Donovan Smith Has Jokes

May 26th, 2022

Launches zinger at Tom Brady.

Tom Brady may be the greatest quarterback ever, but that doesn’t mean he’s above getting clowned on national TV by a teammate.

This morning, Bucs left tackle Donovan Smith appeared on “Good Morning Football,” seen weekdays on NFL Network. Smith was talking about the usual: Brady’s rapture, Todd Bowles promoted as the new coach. Bucs playing in Munich — though Smith seemed miffed the NFL didn’t schedule the Munich game against the Seahawks during Oktoberfest — indeed!

Nothing very revealing. But then closet Bucs fan and “Good Morning Football” co-host Peter Schrager asked Smith what kind of person are NFL fans going to get when Brady begins calling games for FOX? This is when Smith went Chris Rock.

“I think it going to be some good content,” Smith said. “I definitely think it is worth it. He’s a very knowledgeable guy. He’s got a sense of humor which is huge.

“You know, he played the game for 40 years.”

RIM SHOT!

Smith did add something when asked about Brady’s rapture. Smith confessed when he learned Brady would return, he said it was “shocking.”

As for needling Brady about his age, what’s Brady gonna do for revenge for getting clowned on national TV? Brady needs Smith to keep himself upright on two feet.

    40 could actually be accurate

  3. D-Rome Says:

Where’s the joke? 40 years is reasonable if he started the lowest level of pee-wee football at 5 years old.

No dinner at Berns for you DS!

    Ding!

  5. DoooshLaRue Says:

All that on field leadership, ability AND a great sense of humor.

Boy, what’s not to love about the warrior…..Durable Donnie?

  6. Buccos Says:

Donnie needs a big bounce back from the Rams debacle. Hopefully he has enough pride and determination to realize that he needs to get better.

  7. Crickett Baker Says:

I think he has been playing football 40 years. Somewhere I heard him say he had been playing since he was 4 years old.

Brady usually buys expensive watches for his lineman. It’s safe to say smith will get a Casio from 1985

I agree that he was being serious.

Crazy number so it sounds funny but he didn’t say playing in the NFL for 40 years.

  12. Bucsfanman Says:

It was a fun interview. I miss Kay!

  13. Maniac Buc Says:

My son started flat at 3. So at 45, that means he’ll have played the game for 42 years. Pretty accurate.

  14. Texas Buc 1976 Says:

Buccos Says is right. DS had his worst game of the season against the Rams. Otherwise was his best season. Got to make up for it.

  15. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If Brady started throwing a football around as a 4 year old……D. S. is close to correct on the years…..seems unbelievable but true.

  16. Mike Johnson Says:

Its Like my main man Mike Tyson says, Everybody got a plan..got jokes..Until they get hit in the mouth.

  17. Joe in Michigan Says:

Mike Johnson: Not everybody balls up and starts crying when they get hit. You obviously do. I don’t.

  18. Darin Says:

No Brady doesn’t need Smith for that.
