Buccaneers 25, Giants 23

November 2nd, 2020

It was messy. It was nerve-wracking. It was a game to forget immediately.

But in the end, the Bucs did what good teams do when they’re not playing well.

They won.

Our beloved Bucs are now 6-2, the first time they’ve been that good through the first half of a season since 2002.

Every aspect of the Bucs’ game, in addition to coaching decisions, was subpar. But they still got the job done against a feisty but talent-challenged Giants team.

Kudos to Shaq Barrett for harassing Giants QB Daniel Jones on both of his second-half interceptions, one to Carton Davis and one an exceptional play by Sean Murphy-Bunting. And a hat tip to Antoine Winfield, Jr. for coverage on the Giants’ missed two-point conversion at the wire.

Beautiful winning TD grab by Mike Evans and huge catches by Cameron Brate and Tyler Johnson down the stretch, as the Bucs featured Jaydon Mickens(?) and Rob Gronkowski caught all four balls thrown his way, including a touchdown.

There were special teams coverage screwups, and the Bucs run defense looked mortal, which just about never happens. But it didn’t matter in the end.

Ryan Succop was a perfect 4-for-4 on a cold and windy night in New Jersey.

Lots more to come here at JoeBucsFan.com through the night.

Go Bucs!

Ugly in all phases of the game.

But a win is a win.

They better tighten up before Sunday

Who gives a fu©k what a hater gotta say
    1st place still.
    Go Bucs

  7. 813bucboi Says:

We stayed patient with the ruin game which helped chew clock….defense couldn’t stop a nose bleed most of the game….

Now we know we can win ugly….

    Great work

    GO BUCS

  8. BucBrady Says:

Fournette had a first down on his first run to the sticks–why they didn’t challenge it I’ll never understand.

  9. Bobbo Says:

Giants seemed better prepared. Garrett might have found a few flaws we had been hiding

  10. Buc4evr Says:

I’d rather be lucky than good. Tonight we were very ugly, but we got lucky and won. Let’s get out of ny with the win and put this game behind us.

  11. Kalind Says:

Byron Sandwich needs to burn that tape. Heaven if that wasn’t one of the worst called games I’ve ever watched.

Bowles/the defense struggled mightily against an offense long bereft of talent.

Shameful. This game shoulda been over in the first q.

  12. Cannon Says:

This should be a good wake up call game for the Bucs. Just in time for the surging Saints.

  13. Colin in Canada Says:

They did what they had to to win the game. The giants are better than their record suggests.

  14. JimmyJack Says:

Yep ugly game. Brady especially ugly to be honest. Succop was the MVP…..never wanna say that.

Kudos to Brady to pull himself together enough in the 2nd to get us the winning points.

Road win in the cold. We are 6-2. GO BUCS WOOO.

And what a freaking play by Winfield to end it!! That dude is amazing.

  15. Architek Says:

Hey the best thing is leaving with no injuries.

  16. james west Says:

winfield was early, looked like a bad call to me, on the 2 point conversion, bucs damn lucky to come out with a win, if they play like this against the dirty taints you can expect a loss

  17. Steven Says:

    Damn that was ugly!

  18. JA Says:

Some bad crazy D at the end. Bad thinking and the usual dropped interception by Lavonte David. As great as he is, I wish I had a dollar for every one he’s dropped through the years.

  19. Colin in Canada Says:

    Godwin was missed tonight.

  20. TheBucsAnthem Says:

The Giants just gave the whole NFL the blueprint on how to beat the bucs

    1. run up the middle
    2. throw deep to Jamel Dean
    3. Throw slants all game long

  21. Tackleblockwin Says:

I’ll take the W any way we can get it, thank you very much 😆

  22. JSmalls Says:

I think they spent too much time on a saints film this past week

  23. Bird Says:

    Agree

They played flat all night but good teams can still find a way to win ugly

    Brady at halfway mark

20 tds and 4 ints (5 to 1 is sick)

    So

Can he finish 40 tds and 8ints ?

  24. Drunkinybor Says:

In the past we lose this game. Look at last year. 6 and 2 that a boy baby!!!!

  25. 123urout Says:

I’ll take this ugly win. Watch the film and learn from this low energy game. Next week, please come and be very prepared.

  26. orlbucfan Says:

Methuselah looked quite slow in the beginning. Saw LVD make some tackles in the second half. Now, Bucs better have the number of the Aints defender memorized who concussed Chris Godwin. 6-2 works for me.

  27. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    what an embarrassing win ……….

Bucco Brucie and Byron Suckwich CLEARLY was out-coached the whole game

Brady looked lost on offense for most of the game

  28. BradyBucs Says:

    BREAKING NEWS

If the Bucs don’t trade for a starting Vet Corner tomorrow before the trade deadline they will NOT be making it to the Super Bowl this year.

NO WAY, now how, are Murphy-Bunting and Jimmy Dean not going to get TORCHED by Russell Wilson, Brees, Rodgers in the playoffs. I don’t care that Jimmy Dean got a pick-six on Rodgers. He’s been TERRIBLE as a cover corner.

