says:

It was a bad pass. 100%. Dangerous pass. Trash sucks though.

He was probably 2/3 string. Shepherd is washed so this injury hurts.

Licht had no business signing trask or godwin again.

    That’s for another day

  42. Jake been there since the beginning Says:

Hey Joe, I just wanted to add my two cents lol. And I’m with you, Bridgewater is not at fault, I do believe that ball may have floated a little maybe.I don’t like to see recievers get tossed like that because of this right here tackle. McMillan could have caught his last pass and suffered a broken neck. Sorry but that’s pretty much true right? They took out the hip toss? tackle but a few different things can get messed up, ribs, bruised kidney, and lower back and even more probably. Let’s Go Bucs!!!! Eghuka I believe in you and the time for your light to shine is now¡!

  43. SlyPirate Says:

    BAD THROW > SURE
Teddy isn’t the best QB. He’s old and he was never that good. If you buy old plain bread, expect old plain bread.

    BAD HIT > ABSOLUTELY
Watch the play. It’s was a dirty hit … especially for preseason. The defender knew what he was doing by taking out Jmac’s legs. He aims a foot higher and its a safe hit and an incomplete pass. You don’t hit a guy like that in preseason.

  44. Hodad Says:

Teddy did well on two throws. He was 6- 11 for 85 yards, about 50 %, not great. Unfortunately Trask didn’t have the opportunity to throw to Bucky, EE, and J Mac behind the starting O line. I was actually hoping the Bucs would bring in some real competition for Trask this season. Pratt wasn’t it. Trey Lance would’ve been my choice, who’s looking good this preseason with LA. I am not a Trask fan, but I thought he should’ve started last game, to sink, or swim. Teddy is not a long term solution even as a backup. Doesn’t matter what I think, Teddy is Todd’s guy, he’s your new #2. Trask haters you got your wish. He’ll be gone next season, or sooner. Wouldn’t doubt they finally cut him.

  45. Kenton Smith Says:

Couch, as usual you post fake facts. Anyone reading this “hasn’t played in over a year” should know that Bridgewater played for the Lions against those lucky to be there Commanders 6 months ago. Couch, would you have us believe he wasn’t practicing with the team to be in that position? 2nd round of the playoffs and he played well. Couch, you can believe untruths, that’s what stupid people do. Most of these readers are smart though.

  46. Kenton Smith Says:

But if I was a betting man Couch, I’d bet you knew the truth and chose to discard it and make up “your” alternative truth. That’s what really stupid people do.

  47. Couch Fan Says:

Aww look at Kenton trying to be cute. 1 game of football where he is the back up of a different team that he never actually plays for is somehow relevant. And news flash Kenton. We signed him late last week. He’s had maybe 3 practices? Do you think that is good to throw in their with our starters?….

I think you should go back and research more Kenton before you call others stupid because YOU are the one sounding stupid right now gargling on the ReTodd’s testies. But I expect no less from these non-sensical fan boys.

  48. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I don’t care for Teddy at all. At least Trask stays healthy.

Of course Trask has bad practices…he works with 2nd team players.

  49. Kenton Smith Says:

Couch. So you’re saying I won the bet. That makes you really stupid then.

  50. Buc You Says:

“It’s not like he has awful accuracy. Did his touchdown pass to Emeka Egbuka look terrible to you?

Besides, Bridgewater has been around the block.”

This is exactly why people are blaming Bridgewater. There was no reason to throw a hospital ball in a preseason game. Regular season or playoffs and you gotta make something happen, understandable, take the risk you signed up for. But this is a “meaningless” preseason game, there was 0 upside to that play. Teddy’s experienced enough to know better and accurate enough not to do it. If this was a rookie who let the moment get away from him its more excusable.

  51. Durango 95 Says:

I don’t know if Trask was ever going to be a starter in the is league but I do know the way he’s been handled by this team would mess up many a mans’ head. That stunt they pulled on him last week was pure freakin’ garbage. Absolute bush league. You don’t re-sign a guy let him start then pull him the next week in favor of the new kid in town. I am lookin’ at you Bowles. But Bowles will never get called on it. The media in this town just lets him walk between the rain drops. As if butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth.

    ^^^^^^

You do realize Trask has been a 2nd or 3rd team player his whole career, right? So if you’re saying all backups are bad, Trask has been bad his whole career. Right?

  53. MelvinJunior Says:

I KNEW he was going to miss significant time, prob at least half the season, potentially the entire season… The neck/back is something you don’t mess with, so I figured they’d be extremely cautious with him moving forward. But, we are REAL LUCKY to have HIM. REMEMBER… We got HIM with ‘the pick’ that we received from Detroit in exchange for Carlton Davis. And, there is ‘no-way’ he’s still there late in the 3rd-Round to begin with, in order for us to take him. He would’ve been a ‘first-round’ pick no doubt about it had he not been ‘injured’ early on during his last season at Washington (leading up to the draft). Which, forced him to have to miss a bunch of games, and was therefore, never fully, completely ‘healthy’ even in the games he did play during his (junior) final season. HE was their BEST/Leading WR in a very LOADED WR-room, all during his soph season. And, going into that Junior season, HE was listed on several preseason ‘All-America’ lists, & etc. Just had some bad luck with a bad injury. It’s THE ONLY reason that Polk went ahead of him in the 2nd-Round, & he outplayed Odunze last season (when fully healthy)… JMac wasn’t even 💯 all the way back from his early-season injury, until about midway through last season.

