Jacob Parrish & His Ringleader Father
May 4th, 2025
Rookie Bucs cornerback Jacob Parrish, the third-round pick.
Once upon a time an important figure in Bucs history explained how he was toughened up because his uncles “beat the crap out of me every day.”
A great but disturbing story that was from former Tampa Bay assistant coach and head coach Raheem Morris.
Joe preferred the story of Bucky Irving getting tough-guy lessons from his uncle — the one who made 4-year-old Bucky get hit hard by a 14-year-old cousin in Oklahoma drills.
Enter Buccaneers rookie cornerback Jacob Parrish. The third-round pick out of Kansas State University is proud of his wrestling background. Yes, he wrestled competitively, but he also explained that his father organized wrestling tournaments at his home.
The competitors? His twin older brothers. Both played football and are now college track stars.
Another brother was a college wrestler and, per the Wichita State University website, the Parrish boys got after it in 2-on-2 basketball, among other sports.
“Having brothers who were really competitive made me always try to be at the top of my game,” said Jason Parrish, one of the twins. “You always want to work hard. You always want to be at their level. When we were outside playing basketball or anything, people used to have to break stuff up. Things got rough. That’s how brothers are.”
Jacob Parrish looks forward to bringing that competitive edge to his new NFL team in Tampa.
As for dad, you can check him out below, courtesy of a Kansas State University Facebook account.

Hope this guy can show up ready to play like Tykee did!
Tykee at safety with AWJ
Dean, Zion, Morrison on the corners
Parrish and Izien
I predict we’ll double last years takeaways IF we can generate timely pressure this year!
TB#1…. I get that message because I don’t allow facebook to track my activities in order to view their content, by choice dummy. 🙁

Love revisiting Joe posts about players growing up and the integrity, respect, and strength they learned from others along the way.
Jacob will be a great fit with the Bucs. I never had FB, but was able to see the videos that are out there. Athletic family.

“That’s how brothers are”
When my brothers and I used to inevitably get into it… My dad would brilliantly turn the back yard into a ring and give us boxing lessons. Gloves on of course. He figured if we were gonna fight we might as well learn to do it correctly. Today we would get a visit from DCF folks me thinks.
Go Bucs!
