Jason Licht On Haason Reddick

August 6th, 2025

Bullish on Haason Reddick.

One guy who at least in Joe’s eyes has had something of a quiet training camp is Haason Reddick.

(SirVocea Dennis has also been rather quiet.)

That’s not to say they are not practicing well. They just haven’t made a lot of splash plays. Reddick yesterday demonstrated he can still make a splash play. He nearly broke tight end Tanner Taula in half with a ferocious hit, jarring the ball loose.

You know how much Bucs coach Todd Bowles loves takeaways.

After practice, Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht made a surprise appearance in the media tent. Joe guesses this was mostly to address questions about new Bucs backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

But while Licht was there, he answered all sorts of questions. One was a request to break down what he has seen from the Bucs’ big free agent signing this past spring, Reddick.

“He’s as explosive as I thought,” Licht said. “He’s in excellent shape, and he knows the defense.

“But what’s been the bigger impression for me is what he’s been in the locker room so far and the presence he has in terms of being a leader. It’s been kind of cool to see.”

Joe first got a whiff of Reddick’s work with his new outside linebacker teammates from Anthony Nelson in June. Joe also spoke recently with YaYa Diaby. He also raved about how helpful Reddick has been.

“He’s going to be an incredible addition not only on the field but off,” Licht said.

If Reddick is as good on the field as he has been with his new teammates off the field, the Bucs may have found their monster living in other teams’ backfields.

If your Superbowl window is wide open-which many think the Buccaneers is-the known quality is certainly more valuable than the future unknown due to the fact that you are in a win it all now mindset. If you think Reddick is such a gem that cannot miss then why were teams not lining up to bid for his services? I will tell you why-Reddick mailed it in last season and looked much the part of a whiny malcontent doing it.
Trey Hendrickson is available for the right price and that would likely be a 2nd rounder and a 3rd rounder or a 1 and a 5 at most. Of course you would then need to pay him about 32 million a year for the next two years with a significant amount guaranteed. Bucs would be an attractive trade partner as it means Trey is no longer in the AFC and with a bit of maneuvering Bucs have the cap room. For this you receive the NFL Sacks leader of the last 2 seasons and put your team in the top 3 in the NFC.

In the couple of practices I saw, the RBs struggled running right, at Reddick. He did a great job against the run but just wasn’t tackling the back.

  3. Kidfloflo Says:

Hendrickson would be such an addition…man u talk about a stout scary defensive front!! He’s extra 12-15 sacks would put us over the top…a man can dream cant he

    dude is 31

would love hendrickson on this team too!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!

Speaking of having pressers outside in a tent, can Joe tell us why they don’t put a fan on these guys so they’re not swatting gnats while they answer questions? It drives me crazy watching this everyday. It’s dumb enough they don’t use the shed more, at least put a fan on them!!

  7. Power Of Pewter Says:

Pass rush should be adequate with addition of Reddick, and depth should be better with Braswell having a season’s experience in him.
    Secondary depth is vastly improved.
I’m mostly worried about ILB… can L David hold off Father Time another year? Can S Dennis avoid injury? Where is the depth?
But overall the Defense should be improved. Offense should remain stellar…hopefully Wirfs back soon and Godwin back by mid-season. Punting situation stabilized (cross fingers). Bucs are expected to win division, and should go deep into playoffs.

    Seeing is believing! LFG!!

Hendrickson would be a helluva an addition.

Back in his home state, highly motivated, making more money. He’s not that much older than Reddick.

deion jones is the same age as reddick. im sure hes a good dude. give him a shot at a player unlikely to make the team, and you will get a ferocious hit too i bet.

trask is a great dude but of course it doesnt matter. because it really it only matters if youre the leader.

let me remind everyone of hardy nickerson vs mccants. thats what a leader does.

im not seeing the next hardy nickerson in this camp. maybe its not needed but if it is its not happening

  11. KABucs Says:

Mayfield is our Hardy Nickerson. On defense, we have solid leaders at every level.

Hendrickson could be a scenario where we pay twice or more what we’re paying Reddick and then he’s on our team when he drops off the cliff or gets injured. Then we’re in a bind.
It’s risky to pay top dollar for someone over 30. And he would probably want a longer-term contract than we would be willing to give him. It’s a huge risk and I’d rather keep the draft picks. I’d probably hindsight 20/20 change my mind if our pass rush is still mediocre but I don’t think it will be.

    Bucsfan,

You wasted all of our time with your ridiculous post.

Reddick is here, and we’re absolutely not signing or trading for any other big name D-line players this season. (barring injury)

Reddick is highly-committed and determined to change people’s minds about him after his terrible overall season last year.

Get on board, or kindly STFU.

  13. LakelandBuc Says:

You need OLB that can do a lot more than sack the QB

In Todd Bowles system, they have to drop in coverage
They have to play the run, they have to be all-around solid

I think Reddick is that type of OLB

  14. Bucsfan Says:

Hendrickson would sign a 2 year deal and if you do not want the NFL sack leader of the past 2 seasons on your Dline and are willing to bet the season on Reddicks’ production-then you are a FOOL Erik so why don’t you STFU AHOLE.

  15. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Hendrickson Dreamers.

    Get real.

Instant Super Bowl favs. I 100% agree. They can afford it, too.

My guess is Licht is trying to keep his current cap space. He can roll it over into next year. $25M + $29M ($54M) and they can likely sign everyone: Goedeke, Zyon, Evans, Otton, Riddick, Hall.

I think Licht enjoys winning the NFCS each year and wants to keep the streak alive.

  17. TampaBayDJ Says:

What Erik said ! All these fans think the Bucs can just sign anyone they want. This isn’t MLB, there is a salary cap, and if you mortgage the future for someone who will be 32 this year, everything falls apart.
Do some homework before farting out of your mouths. Go Bucs

  18. Daniel Z Says:

I think youre delusional if you think Hendrickson is getting traded for a 2nd and a 3rd, especially when you consider that those picks would be next year at the earliest. Cincinnati is cheap, not stupid.
