Devin White Full Of Rams Hate

May 26th, 2022

Sting of loss still burns.

The Bucs have a very ugly playoff history with the Rams. And in the past decade, the regular season has been aggravating for Bucs fans whenever the team plays Los Angeles.

Both in 1979 and 20 years later in 1999, the Bucs suffered brutal losses to the Rams in the NFC Championship game. Those who still remember get disturbing flashbacks in the dead of the night.

That postseason history continued last year when the Bucs had a comeback for the ages only to get fried in the final seconds on a bomb from Matt Stafford to Cooper Kupp followed by a game-winning field goal by discarded former Bucs kicker Matt Gay.

The Bucs are 0-3 against the Rams in the postseason.

To this day, Bucs fans just want to frisbee their bowl of corn flakes across the kitchen remembering that loss. It likely cost the Bucs another Super Bowl.

“I just knew — I kept telling everybody in the locker room — whoever is going to win this game is going to win the Super Bowl,” Bucs inside linebacker Devin White said yesterday of that division round playoff loss. “Because we both had great balance of offense and defense.”

Sure enough, White was right.

White is still somewhat bitter some five months later.

“It took a long time,” White said of getting over that Rams loss. But it sure didn’t appear as if he is over it.

White admitted he and his teammates are on a mission this year. It is finally time to put an end to the Rams’ dominance. The Bucs are 1-8 in the past nine games they played the Rams. That lone win came in 2019, when the Bucs had one of the best offensive explosions the team has had in recent history, winning a 55-40 shootout in the historic Los Angeles Coliseum.

The Bucs host the Rams in Week 9 this fall and you don’t have to remind White of it.

“I always have that [game] circled,” White said. “We’ve never beat them [in the playoffs]. I definitely know we’ve never beat them [in the playoffs]. There was a perfect time to beat them [in the playoffs last year] when it really, really mattered.”

The Bucs did beat the Rams in White’s rookie season, but he didn’t play in that game. White was nursing an MCL sprain. So no, White has never beaten the Rams.

White knows a key step into getting back to the Super Bowl is taking care of business and settling scores.

“It is fuel to the fire for this year,” White said, remembering how the 2021 season ended last winter. “It’s Super Bowl or nothing. We know that. I will say it before all the cameras, that’s the only goal. That’s what we want. That’s what we are after.

“That’s what we are fighting for.”

The team needs White to play at the level he did in the Super Bowl playoffs. He was everywhere and constantly raising hell.

  2. GOB Says:

If the bucs have any chance of beating the Rams this year, they absolutely must play more coverage. Stafford destroyed them against the blitz, and bowles answer was more of the same.

  3. iamrhenry Says:

He might want to hate on the Saints too!!!!

  4. Mike Says:

We need Devin White to become a good cover LB. If he can do that, oh man!

  5. Pewter941 Says:

Seems like the Rams are living in the Buccaneers mind rent free.

  6. Posey99 Says:

On a positive note about the loss to the rams, had we not lost,Tom Brady would of most likely retired on top. We do get Brady for another year.

  7. kyle Says:

devin white sure likes to talk… love the kid but brother its time to start earning your paycheck…

  8. steele Says:

This is good to hear. I hope every single Buc is hellbent on revenge. All that’s missing is a bunch of new veteran talent on defense. That red letter game won’t go well if they don’t make those additions.

  9. David Says:

I fully expect to see White have an all pro year. Week in and week out, I want to see him dominate. He’s fully capable

    LFG!!!

  10. #8 Says:

    Suh.

  11. Austin Says:

50 bucks the dude has a career year; and not just from his start, but his whole career looking back this will be one of the best. I bet he sets himself apart as the best blitzing middle linebacker in the game

  12. Hodad Says:

We had a S.B. hangover last year, and we were the hunted. It’s the Rams turn to get everybody’s best shot, and White just added the Bucs to the list. I say L.A., and N.O. better have their chinstraps on tight when we play them. If we give it our best shot, and play the way were capable, we’ll beat both teams this year.

  13. SB~LV Says:

He better get his head in the game ….

  14. sasquatch Says:

I wish he would just stop talking and play. He dumb.

  15. JimmyJack Says:

White had a absolutley terrible 1st half in that game. Shaq Barret apparently decided not to show up for the whole game. Winfield was confusing his left from his right.

Our whole defense needs to step up but those 3 players in particular.

  16. gotbbucs Says:

I don’t want to hear the tough talk. Heard enough of that BS from Gerald McCoy and he backed none of it up.

Let your play do the talking for once.

  17. Craig Says:

    Wrong, wrong, wrong.

    1) Football is a game played week by week. He misses enough tackles doing that. Looking ahead will make him pick even worse angles and overrun more plays.