  29. REDZONE BA Says:

Bucs got caught looking ahead, and got lucky. Win is a win.

  30. firethecannons Says:

that was an ugly ugly win wow hard to watch! glad we came out with a win

  31. JimmyJack Says:

Kalind Brady was missing wide open recievers all game long. Leftwhichs offense was in position to score double what we did. If Tom cant make the throw not a playcall on earth can fix that.

  32. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    JAMEL DEAN SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  33. 813bucboi Says:

    Anthem

    But the giants lost….lol…

Giants have 4 loses by 3points or less…

    On to NO

    GO BUCS

  34. Bangkok Buc Says:

Godwin is really missed. Now I’m real happy AB is playing Sunday.
Game of the hear coming up. Go Bucs!!!!!

  35. BradyBucs Says:

    BENCH JIMMY DEAN

  36. Dlavid Says:

Not pretty but it counts just the same !

  37. 813bucboi Says:

    Anthem

    You sound like a fool…lol…

    We just got a W….

    3 game win streak…

    GO BUCS

  38. Black_Bond Says:

    @TheBucsAnthem

I swear it burned me up design our corners giving a 10 yard cushion the whole night….getting killed by slants and comebacks. And ever since Vea went down for the season, our small inside linebackers aren’t protected anymore

  39. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    BUCCO BRUCIE AND BYRON SUCKWICH

……………both were out-coached again and sucked really bad tonight

  40. Cannon Says:

The Giants are a better team than their record. The have played almost everyone close.

…and this is a true close… not that “get buried by half time and get garbage points to close within a touchdown” type of of stuff our beloved Bucs used to do previous seasons.

  41. 813bucboi Says:

ME just said WRs weren’t getting open…they adjusted in the 2nd half….

    Great work BL…

    GO BUCS

  42. Black_Bond Says:

We need to trade for another pass rusher. What’s Terell Suggs doing these days?

  43. Alanbucsfan Says:

Daniel Jones missed several opportunities and his interceptions were the difference.
Joe Judge is a damn good coach.
    Giants just need a QB.
Brady had trouble with coverages all night.
A win is a win. 6-2 is a great start.

  44. TheBucsAnthem Says:

JAMEL DEAN……..AKA Vernon Hargraves PART DUEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  45. SlyPirate Says:

It’s simple. The Bucs‘ coaching staff took the week off.

  46. JimmyJack Says:

Anthem we won. You need to go back to the drawing board. This os pathetic trolling.

  47. 123urout Says:

Thank God Brady bailed out the whole Bucs coaching staff !

  48. Mitch Says:

I think Jamel gets greedy because he is so fast. Needs to stop. The Bucs missed Godwin and Vea tonight. Winfield made a great play and it was a good no call. Hope this was a wake up call game, and they play strong against the Saints

  49. 813bucboi Says:

    Anthem

    Bowles was out coached too…

And we still got the win….

    Stop b!tchin…..

    GO BUCS

  50. TheBucsAnthem Says:

what an absolute crap show of an NFL team the BUCS put on tonight….

they got lucky Daniel Jones gave the game away by sucking even worse

  51. Mike Johnson Says:

Bucs played horrible the 1st half. We will not beat the saints if we play like this next week. Defense looked sluggish and our O line got beat a lot. But we will take the victory. Saints will be tough. Like’em or not, they are finding ways to win.

  52. Tvan101 Says:

We need to trade for a veteran corner.

  53. Pelsbuc61 Says:

It seem Rojo is always guaranteed a crucial drop or early fumble. Don’t trust him and neither does BA.

  54. BucDan Says:

Game ball goes to Succop for keeping us in it and providing the points that the offense couldn’t convert. No kicker and we lose this one.

  55. Caleb Lee Says:

Player of the game: Succop. Change my mind.

  56. D-Rome Says:

Where’s that fake Bucs fan DR? I’m sure he was rooting for the Giants tonight.

  57. AtlBuc Says:

Golden Tate bobbled that ball on the “touchdown. He only got one foot in after he gained control

  58. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Todd Bowles was the best coach tonight

Todd Bowles is bailing out SUCKO Brucie tonight and the since the start of the season

  59. gotbbucs Says:

Benching Ronald Jones for the rest of that game for that fumble is bull sh!t. Arians loves to pull that power move, and I hate it. Fournette isn’t nearly as hard a runner as Jones.

As a coach, you can’t let your temper get in the way of being a smart coach.

  60. 813bucboi Says:

    Anthem

    D.jones got lucky….lol…

    And he still lose…lol…

    GO BUCS

  61. 123urout Says:

Maybe this was all the plan by the coaches. They know they are facing a weak team and decided to try different schemes both in offense and defense. Maybe they outsmarted the very knowledgeable fans in this site.

  62. Dewey Selmon Says:

Same score as last year except Gay doesn’t miss a kick and the Bucs win.

  63. BradyBucs Says:

    @JIMMYJACK

What were you saying to me before the game about Jamel Dean?

