Rachaad White Injures Groin

August 9th, 2025

Painful moment in the first quarter of tonight’s rainy Bucs-Titans game. Rachaad White was seen on the sidelines writhing in agony and sort of punching at his upper groin.

White is considered a backup on the Bucs roster after Bucky Irving was named the clear No. 1 running back, and the backups are playing in this game. White took a carry and walked back strangely to the huddle. The next snap was a handoff to White and he struggled after a short gain.

The Bucs officially announced it was a groin injury.

Hopefully, this looked worse than it really is. Joe gets that somebody has to play in preseason, but damn, having White and Emeka Egbuka on the field gave Joe early indigestion. White had nine touchdowns last season.

I thought they brought in Owen Wright for the Preseason

  2. Tbbucs3 Says:

Bad decision by Bowles/Grizzard to start a proven vet on a wet field in a meaningless game

  3. Hunter Says:

I’m hoping for a groin cramp at most

  4. Hunter Says:

    ^ a sentence I never thought I’d say

  5. FortMyersDave Says:

It is not a Buccaneer preseason without a couple of starters/key contributors getting injured. Happens every ****ing year like clockwork. Hopefully it is nothing major and White is essential so that Bucky does not get worn out carrying the rock.

  6. firethecannons Says:

Agreed with Joe wtf are we doing??? At least we have Tucker!

  7. caveman Says:

    what are we doing here?!

  8. Creamsicle Says:

Egbuka, first round pick or not. Should rightfully so be on the field. Hes not on the initial starting list and should still prove his right to be on first team regardless of how well he did in camp. I mean titans are playing their number 1 pick. This is what preseason is about. Same goes with white? Why not? Injury’s come with football and there’s no reason white and egbuka should both be playing a preseason game.

  9. Creamsicle Says:

Should not be playing a preseason game*

White still has a lot to prove esp with Tucker right behind him play as well as he has. Where have you guys been the last 50 years this is what preseason is all about

  10. Creamsicle Says:

If we were losing because white/egbuka were not playing. You wouldn’t have indigestion but chronic diarrhea because we are losing to a team that was 4-12 last season

  11. Creamsicle Says:

And FYI. I love Rachaad but he in no means a “proven vet” he’s had three years in the nfl and started 1

  12. JReel Buc Says:

And here we go with the BS in the very first pre season game

  13. DrunkInYbor Says:

    Good..sorry..not sorry.

  14. DrunkInYbor Says:

He chops his feet like Michael Pittman it drives me insane. Bucky was a a revelation. I’ll take Tucker and Bucky over Bucky and and the 9 step shuffle rep

  15. Jason Says:

Ummm… maybe don’t punch yourself where you may have been injured?

  16. Woodman Says:

White more proven than Tucker and yes White is a proven vet..

  17. Woodman Says:

It’s the first pre season game have another drink Ybor

  18. Creamsicle Says:

Woodman, everything you just said as little as it was just goes to show how seriously anyone should take you lol

  19. Creamsicle Says:

Another 50iq person downgrading a preseason game. Say that to perish, egbuka, Greene, Jarret, cup. All Players playing starting/roster spots

  20. Creamsicle Says:

Since when is someone who played in the nfl for 3 years and starts one considered vet? I swear these kids play madden 26 for one game and tink they know something about the nfl

  21. Creamsicle Says:

Woodman fyi, you need at least 4 years to be a vet. So mayeb it’s you that needs to put to ybor ipa down buddy.

  22. Rod Munch Says:

I didn’t think he looked in agony, he looked more annoyed than anything, like he knew he hurt himself and was mad about it.

I don’t get why they gave him the ball after he was hurt however, clearly on TV you saw him punching himself in the sack before the carry where he went to the sidelines. I guess they expect White to pull himself out of the game. Also, to give the Bucs some benefit of the doubt, from the sideline you could have thought he was adjusting his jock or something based on just seeing him from the backside and not the TV view.

But hopefully he’s OK and it’s a minor issue. He’s an exceptional pass blocker at RB, so everyone who is an actual Bucs fan should want him out there protecting Baker, because there’s a huge drop off to Bucky, and then Tucker in that department.

  23. Aqualung Says:

We should not be so thin at RB that Tucker was getting 4th quarter carries, especially after White went down. C’mon Jason, you need to act because you know your HC is too preoccupied with other things to know who is in the game that shouldn’t be.

  24. Creamsicle Says:

I would tread lightly with the word “huge”. Bucky and Tucker can both be effective in pass protection. Watch last years film Bucky is a dog for his size and took out some massive DL men during the season during pass protection. Hes not RB1 just because he can hit the shake and bake on them

  25. Bucs4Ever Says:

our training staff sucks…they left white out there after he was obviously hurt then reinserted Miller after a horrible head shot.

Same morons screwed up with Wirfs…right Joes? Same crew…they suck

  26. Jeebs the Honey Bear Says:

    Why?

    I mean…. Just why?

  27. David Says:

I really can’t stand fans constantly bitching when someone plays in a preseason game. Have you not watched the NFL for the last 20 years? The first few games of the season are usually atrocious. Most teams can’t block, all of them can’t tackle. They don’t practice anymore and when they do, they rarely tackle and wear pads.
So yes, the starters need to get some reps under their belt. The offensive line needs time to start gelling.

It’s football, injuries are going to happen. Half of you want to see the NBA where people take nights off constantly and only play 3/4 of the game. You complain when they get injured practicing and you complain when they’re in the game too long. It’s ridiculous. They’re paid millions to play physical game, sh*t happens.

  28. heyjude Says:

Felt bad for White. I think he was trying to punch the pain away so he could stay in. Mad at himself it seemed. It’s okay to have some starters sprinkled in during preseason. Sadly, injuries happen every year in training and preseason. White is young and hopefully it isn’t a big tear and he’s back for the games.

Hope Ryan Miller is okay too, concussion. He had a great game.

  29. Fred McNeil Says:

We don’t really need to see much more of White till September.

  30. Hodad Says:

Tucker proved last night he’s the better back. Wright looked better running the ball if we’re being honest. Another game like last night by Tucker might push White to the bench.

  31. Kenton Smith Says:

Even a grade one groin injury is at least 3 weeks to heal. Grade two is at least 6 weeks. Grade 3 tear is the season, or most of it. Looks to me like we can’t count on him opening day. He’s in great shape though so I wouldn’t count him out just yet.

  32. Buckit Says:

No name players from last night’s game that have earned themselves more looks: ILB Jackson, RB Wright, DB Parodie.

  33. orlbucfan Says:

Just like clockwork, here comes the bellyachers. I’m activating rolling-my-eyes. From what I heard, there wasn’t the usual 5 million penalties and Pop Warner level of football you usually get in a preseason opener. Hope White will be okay by September. He’s an excellent receiver and blocker as well as a decent RB. He can take the time to recuperate.

  34. ballwasher61 Says:

That injury is painful but not as bad as a hamstring, depending on the hamstrings severity. I understand why he was punching that tendon with his thumb, it burns

  36. Kidfloflo Says:

White is a major threat with short passes to him, and was a kneel down away from 1000 yard season, to be so flippant about him being meaningless to this offense is offensive

  37. Kidfloflo Says:

Plus he’s our best blocking RB…ask Baker if that’s important

  38. Capt.Tim Says:

He is very important to this team. Hope it’s minor

Tucker proved last night he’s the better back.

    ———

He averaged 3.8 yards per carry.

He had one carry for 23 yards, and 12 carries for 27 yards. He also had 1 catch for 0 yards.

I’m not sure what that proves other than there’s a reason he’s third on the depth chart.

for a team that loves screen passes white is super important