    2) Football is a team sport, you support your team by playing with them. Do not pick a personal vendetta and go off the rails. Learn your position and play it professionally.

    3) That kind of emotion will get you beat. Your opponents will see it and play games with you.

  18. captivajim Says:

White has yet to match his play with his mouth.. And ,he cost us the 1st aints game last yr with 2 of his personal fowls. he’s a mouth with a penalty problem. trade him & pick up some cap space……

  19. Shawn Says:

The Rams own the brady lead Bucs!

    Plain and Simple…

As a Rams fan, we can’t wait to play you guys lol..

    Rams Repeat Is Coming!!

CONGRATULATIONS To The SuperBowl Champion L.A.Rams!!! 🐏πŸ₯‡πŸ†πŸ’™πŸ’›πŸ’™πŸ’›

  20. Bucaroo Says:

Yes, Bucs fans hate the Rams, the Saints, and Case Keenum!

  21. Howard Cosell Says:

    #HateTheSaints

    Rams barely stole that game.
    Saints are PE #1

  22. Howard Cosell Says:

    Saints are malicious criminal thugs.
    Rams just got lucky.

Rams play tough but they play clean, unlike thug-cetral

  23. SlyPirate Says:

WHY THE SAINTS AND RAMS BEAT THE BUCS
Coaching. With equal talent coaching takes over. Payton and McVay are the best in the business (Bill Bel and Kyle Shannahan, too). The Saints and Rams come to play the Bucs with better gameplans. Simple as that.

    THE GOOD (MAYBE GREAT) NEWS
    1. Payton is no longer the Saints’ coach.
    2. Bowles’ is ALREADY game planning for the Saints (and probably the Rams). You would not get that under BA.

  24. Rayjay1122 Says:

Know who else is full of Rams hate? Yours truly!

  26. Buc4evr Says:

Not JTS, not Hall…. Suh and JPP. Do it Jason.

  27. Duane Says:

His mouth writes plenty of checks he cant cash, but that #45 in the SB run…

  28. alton d green Says:

The loss to the Rams on a moronic defensive call reminds me of a Seinfeld episode. Elaine had a terrible unqualified employee. So what did she do? She promoted him to “upstairs” so she wouldn’t have to deal with him. Sound familiar?? If Bowles is a genious, i’m a rocket surgeon. So, what did the Bucs do? They promoted him to head coach. haha hopefully Brady and the offense can carry them.

  29. Mike Johnson Says:

LMAO here. Don’t hate the Rams Mr. White. Hate your Defense for allowing Cooper top fill his Cupp whenever he wanted to against you. Hate you D line for giving Mathew Stafford 2 lunch breaks to eat his subs. Don’t hate the Rams. They were simply..better than your team.

  30. BillyBucco Says:

William Gholston said he is 313 right now.
Hall has been compared to a more athletic JJWatt and JTS could be a 10 sack guy every year according to Shaq Barrett.

It’s time to turn a corner and stop talking about Suh and JPP.
They were great and much appreciated in Tampa.
But younger hungrier guys are here NOW

  31. Eckwood Says:

I stand by what I’ve said and in true fashion Hear πŸ‘‚ we go again …….. Btw πŸ‘‚ Hear we go again ……. Bowles get control of his mouth it’s getting exhausting and believe there are other players that feel the same !!

  32. rrsrq Says:

Bucs should hate the Rams, it has been the Rams that kept the Bucs from the SB at least 3 times in history, under McKay, Dungy and Arians

  33. rekraprovert Says:

It’s too bad that none of you fools slandering 45 will have to publicly eat your words when he consistently becomes what he’s shown he can be at his best.

Our defense was mangled last year and 45 was forced to completely adjust his game and assignments. That, along with being a competitor who felt the need to make up for the losses of his teammates led to a down year for him.

45 is a monster and we’re lucky to have him. If we stay relatively healthy on his side of the ball this year, look for him to have an All Pro level season. And when that happens- many of you will need to publicly REPENT

    Go Bucs

  34. Trey Long Says:

2 big takeaways. Last year pass defense was mediocre to poor. Can’t win championships like that.
Second Bill Belichick rule number ONE DON’T LET THEIR BEST PLAYER BEAT YOU. The end of the Rams game was a coaching disgrace. TB and offense should be good, barring injury. That pass defense must be better.

  35. Big Red Says:

Love Devin White but he had a really bad year in 2021. Hope he returns to form.

  36. LongSeason Says:

Be full of Saints hate, too, Devin!!!
    LFG!!!
Sweep the Saints and blast the Rams!
    Go Bucs!!!

  37. Marvin Says:

That’s what they said about Philly. We took care of that!!

    ________

    And?

Good job, you’ve regurgitated an overused and often misunderstood cliche and applied it to a team trying to beat another. Dumb!
