Bruce Arians: Raise “Wasn’t Necessary”

June 9th, 2021

Discussed raise.

There aren’t too many times where a guy says he doesn’t need a raise.

That happened yesterday with Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians.

On Monday, it was learned he and Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht had their contracts reworked by Team Glazer for building a Super Bowl-winner.

Arians got a raise and Licht got a contract extension. The Bucs didn’t release details and Arians didn’t offer any yesterday either when asked about his new contract.

But Arians did say that he didn’t need a raise.

“It means the world,” Arians said of the gesture from Team Glazer. “They rewarded us for doing a good job and it wasn’t necessary but they wanted to do it.

“I was really happy to see Jason’s extension. He very well earned it.”

Of course both men earned it.

Licht built the team and even park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, Bucs-Super-Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady mentioned to Licht when the Bucs were wooing him that the Bucs had a lot of talent and just couldn’t get over the hump.

That all changed when Arians and Licht convinced Brady to come to Tampa Bay.

Patience paid off for Team Glazer. And then they paid Arians.

With the extra money, maybe Bruce will let me install curb feelers on his golf cart that he drives around during practice

  2. Winny Testaverde Says:

Gotta be happy for BA. Done dirty by Mike Tomlin and was “retired”. Built a great team in AZ only to have his QB (Palmer) go down and out. Finally…enduring the Winston Year 5 experiment. The guy paid his dues…is loyal and honest to a fault. They don’t make them like him anymore.

  3. August 1976 Buc Says:

Ahhh…..The spoils of Victory, so good to see for BA.

For a team that “Snatched Defeat from the Jaws of Victory” for most of their existence. The best offseason in Bucs history continues.

BTW Joe “Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians”
Maybe just maybe, lol a few more adjectives are needed for BA, the BEST Head Coach in the franchise’s 47+ year history.

Let the good times roll baby!!!!

GO BIG BAD AZZ WORLD CHAMPION BUCS!!!!

  4. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Winny Testaverde, I agree about the loyalty…but I don’t think any coach is honest to a falt, lol. Certainly, he is more honest than Gruden was and is though.

  5. Bird Says:

    How awesome is this coach!

    Owners/ management love him…
    Players love him…
    Buc fans love him…

I used to be a big fan of chucky. That has changed over the years. Really cant stand the man now. So thankful that chucky decided to use the bucs only to get bigger raiders deal – 10 years 100 mil i believe. Talk about buyers remorse

  6. Joe Says:

FYI on Arians and the Steelers: It was Art Rooney II who got rid of Arians. Rooney didn’t like how Big Ben was getting pounded and thought his career would be end too soon as a result.

  7. Jeff Says:

Well done, Glazers. Who wouldn’t want to work for them!

The culture change at One Buc began with Bruce.
Licht has had his ups and downs but it’s hard to argue his faults with a shiny trophy in your eye!
    Well deserved IMO.

And “Tom Brady mentioned to Licht when the Bucs were wooing him that the Bucs had a lot of talent and just couldn’t get over the hump.

Patience paid off for Team Glazer. And then they paid Arians” is why Arians didn’t change his offensive game plan for Winston. He knew Jameis had the physical talents to lead his team, but it was the mental side of the game and he failed miserably. His negative mental aspects of his game on and off the field are what eventually did him in, because even that historic defense of 99-2002 couldn’t have overcome his mental gaffes! When you go from a mental “midget” to a mental Colossus there was only one way we could go and that is up. If Brady stays with us for two more years and is able to play at the level or better than he did last year, he will eclipse Winston’s td totals in 3 with 1/3 of the turnovers.

Winston is old news, better hope he doesn’t win against Bucs this year, O’Neilbucyall will have an erection that goes from Tampa to New Orleans.
