Shilo Sanders Gets Help From Antoine Winfield, Jr.

May 10th, 2025

Eager.

Early to rookie camp; early to the classroom.

That was the message today from undrafted free agent safety Shilo Sanders — after he shook the hand of every reporter in the room and wanted to know each one’s name.

Sanders, 25, is a savvy dude with the media, trained well by his famous father Deion, aka Coach Prime.

Shilo Sanders said today that his father taught him how to practice and get the most out of every rep, among other things.

Joe was more impressed with Sanders saying he arrived to Tampa early for rookie camp and connected with Bucs safety Antoine Winfield, Jr. for guidance and assistance.

“Antoine, he helped me a lot, getting me with, you know, certain coaches that I needed to talk to – to learn extra,” Sanders said. “And I was just happy for this opportunity, which is great, but I just wanted to prepare myself the best I can for this rookie camp. And [Friday] was a good day.”

Sanders flashed a couple of times today in practice, as well, which fans can read about in Joe’s practice play-by-play highlights.

Long road to make the team for the rookie, but he’s had a solid few initial steps.

I guess his brother Shedur missed out on his dads media savy class

  2. BuxfaninTX Says:

He got a 3 year contract based an UDFA, worth over $2 mill. I’d say his chances are pretty good to make the team
None of that money is guaranteed and it’s pretty standard. NFL minimum. –Joe

  3. Pickgrin Says:

Step 1 complete… (stand out against the rookies).

Shilo has a looong ways to go if he’s going to beat out seasoned Merriweather for a roster spot……

  4. FilthyAnimal Says:

Step 1… stop with Shilo articles. There is no good reason why we should be discussing him. NONE. What about UDFA JJ Roberts from Marshall? There’s a safety with a draftable grade, but nobody is asking about him. Shilo was only signed as a favor and here we are, yapping about him and Deion, blah blah blah. Completely unwarranted except for the celebrity aspect, which is a terrible reason.

Let’s pretend his last name is Smith.

    Relax old man^^

    Filthyanimal

Do you ever have anything positive to say?
Either you are trolling someone’s post or you are bashing joes articles
    Must be pretty miserable..

  7. Kenton Smith Says:

FilthyAnimal, let’s pretend he can play football like Tykee Smith plays football. Since we’re pretending!

  8. Tony Says:

    @FilthyAnimal

Just pretend Shilo’s last name is Roberts then. Or just pretend it’s Dwight Smith Dexter Jackson or John Lynch out there instead.

  9. Tony Says:

    @FilthyAnimal

A way to fix it is you go out there & play then. They need as much help on D as possible & if you can play better than we’ll take it.

  10. FilthyAnimal Says:

The point obviously went over your heads. The only reason we’re talking about Shilo is because of celebrity, and none of it has to do with football. If it was about football, he’d be getting no more attention than JJ Roberts, another UDFA safety. I thought this was a football website, not TMZ.

  11. ToddBowles#1 Says:

FilthyAnimal thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room.

Those types of folks usually are suffering from some sort of inferiority complex.

All I ever see him do is bash other people for daring to think differently than him.

What he should be doing is focusing on the dumpster fire that is the Todd Bowles lead pass defense, and 1-3 playoff record.

Not to mention his ball washing of Faker Mayfield. Dude has two wins lifetime in the playoffs. Nothing great about the dude at all really. Slightly better than Winston.

  12. El HEFE Says:

I knew AWJ would be the one that scoops him under the wing idk why filthy animal is mad this is just a post about the sanders kid are you anti news or just anti sanders either way what if he is actually good and the other guy hasn’t done anything yet again you said it yourself his dad is a big name and eyes are in him to see if he wins or lose the job just except he will be here for a lil time just like people have to get over Todd is out coach for another year save yourself some time and just come back to the page when everyone you don’t like doesn’t play for us or coach for us and that’s for any negative fans be a BUCS FAN or leave no other option

  13. firethecannons Says:

Well I appreciate this player going out of his way to be early and often. I hope he makes the team. He is motivated and making the most of his opportunity. He is focused and motivated, God Bless! Will follow!

  14. B Says:

All I know is I watched several Colorado games and I don’t even remember him being on the field

Joe is posting about him because some people ARE interested in him. That’s a good enough reason, isn’t it?
Let’s correct that. JOE is interested in him, so Joe writes about him. –Joe

Personally, I AM interested in Sanders, and all the other UDFA’s, even if they’re a longshot.

Since you are NOT interested in him, there is no good reason you even clicked onto the post or commenting on it, NONE, unless you are wanting to be a nasty troll.

  16. Simeon4HOF Says:

Deion was my favorite non-Buccaneer player growing up
    Definitely a Sanders fan.
So I’m just here rn for the straightening in the comments
    Where the popcorn at lol

  17. ModHairKen Says:

Everyone so in love with Izien, McCollum and Merriwhether, if they are so good, why was the pass defense so bad?

  18. El HEFE Says:

Winfield was hurt the entire season Izien made plays a lot last year and merriweather did ok the last 5 to 6 games of the season did you watch any games last year @modhairken or are you a troll

  19. FilthyAnimal Says:

    @Simeon,

Weak comment. Can you do any better? Also, punctuation makes a world of difference.

  20. Simeon4HOF Says:

Now say what you will look dumb all ya want lol. It’s what you do
Going back to celebrating our SB Roster. Deion ain’t hard to find talk to him if ya got a problem with him

  21. Greg Says:

I think he has a good chance to make the team as special teams player initially. We’re thin at the safety position, I’m rooting for him!!

  22. Simeon4HOF Says:

It isn’t true that nobody wanted to sign him.
And it isn’t true that if the Bucs hadn’t then nobody else would have, and that is a fact. Those are things you want and think to be true.
It’s how you sound and the things you say, and what triggers me is the way you attack others specifically in certain ways about certain things.
Now there ain’t no sense in going back and forth with you. Talk in circles all Summer about our back up Safety idc

  23. No Mercy Says:

I like Shilo. He plays hard, he hits hard, and has primetime DNA. I see a lot of room for growth in him who knows what’ll happen but I’m not against having a sanders on our team if helps us win

  24. heyjude Says:

Great to hear. Hoping that Shilo makes the team. I enjoy hearing more about Shilo. Wishing the best for both Deion’s sons. He was a good dad and taught them a lot about football too. Good kids.

“All I ever see him do is bash other people for daring to think differently than him.”

Sounds like the buffoon in the stupid red baseball hat.

  26. BucsfaninOregon Says:

I kind of like articles on new untested players that have a chance to make the team and make it better. We have had some on Shio, now how about some on Watson and other newbies?