Dude’s new name is JIMMY DEAN because his sausages get burned all night.

  64. 813bucboi Says:

Bowles could barely stop a nosebleed lol…

    GO BUCS

  65. REDZONE BA Says:

Report tonight that NFL could have a 16-team playoff pending Covid situation. At 6-2, Bucs seem a lock to make playoffs.

  66. 813bucboi Says:

    DR

    you were wrong again lol…

    GO BUCS

  67. Cannon Says:

    @123urout

I was kind of wondering the same thing… the offense was very vanilla tonight.

The defense seemed passive too. Almost seemed like they were holding their cards somewhat for New Orleans.

  68. Bangkok Buc Says:

    BucsDan,
Agreed, kicker gets game ball tonight.

  69. Ed Says:

Bucs are a different team at home. You’ll see fireworks at at Raymond James Sunday night. The Giants played much harder than the Bucs. It Brady continues not to make turnovers. Godwin and Brown will make a huge difference vs the Saints.

  70. jcscycles Says:

The Giants have played everyone tough this year. No reason to hang our heads in shame. So called “Danny Dimes” beat himself, as he usually does. He threw late on the 2 point conversion, and AW shut him down. Good win, the Giants could easily have been 5-2 coming into this game. Good teams find a way to win ones like this. No way we would have one this last year – oh wait….we didn’t. Now let us stomp tne Slimy Saints into the Ray-Jay turf!!!!!

  71. Buc4evr Says:

We really came out flat tonight and got punched in the mouth, but our kicker made all the FGs and extra points and our QB didn’t throw any ints. This was the big difference maker from last year’s game against the Giants.

  72. #1bucfan Says:

Joe. Those pressures from Shaq caused 2 ints and he didn’t get any sacks just pointing that out lol sometimes and I do mean sometimes pressures can be as good as a sack. I’d much rather have a pressure that causes a turnover than just a sack

  73. DBS Says:

Yes this game sucked just like last year only in reverse. No offense in the 1st 1/2. Defense let them drive up and down the field. And kicker having to put field goals up. Only this year we win.

  74. Jeebs the Honey Bear Says:

Great, albeit ugly, win against a tougher-than-their-record Giants team.

Byron Leftwich IS A PROBLEM. People who give him kudos for our high scoring offense don’t seem to realize that his playcalling is actually holding us back from our true potential. Look at what the Seahawks are doing, that could be us. LET TOMMY COOK.

  75. Christos Says:

Not a good performance by the team, they came out flat in the 1st half.
Defence gave up a lot of plays, more than the other games and probably the worst performance this year.
But please dont start the Jamel Dean sucks and bench him chants. He had a bad game no doubt about it but calm down he is playing good. He is not playing in Davis level but he is playing good. Wait a moment before you bury him.
The team needs to play better, they started to find a rythm the last couple of days but tonight was subpar. Go Bucs

  76. adam from ny Says:

is it me or does BA look like a confused old man in that clear face visor…

like a baffled man with dementia just standing there on the sidelines…

just when he wears that clear mask…he looks weird in it

  77. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    james west Says
“winfield was early, looked like a bad call to me”

The ball hit Winfield in the arm, and if you look again, the receiver grabbed Winfield’s hand and pulled him forward, forcing Winfield to hit him, although the ball was already deflected.

The refs made the right call.

  78. Dano407 Says:

I feel like Bucs REALLY REALLY REALLY miss Godwin. He gets open & has excellent hands. These past 8 days the media has talked about how great the Bucs are and it got to their heads. This is a good wake up call right before the Saints game. AB will be playing which will stop the Evans double teams. I just pray Godwin comes back ASAP!

  79. firethecannons Says:

Sctty Miller will be replaced by AB and maybe that will help us beat the saints, they didn’t exactly play great ball sunday either–came down to a field goal that was missed

  80. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

They really miss Vea in the middle!! The push just isn’t the same and there’s no making up for it!!!

  81. Darin Says:

Game to forget immediately? A win? Geesz you guys are losing it. I need to ditch the debbie downers. Indeed

  82. DavidBigBucsFan99 Says:

We were out coached 1st half, made adjustments 2nd half . Who said we’re not missing Vea??? Arians pulling a Kevin Cash and taking the ball out of Brandy’s hands on 4th & 1 also almost lost us the game. He’s 100% on sneaks. Would’ve taken at least a minute of that clock even if we still kicked a fg. Carlton Davis is our only corner who can cover. Everybody else gets roasted. This defense is highly overrated. Brady missing so many open receivers was a huge difference. Arians needs to pull his head out and stop benching ROJO. He is clearly a better runner than Fournette. If Daniel Jones was a little more accurate we woulda lost by 2 tds. Hopefully we will be Da Aints trap game next week. We’re not gonna win because their front lines are much better than the Giants and looked how ours struggled.

  83. Richard Dickson Says:

If we’d kicked the extra point on that first TD, that final Giants TD wouldn’t have mattered, even with the 2-point conversion.