  54. BayouBullet Says:

One is the textbook definition of what an NFL backup QB should be

The other is a textbook definition of an NFL bust

    Fan is short for fanatics

  55. August 1976 Buc Says:

Cowboys QB Danny White who took over when Roger Staubach retired at the end of 1979 season was known for throwing “Medicine balls” when throwing over the middle.

The pass Teddy threw reminded me of a “Danny White medicine ball” at the time of Mcmillan’s injury

Brady has talked a lot about where you throw the ball and trying best to protect your guys.

The game is always going to be a physically violent game no matter how many rules are instituted, but just being aware how you play QB is big.

  56. Esteban85 Says:

Jalen McMillan was put in danger when he strapped up his helmet and stepped on the field. This second guessing the coaching staff for starting Bridgewater is ridiculous! It could have easily been Mayfield that threw that pass, or Trask, and hell it could’ve been in practice. This is BS to say that injuries on the field are anyone’s fault. It is not the fault of anyone, this stuff happens, this is football and it’s the job of the other team to be as physical as possible and bring the pain.

  57. Tampa Bay-ker Says:

This is why you sit starters in preseason; it’s just not worth the risk, especially for veterans.

  58. ocala Says:

If you want the starting receivers out there then you put in your starting QB. Bucs coaching staff has some blame in the injury. In my opinion the season is too long to play any starter during a preseason game.

  59. HC Grover Says:

Just another Bowles Blunder. Simple as that. Bad decisions lead to bad outcomes. There will be many more. It is The Bowles Way.
Still we could easily Blunder our way in to winning the division again and getting to the playoffs.

  60. Leroy Miles Says:

The Bucs were definitely negligent! First, Kyle Trask has had a a training camp because the second offensive line is terrible! Bridgewater did not play well! Yes he threw two touchdowns, but he was off and he had a terrible throw to get McMillan!

  61. garro Says:

Nah thats a bunch of coulda woulda shoulda stuff. He needed snaps in a new ish offense and after all it’s not like he is a vetteran like Mike or Chris.

    Go Bucs!

  62. BucEmUp Says:

Considering trask has been here for years and hasn’t had a chance to run with the ones and teddy just gets thrown the keys is a complete joke

  63. MelvinJunior Says:

I don’t blame Bowles on this specifically (it was kind of a perfect storm), BUT there are lots of these types of things beginning to ‘add up’ where it can definitely be debated. And, that’s not good. JMac and Chris both, are WARRIORS. They both, play HARD and go ‘all-out’💯, at ALL times… They are both, FEARLESS. Sometimes, you have to be able to ‘protect’ players from THEMSELVES. Lots of pressure on Bowles to deliver THIS year. Or, things are going to ‘heat-up’ very quickly… ESPECIALLY, if Jacksonville looks ‘good’ and goes to The Playoffs (and the Bucs don’t). And, we’re NOT wanting to hear about “injuries” being an excuse from the FO, either. They KNOW THIS, but it still won’t stop them from trying to use it. It could get real ugly in a hurry.

  64. MelvinJunior Says:

I agree with that “BucEmUp.” I said the exact same thing as soon as I saw Teddy take the field. I was like, “WOW, they are just really ‘effin’ Trask over soooo HARD… Bowles MUST really hate him. This is pathetic. Add everything up (keeping Baker in games late, never giving him a shot even when Baker looked GOD-AWFUL under Canales, etc.), & it’s just laughable, at this point. It’s mind-blowing.” BUTTTTT… Thennnnn, Trask comes into the game and proceeds to absolutely, STINK. IT. UPPPP. LoL. Looked TERRIBLE. I wonder if he has been just mentally destroyed at this point, and that was just the final straw. The Bucs (and Bowles) just put the final nail in his coffin.

  65. MelvinJunior Says:

There ya go, “Durango95.” Just read your comment. My exact thoughts that night. It was shocking. Mind-blowing. A guy who has barely played any ‘meaningful’ football in YEARS, after coaching HS football for the entire prior season, up until just arriving in town only a couple of weeks ago, & barely having time to even UNPACK yet! I like Teddy (he should still be a Northwestern), BUT that was despicable. Trask was done soooo DIRTY. 💯

  66. Obvious Says:

Not having wirfs, JM or Chris is going to really sting. This defense needs to step up big time.

I wish they would just do joint practices with three or four teams every August and leave it at that. But nope – gotta get as many ppl as possible into the stadium to buy the 10 dollar beers.

It is not the fault of anyone, this stuff happens, this is football and it’s the job of the other team to be as physical as possible and bring the pain.

Exactly. The problem is, you can’t talk sense to some of these guys.

  68. Rod Munch Says:

When you throw a ball high over the middle, for literally for all of history (at least as far back as I remember), QBs are criticized for doing that and those passes have been labelled hospital balls. The reason for that, is because you’re not giving the receiver a chance to protect themselves. Receivers who don’t go after the ball in that situation will get criticized for having ‘alligator arms’ – so it goes both ways. Receivers don’t want that label and they put their safety into the hands of the QB – and when said QB comes in and throws 2 passes and sends someone to the IR, they deserve criticism. It’s not like this was pass 541 on the year.
